Program and Activity Descriptions
Envision Your Life
Dr. Joan King leads this fundamental, interactive seminar to discover and/or nurture your purpose
and passion in life. By exploring what makes us thrive, what gives us energy and passion we begin
envisioning a life fulfilled by purpose and passion.
Rafting/kayaking
It has been said that one never steps in the same river twice. It is true of our daily lives as well,
each one new and filled with opportunities and challenges. With the Colorado River and
Timberline Tours guiding us, we will explore the metaphor of the River as Life’s Journey on one of
the most scenic stretches of the river. As a river flows, so does our life – ever-changing and with
surprises around every bend. Overcoming fears, embracing adventure and play, learning to
balance, going with the flow, scouting life’s rapids, and knowing when to rest are all part of this
journey.
Rock Climbing
We all run into walls in our life. How do we approach such an obstacle? This climbing excursion, led by
Adventure Travel Guides International, offers an approach that involves understanding the nature of
the wall, working out its intricacies and challenges, and then discerning a strategy for triumphing over it
one hand-hold and foot-hold at a time. Critical thinking, overcoming emotion and fear, developing a
strategy, and teamwork make climbing an empowering metaphor for overcoming obstacles in our life.
Healing through Horses
Renowned Gestalt Equine facilitator and founder of Touched by a Horse, Melisa Pearce, uses
horses to help emotionally heal humans. Horses can teach us to understand our emotions and
intuition in a new way, and can show us how to move from fear to trust. Authenticity is a major
focus of this work. All of this is done through groundwork, not through riding, so no horse
experience is needed to reap the benefits.
Women’s Inner Wisdom
Two workshops, held on the banks of spectacular Gore Creek, teach the synergy between nurturing
oneself and others, offering tools for quick rejuvenation and long-term self-care and empowerment.
Awareness of our emotional state and learning to choose our responses gives us the power to
understand and embrace our emotional self. Women will learn herbal therapy, chakras, journaling,
grounding, communication, discernment and emotional stress relief skills.
Hiking and Nature Photography
Step into the wilderness, walk a path through the forest; come to a fork in the path, step over
roots and rocks to solitude. Recognize that each foot forward shapes the journey, and delivers
you closer to yourself, your dreams. With the expert guidance of Trailwise Guides, Inc., explore
Vail's scenic backcountry, deepen your connection with the natural world, feel the pulse of your
heart, awaken your breath to freshness and vitality, enliven your soul, and illuminate nature's role
as a resource. Nature photography will be incorporated into this journey. Discovering the benefits
of a day out in nature opens your heart to your personal path, identifies the steps needed for
walking back into the wilderness we call "home". All ability levels are invited to participate in this
journey. Trailwise Guides, Inc. operates under a special use permit by the White River and San Isabel National Forest
and by the Bureau of Land Management. Trailwise Guides, Inc. is an equal opportunity provider.
Next Steps Seminar
Take the “Aha!” moments forward! Dr. Joan King wraps up the workshop with an inspiring,
supportive seminar to help women integrate all they have learned. No matter where we live, work
or play, maintaining momentum is critical for shifting our lives in the direction we want to go. Now
that you have awakened your brilliance, it’s time to let yourself shine!

VAIL ADVENTURE RETREAT GIVES WOMEN AWARENESS, POWER
‘Spa for the soul’ connects mind, body and spirit through nature
Vail, CO – Rock climbing, rafting, hiking, photography and working with horses may sound like summer
camp activities, but Women’s Empowerment Workshop in Vail, September 15-18, uses these activities
to guide women to new depths of self-awareness and personal power. It’s all part of a unique four-day
retreat that includes life coaching, yoga and meditation, six webinars, women authors and speakers.
“There really is nothing else quite like this. Consider it a spa for the soul, and an adventure camp
combined,” offered co-founder Susie Kincade. “The key is the experiential aspect. We’ll take women
outward into nature to guide them deeply inward. The natural world connects us to everything and to
our own wisdom, creativity and power. We’ll teach skills to access that wisdom and power, and anchor
them solidly in the body experience; then women can use them anytime, anywhere, from the family
room to the boardroom.”
Women’s Empowerment Workshop delivers this empowering experience with a cadre of world-class
outdoor guides from Colorado. Facilitators include wilderness therapists, authors and teachers of
women’s inner wisdom, life coach Dr. Joan King, nationally-known equine Gestalt specialist Melisa
Pearce, and spiritualist Lila Tresemer.
The workshop is designed for women of all ages and physical abilities. It is for women who are in
transition, or maybe questioning how to meet their full potential in life. And women who are nurturers
and want to be rejuvenated; or who are in a position of authority and want to learn how to wield that
power for best results. Women who seek to raise their own self-awareness, cultivate creativity and
communicate emotional authenticity. Women who want to engage in nature and learn from it. In short,
Women’s Empowerment Workshop is a retreat for any woman who wants to be her absolute best — for
herself, her family, community and world.
The outdoor explorations will meet each woman where she is in her life, and then nudge her to look
deeper and push her edges. For instance, women will learn river skills and how to apply them to life,
such as when and how to “eddy out,” and how to scout rapids and navigate turbulent waters. Rock
climbing will teach skills for overcoming obstacles in life, how to problem solve, teamwork and
communication. Healing through horses helps participants discover how to trust their authentic
emotions, and hiking and photography will teach perspective, patience and how to listen to oneself and
to nature.
“These activities have plenty to teach, both metaphorically and practically, by getting us out there to
embody the experience,” Kincade said. “The other aspect of the workshop that is so valuable is
connecting with other women. Women together can create a supportive, almost magical network of
potential and this is both very empowering and nurturing at the same time.”
The workshop also includes Women’s Inner Wisdom seminars that offer valuable self-nurturing and
emotional discernment techniques. Daily meditation and yoga, healthy, organic meals, and networking
with other amazing women in the spectacular autumn setting of the Vail Racquet Club will round out the
retreat.
To register or learn more, visit www.womenempower.us, or call toll-free, 877-595-8622. The retreat
costs $1,450 for all activities, seminars, and meals; not including lodging. Space is limited and a $200
deposit will hold a place. Bring three friends, and attend free. Host hotel, Vail Racquet Club, offers
beautiful condominiums for groups or single participants, all at exceptional workshop rates.
