Training a child how to go to school will encourage and produce successful learners throughout his/her educational journey. We emphasize building upon a child’s readiness to learn in age appropriate, developmental stages. Our program consists of presenting academic concepts through multi-sensory activities, making certain to reach all types of learners in a fun and engaging environment. Play is a child’s best work and therefore we provide hands-on experiences in all areas of learning. We believe in training the whole child. Therefore, we fully commit to helping children grow cognitively, physically, emotionally, socially, and most importantly, spiritually. The Bible says that Jesus grew and developed in this same manner. Luke 2:52 states that “Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man.” Our goal is to provide a learning environment where every area of development is strengthened. SCHOOL GARDEN Students enjoy “getting dirty” in this outdoor classroom where planting, tending, and harvesting activities are an integral part of the Pre-Grammar instructional program. CORE CURRICULUM In the Pre-Grammar School, great emphasis is placed on the context of learning. Because learning occurs on a moment-to-moment basis in the early childhood classroom, everything that happens during the student’s day is considered curriculum. Therefore, providing a wonderfully enriched classroom environment, availability to materials, consistent routines, and planned daily schedules/activities are all an effective part in educating the child. Among the curriculum framework of our program, plans and lessons are guided by published curriculum texts. Teachers utilize these curricular tools to enhance the overall learning experience. Some of these key texts are listed below. PK3 – BJU’s Pathways for Preschool; Purposeful Design’s Preschool Bible PK4 – Saxon’s Early Learning; Positive Action’s Exploring God’s Love Kindergarten – Saxon’s Phonics & Spelling; Singapore’s Math In Focus, Positive Action’s Learning About God; Nancy Larson’s Science; SRA’s Open Court Reading & Language Arts; Schoolhouse Secrets Unlimited’s Writing House Pre-First – Saxon’s Phonics & Spelling; Singapore’s Math In Focus; Positive Action’s Enjoying God’s Gifts; Purposeful Design’s Science; Learning A to Z Reading Implementing a curriculum that meets individual developmental needs, while providing a range of learning experiences, is of great importance to us. Therefore our program is based upon each of the following components that are considered essential building blocks for growth and will help measure individual student progress throughout the year: emotional/social development; language/early literacy development; mathematical skills; discovery/science skills; motor skills; and spiritual development/Bible skills. Click Here C ovenant Christian Academy is an independent, non-denominational, Christian, college preparatory day school founded in 1979. We serve grades Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. Our classical curriculum combines a rigorous academic program with exemplary fine arts and outstanding athletics. This curriculum ultimately directs students to emulate the perfect excellence found in Christ. DISTINCTIVES We are a Christian community who firmly believe in the importance of a Covenant Education, where the parents form a partnership with our school to educate their children. Our goal is to provide each student with a distinctively Christian, classical, college preparatory education. We seek to inspire students to think critically in the context of a biblical worldview by not sheltering them but by equipping them in the light of scriptural truth. Our desire is that they would grow in wisdom and apply God’s Word in every area of their lives, becoming leaders to transform communities for the glory of God. Our Humanities program provides an intensive study of universal themes found in the great writings, people, and events that have formed and reformed Western Civilization. Normative works of our culture are studies within their historical settings. This helps students understand how the works and the people who wrote them were influenced by their times, and vice versa. The courses are organized chronologically, moving from the ancient civilizations to modern times and integrated with language, art, and music. All History and English courses are taught at the Honors or Advanced Placement level in the Logic and Rhetoric Schools. Click Here STATEMENT OF FAITH MISSION STATEMENT We Believe... the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21) The Mission of Covenant Christian Academy is to provide a biblically based, classical, college preparatory education that inspires a passion for excellence, a heart of grace, and the character of Christ. We Believe... there is one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30) We Believe... in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25, 2 Corinthians 13:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), and His personal return in power and glory. (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11) We Believe... in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith we are saved. (John 3:16-21, 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:3-10, Titus 3:5) We Believe... in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
