ABOUT YOUR DRAW LENGTH
If you are just now switching from a
compound your draw length will be noticeably
shorter with our traditionally styled longbow.
There are two basic reasons for this shorter
draw length. First, the amount of effort
required to draw a traditional bow over a
compound causes a tensioning of muscles
and a hunched posture rather than an
extended posture. Secondly, the handle style
demands our longbows be shot with a “flat
hand” or “broken wrist” rather than the “high
wrist” form.
These combined differences will cause the
average shooter to have a traditional draw
length from 2 to 3 inches shorter than the
compound bow. The chart below has proven
very accurate in estimating draw lengths for
Quarter Moon bows. Lean towards the short
side for Longbows and Flatbows.

Bert Frelink was born in Holland and moved
to Canada in 1972. He has dedicated his life
to hunting and the outdoors.
Bert’s hunting skills and ability with a
longbow are legendary. The design and style
of Quartermoon Longbows are the result of
hundreds of days afield in Alberta’s
windswept mountains and prairie grasslands,
and in the harsh Alaska wilderness. These
were the proving grounds for bighorn sheep,
mountain goats, antelope, cougars, mule
and whitetail deer, black bears, moose and a
heart pounding Kodiak bear.
The Quarter Moon Longbow is a simple,
hard shooting, accurate bow, hand made by
a master of the craft in the shadows of the
Rocky Mountains.
Each bow is designed and crafted to share
with you a lifetime of bowhunting experience.
Bert lives with his wife Sandy and children,
Sarah and Josh in Southern Alberta,
Canada.
