Daycroft Online Learning Community
Resources and Programs for Homeschooling Christian Science Families
2015-2016
www.daycroftschool.org
For 10 years, the Daycroft Online Learning Community has provided an online program for
Christian Science families who homeschool. During those 10 years, homeschooling has
become increasingly accepted as a viable educational option for families, and online
programs have proliferated. Daycroft has helped over 150 students - working above, below,
or at grade level - achieve their learning goals.
Daycroft’s program director, Laurie Strand, has a wealth of experience in both education and
technology, including 17 years in the classroom, 10 years with online learning and
homeschooling, and a Masters degree in technology and education. Laurie loves to tailor
educational programs to meet the needs of individual students.
WHAT DAYCROFT OFFERS
Homeschooling program for grades K-8. For the past 4 years, Daycroft has offered
engaging, interactive online courses through Compass Learning, a leader in educational
technology for 40 years. The program provides courses in language arts, math, social
studies and science, as well as supplemental material. A unique feature of the language arts
and math courses is the diagnostic assessment. After students complete a placement test,
the system automatically creates an individualized learning path, ensuring that students cover
the concepts and skills they need at each grade level. Students work at their own pace from
anywhere there is an internet connection, and the parent serves as a learning coach.
Compass learning courses can be accessed only through a school program such as
Daycroft’s.
Cost: For a fee of $540 per year, students may enroll in an unlimited number of courses,
including courses at different grade levels as they progress.
