Kathy and Kellie with the decorating of the
truck – thank you for giving up your time for
our school. Also a huge thank you to Nino
Schembri for allowing us the use of his truck,
it was very much appreciated. One of the
best things about my job is that I get to
meet wonderful people like Nino. Whilst we
were awarded best School Float and
Overall Champion Float we were winners

Principals Report
Thank you so much to all the
students and staff who helped
out with our float in this year’s
Broken Hill Christmas Pageant.
It was extremely heartening to
see so many staff helping out
Our school’s Presentation Night will be held
on Monday 9th December at the Broken Hill
Civic Centre and will commence at
6.30pm. We are starting a bit earlier this
year as last year we noticed some of our
younger students struggled towards the
end of the evening. I encourage all families
to come along to this significant event on
our calendar as we showcase our students
and our successes this year. Be there or be
square!
Another significant event on our school
calendar will be our Royal Blue assembly
which will be held on Friday 13 th December
in the school hall commencing at 10.30am
followed by morning tea and then a movie.
This year we had 161 students achieve the
criteria set down for this award which is 17
Learning for all at North
more than last year. Well done! Also on
Friday our Levels Day will see our Term 4
Gold awardees have a BBQ lunch and
disco and our Bronze level awardees
invited to a picnic lunch with their families.
We have been looking at our numbers for
next year and trying to sort out the best
structure for all our students. Our
anticipated numbers see us entitled to 9
mainstream
classes
and
5
special
education classes. We have decided to
fund an extra mainstream class as a
strategy to improve our welfare options.
Our plan will be based on 10 classes, which
is to have a Kindergarten class, a K/1 class,
three Year 1/2, two Year 3/4 classes, a 4/5
class and two Year 5/6 classes. There will still
be five special education classes.
Throughout 2014 we will also be very keen
to build on the successful literacy and
numeracy programs currently operating in
the school. Additionally, we will be planning
to improve our efforts in Aboriginal
education,
improving
our
student
attendance rate, revamping our school
policy for literacy and numeracy and
continuing to instigate positive welfare /
values initiatives. All in all it is going to be
very exciting to be part of such a proactive
and productive school. Please don’t
hesitate to play a part.
These following students will be presented
with their level certificates at this week’s
morning
assembly
on
Friday.
