Principal's Speech
This day is emotional yet cherishing
H
onourable Chairman Shree
Anil Kedia Vice Principal
Mr Ram Chandra Khannal,
Wing Co ordinators, Faculty
Heads, Mentors, teachers and all
present here a very good afternoon
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough and
more. It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a mean into feast, a house
into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today, and creates a
vision for tomorrow.
It is possible that psychology has ignored
gratitude because it appears, on the
surface, to be a very obvious emotion,
lacking in interesting complications: we
receive a gift-from friends, from family,
from God- and then we feel pleasurably
grateful. But while the emotion seemed
simplistic even to me but, I soon
discovered that gratitude is a deeper,
more complex phenomenon that plays
a critical role in human happiness.
Gratitude is literally one of the few things
that can measurably change people’s
lives.
Every present is build upon past and future
blooms out of it. So first and foremost on
this thanks giving Gratitude Day we must
join our hands to pay homage to the
two great souls of late Shree Shankar Lal
Kedia and late Shree Sushil Kedia. They
are the guiding force of our school. They
are heavenly souls but dwells in each of
us as the supreme guiding torch of life.
For they are our fountain heads. We
must also bend our heads in gratitude to
our founder Dayananda Saraswati. Yes
we all join our hands and bow our heads
to thank that supreme force in any form
for giving us this beautiful life to serve
this universe.
Next to them, I want to place my deep
sense of gratification to our honourable
Chairman Shree Anil Kedia for not
only enforcing me the honour and
priviledge of this administrative role but
also for standing hard by our side with
his unstinting support over the years.
Sir, has never failed to champion this
educational venture under the name

of DAVSKVB. His unshakeable belief in
this institution coupled with his selfless
commitment and simple know how
of the life has enabled our school to
reach the heights of success. Under his
leadership this institution stands as a
living example of quality education. As
a Principal in my case, the relationship
that we as team build with him as a
Chairperson is both critical and unique.
He is there as a critical guide, to ask
difficult questions, to say yes and no at
times but most importantly to support
the School’s progress and development.
Once again on behalf of my team and
teachers I am extremely grateful to him
for his belief in us and his desire to see
Every present
is build upon
past and future
blooms out
of it
our school evolve, flourish and roll on
to scale the newer heights of success but
with a difference. Can we have a big
round of applause for him?
I am often asked what my vision for the
school is. And at present the development
is being rewritten and at its heart is
the individual student and the values
of the school. These are an essential
non – negotiable part of enabling the
community here at the school to thrive,
its members to fee valued and to aspire,
to achieve their potentials. What I expect
of each one of the students is that he
or she will aspire to do his or her best
and live without regret knowing that they
have achieved at levels that which they
once could only and hardly dream.
This is possible, we can dream and
achieve this because of all the virtuous
and wonderful people with golden hearts
who joined our school to give themselves
for the good of society, country and the
world as a whole.
The list to whom we are indebted is
indeed long and very long, yet today
Ms. Bhubaneswari Rao
Principal
it should not go unmentioned. Here
let me extend sincere gratification and
deep appreciation to our Vice Principal
Mr. Ramchandra Khanal for his endless
efforts from the foundation to this time.
He is not man of words but action.
And please believe me that he has
quick solutions to every problem. My
acknowledgment and sincere thanks
also goes to our CAO's Mr. Janardan
Ghimire and Madam Vijaya Tater for
their silent yet immense contributions
throughout the year and ever. Equally
we place on record the contribution
and relentless support of our Wing Coordinators who manage their wings so
perfectly that they fly high on the sky, the
sky of success of course with their teams.
I know this team of co-ordinators is the
heartbeat of the school and believe me
they are omnipresent in the school. Yes
thank you Mr. Madhab Upadhaya, Mr.
Meghji Tank, Mr. Andrew Filtz Patrick,
Ms.Shanti Gurung and Mr. Prashant
Samal. They are the life lines of the
school. And we are so fortunate to have
them with us.Lets thank them with a loud
round of applauses too
One head that recruits teachers very
timely for the school is our HR Mr.
Abhishek Dhakal. He is young yet
matured to judge the nerves of new
teachers but his interviews are endless.
Yes that tells us, how hard he works.
Thank you Abhishek for being there to
solve resource needs on time.
Kindly bear with me as I said the list is
long. Yes the next group to acknowledge,
appreciate and gratify are our faculty
co-ordinators, our subject experts.
Their planning, implementation and
achievement within the classrooms and
out is marvelous example to cite. We
count on them. Their leadership in their
own faculty is amazing and rewarding
as well. Such we whole heartedly thank
the entire HOD team for enriching the
experiences of teaching and learning
activity throughout the session. Thank
you all and here goes a round of
applause for them too.
Equally we thank the CCE mentors for
their support and co-operation to the
school in a big big way; they made the
CCE dream of transforming the students
into learners of 21st century come true.
They were more like mini connecting
bridges across the students, teachers,
parents, examination incharge and the
administration. Kudos and thank you so
much mentors. You have added a new
system to our school which will surely be
carried in the future too.
Our school proudly stands ahead in
relevance to co-curricular activities.
And it’s not possible without our extra
ordinary Activity Incharges Mr. Tanka
Nath Ghimire and Mrs. Anusha Rana.
We appreciate and acknowledge their
contribution throughout the year. One
man who makes the school updated on
time with colouful look is our Club Coordiantor Mr. Shiv Narayan Mirda and
without him we are at times helpless.
Such we express our gratification to him
today and ever.Yes it’s time to thank
and count on our Club Incharges and
House Incharges equally. They are the
pillars of co-curricular activities and
they make the clubs and house achieve
their goal. Thank you to all the club
and house incharges. Yes we do thank
our disciplinary incharges as well. Let’s
not forget that DAV is a synonym for
discipline. And without disciplinary
incharges this legacy of discipline would
have been shaken.
Now we enter into the main significant
segment of the thanks giving ceremony.
Any school thrives on the teaching
community and we understand why it is
so. Teachers are the nervous system of
the school. They are the power house of
our school. They are the motion pictures
and images of school.
They
shoulder
the
maximum
responsibility of our school. I without
any hesitation can claim the DAV nests
the great and inspiring teachers who in
return produce great students. Today
we take this opportunity to salute our
great, our veteran teachers. We cannot
miss to thank and acknowledge each
and every teacher for registering their
names in the success of the school. We
thank you teachers and expect the same
zeal, passion and enthusiasm in the
days to come. May I have a big round
of applause for all the teachers of DAV?
Amongst this gathering we must notify
and notice some silent, soft but solid
contributors to our school for years
in and out. I know you all must have
guessed it correct. And believe me we
cannot survive without them. Right I
mean the account personnel’s, we thank
our number faculty Mr.Hari Gurung,
Mr Vijay Karna ,Ms Rinku, Mr.Som
Raj Pandey and others in accounts
department, they manage the finance
and we have its previledge. Equally we
thank the store keepers, lab experts, IT
experts and others for their contribution
which at times looks hidden yet very
prominent in day to day functioning of
the school.
I am desperate to thank the young team
of people assisting closely to the school
and very especially to the offices. Such
I thank and appreciate Usha, Deepak,
Nirmal, Rupa, Erista, Preeti and Luna.
Sometimes I wonder how they breathe
We own a great debt
of gratitude to our
parent’s community for
trusting us to educate
their children
amidst the pressure which is exerted on
them from all the sides. May be god
made them very strong for us. Thank you
team and yes they are always smiling let
the smile be easy or hard. Over the years
they have learnt to give smile on the face
of our school. So here goes a big round
of applause for them.
How can I forget to thank our Infirmary
staff for checking and keeping the
students fit? I sincerely acknowledge our
motherly figure an embodiment of love
and care Madam Chunnu Adhikari with
her team. Thank you to maam and her
team.
We must also acknowledge the media
cell members very especially Bigyan and
sangita as well as the examination cell
members for their prompt and valuable
services to the School. We applaud to
thank them loud. And I hope today’s
pictures too will be uploaded soon.
Now we enter to thank our loud yet
significant department ‘House Keeping’
I meant loud not cause of our vibrant
housekeeping incharge Seemaji but
because she with her team round the
clock extend the services to school. They
prepare the ground to build upon the
success and we wholeheartedly thank
and acknowledge the efforts of all our
didi’s and dai’s, be it Thakur dai, Tika
dai, Narayan dai , Durga didi, Urmila
didi, Sunita didi and each one of them
for their through support to the school.
Here we cannot leave behind the out
sourcing staff for extending their efforts
tirelessly to support the School. We also
acknowledge and thank our transport
people I mean our driver dai's for
reaching our students to us on the sunny
as well as the rainy days. I like to place
on records the good security extended to
us by our guards too.
We own a great debt of gratitude to
our parent’s community for trusting us
to educate their children. And we need
to understand that we are working on
lives not products. Our roles are very
determining in making the future of
thousands of students entrusted to us.
And even with hardships and sacrifices
we need to be dedicated, committed and
fulfilling to all.
This day is emotional yet cherishing. The
sun of session 2014-15 sets soon but the
journey doesn’t end. This sunset will give
rise to new sun with morning glory that
is the upcoming session 2015-16. Once
we talk of it we need to know there is a
lot more to do but with the support and
help of one and all we will keep working
and keep moving.
Thank you one and all for joining us on
this great day. Here I may have missed
out to acknowledge and appreciate
some of many because I said the list
is long and it will take one full day to
mention every branch, every leaf, every
flower, every fruit, trunk and roots of
DAVSKVB, So, finally thanking everyone
near and far who have supported
DAVSKVB, a school where life meets its
strength to accomplish its goals to stand
proud in the world.
Thank you and please don’t stop and
don't allow any life to go in vain. With
hope of new day, the past day goes to
rest. Such with a hope to have a great
new session 2015-16 a head with all
of you we are saying goodbye to the
session 2014-15.
I take the leave.
Thank you one and all.

Editorial
Marching ahead towards Educational Hub
- Janardan Ghimire
Editor in Chief
B
esides imparting only the official and
formal teaching learning pedagogy,
DAVKSVB has exercised to introduce
thematic subjects in its day to day
practice. These practices can be classified
into four groups such as i) Students based ii)
Knowledge based iii) Skill based and iv) Value
based.
Editorial
Firstly, to focus on the students based education,
DAVSKVB has conducted theatre, empirical,
linguistic, fabulous programmes, etc. Theatre
based education compulsorily requires one
minimum drama in a year from the students'
side, where as empirical education relates with
i) Field Trips ii) Tour iii) Excursions and iv)Visit
programmes. These programmes are even
made for some of the teaching faculty.
The school has introduced different types of
reinforcement programmes to take the students
into the right track of teaching learning
activities. Best Section Award, Golden Tray
Award and Principal's Subject Sweepstakes are
announced in the recent years for the positive
reinforcement.
Likewise, the school wants to internationalize
its approach through the induction of different
foreign languages. French, German and
Chinese are the languages introduced in
DAVSKVB to support this concept.
Faboulous Fundays (Recently developed as
the fabulous Mondays) is the programme
conducted in senior as well as junior level to
entertain the students.
Secondly, to focus on the knowledge based
society, the school has settled Informative
mechanism by forming the separate media
center for the smooth functioning of all sorts
of media. The school wants to increase the
intensive research capacity of teachers by
publishing a research journal called 'SAMWIT'.
In a short course of time, SAMWIT has made
the remarkable changes among DAVians. To
enrich the metaphysical concept of the students,
the school has introduced some of the classical
subjects in its teaching curriculum. Sanskrit and
Pali in the form of Pariyatti are those practices.
Thirdly, skill based systems like vocational
studies, activity oriented CCE system,
Laboratory based educational approach, are
other feathers to develop the DAVSKVB as
an educational hub. The school is planning
to advance with social and language lab
in upcoming years to fulfill the laboratory
approaches of teaching and learning.
In vocational studies, the school has started
classes on Mass media, Beauty and health
science, IT and electronics, Fashion designing
and Banking. School conducts hundreds of cocurricular activities to meet the needs of 21st
century education and for the convinience of
the students and parents, school publishes
Activity calender which includes list of
programmes, dates and nature of programmes
to be conducted in an academic session.
Fourthly, to focus on the value based education,
DAVSKVB provides moral science classes, strict
discipline mechanism, Vipasana meditation for
the students and Spiritual Havans in different
wings, morning assembly with Gayatri Mantra
and Buddha Vandana are other regular
activities conducted to promote the value
based education.
With these exercises, DAVSKVB is moving ahead
to make this institution as an educational hub
of the nation.

Experience
Family Jamboree: Then and Now
Mr. Tanka Nath Ghimire, Secondary CCA In-charge
Family Jamboree programme was
introduced as one of the prominent
school activities in the session 200809 and it has been one of the popular
programmes for the students, teachers
and parents.
Family Jamboree has been conducted
at DAVSKVB with the objective to
inculcate social feelings and strengthen
brotherhood among communities. As
the culture, tradition, custom, the fairs
and festivals of society add the colours
of sociability to an individual, Family
Jamboree also is able to strengthen the
relationship among students, teachers
and parents as well. In the same way
students also get an opportunity to
explore the vivid aspects of culture of
the diverse global community.
Family Jamboree in context of DAVSKVB
has been working as a unique platform
where the trio dimension (students,
teachers and parents) come to a same
platform as concentric circles. The
students are able to enhance the level
of confidence in them and to make
the exposure of internal talents. This
has become possible only with the
co-functioning of students, parents
and together with the same motto of
personality development of the children.
DAVSKVB is only the school where this
programme has been executed as one
of the prominent programmes since
2008.
New features and elements have been
added in the jamboree programme
every year to keep it updated with
the change of time. Cultural dances
of different ethnic groups from east
to west, folk dance, modern dance,
have been included in the jamboree.
The cultural dances from ancestral
time to post modern trend have been
performed by the students on the stage.
Similarly, music of post modern trend
to the classical trend all have been
performed by the students as the stage
programme.
20 SANDESH ◆ APRIL 2015
This is possible due to the conduction of
Family Jamboree with different themes
in different sessions. The students as the
participants perform theme based song
such as patriotism, cultural, folk, tribute
to the musical legends of the nation or
international community. Similarly, the
dance performance of the students also
have been on theme such as thematic
dance, contemporary dance, classical
dance, international dance, ballet
and many more ranging from eastern
culture to western including the diverse
fragrance of culture such as Singhali,
Indonesian,
Philippine,
Egyptian,
Dutch, German and many more. The
vivid cultural dances facilitate students
to understand the importance of the
culture of the international community
as global citizen.
The family Jamborees of this session
has been conducted including the
international dance and mythological
dance as the prominent elements of
the jamboree. International dances
of Singhali,
Egyptian, Chinese,
Indonesian culture guides the students
to respect and honour the culture of
the international community.
The
present prevailing culture of any nation
is guided by the mythological elements
and the live performance of the children
on the mythological theme is very
inspirational to all the audience. In
this regard, the inspiring life history of
Lord Buddha, Bhakta Prahllad, shifting
of Angulimala to monk, Shiva Tandav
etc are praiseworthy. Mythological
performances are done as mythological
dances on the stage. Besides these,
other social and cultural aspects Holi,
Dashain, Tihar, Christmas etc. cultural
elements have been depicted by our
students as dance, skit and ballet on the
stage.
Parents programmes conducted in
the family jamboree with recreational
fragrance also are note worthy.
These programmes make the parent
participants become nostalgic with the
flash back of their childhood memories.
Many of the parent participants
expressed their thanks to DAVSKVB
family for providing such an opportunity
to perform on the stage.
The parents’ programmes symbolize
the strength in unity and coordination
among family members to achieve the
targetted goal.
Nevertheless, Family Jamboree at
DAVSKVB symbolizes the successful
achievement of the goals with the
combined efforts of parents, teachers
and students.
Students and teachers are grateful
to the management of DAVSKVB
for bestowing such a wonderful and
supportive infrastructure for the overall
development of students and to create
future stakeholders of the nation, good
and smart global citizen.

parents were found to be contented
with their children studying the new

I am very glad that my daughter knows

Dr. Robert shared ideas on building nation of
peace and prosperity with DAV teachers
13th February/ DAVMC
Dr. Robert S. Kittel, director of education
for Universal Peace Foundation (UPF) Asia
searched for the way to build nation of
peace and prosperity with DAV teachers on
10th February, 2015 in the Buddha Hall.
Under the banner of the role of parents
and teachers in building a nation of peace
and prosperity, Dr. Kittel entertained DAV
teachers basically over the responsibility
to unite body and mind, introduced dual
nature of education, i.e, good and smart
including the result of both individual and
social oriented life.
Presenting the data over the current trends
of the open relationship between a boys
and girls, Dr. Kittel challenged the trend
would bring conflict in the family, society
and ultimately the nation while such culture
inborn would transplant the same to the new
generation.
Dr. kittel who is also the expert in the logical
seminar, combating HIV/AIDS and peace
foundation concentrated over these 3 topics
by advocating eastern theology was best

western culture in his own words. Dr. Kittle
has also admitted her daughter in SLC board
school of Nepal instead of American board
to tutor the eastern social and moral values.
Concluding the presentation, Dr. kittel
focused to set social objective rather
than individual objective and to abandon
individual desire and to set up public desire
for the long-term benefit of the nation
as stated in eastern doctrine. Dr. Kittle is
working since last 30 years in such issues.
Meanwhile, Mr. Janardan Ghimire,
