Its ideal geographical location contributes in making it a major economic hub in Québec. Montérégie is situated south of Montréal, midway between Québec City and Ottawa. It is bordered on the south by the States of Vermont and New York, and is easily accessible via several highways that intersect the region (10, 15, 20, 30, 35, and 40). Montérégie offers close to 5,000 guest rooms plus two convention centres and 320 meeting rooms. This hospitality infrastructure, located within a setting that is at times urban and other times rustic, is embellished by more than 600 products, touristic and cultural attractions, sports activities, plus an array of events. Regional gastronomy, characterized by creative cuisine in constant evolution and elaborated with quality local products, enhances the Montérégie experience. MONTÉRÉGIE GEOGRAPHIC AREAS PROXIMITY Ideally located south of Montréal, midway between Québec City and Ottawa, Montérégie is at the heart of Québec’s economic activity, in close proximity to the major business hubs of Québec, Eastern Ontario and Northeastern United States. ACCESSIBILITY Intersected by Highways 10, 20, 30 and 40 from East to West, and by Highways 15 and 35 from North to South, Montérégie benefits from one of the best road networks in Québec. Five bridges (including one tunnel-bridge), the Métro and seasonal riverboat shuttles ensure an adequate link between Montréal and the South Shore, the heart of Montérégie. DIVERSITY Suroît Located in the south west area of Montérégie, midway between Montréal and Ottawa, Suroît is especially well situated to serve corporate clients coming from the west area of Montréal and Eastern Ontario. This sector is distinct due to the omnipresence of water and bucolic landscapes. Vaudreuil-Dorion and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield are the main metropolitan areas of Suroît. SOUTH Montérégie relies on a vital and dynamic business tourism industry founded on five factors that make it exceptionnally attractive SHORE Neighbouring Montréal, with the St. Lawrence River as a companion and Longueuil as the principal metropolis, the South Shore area is characterized by its rich heritage and urban vitality. It is Montérégie’s foremost sector in terms of hotels and infrastructures serving the corporate clientele. The South Shore sector is at the heart of regional economic activity. Montérégie’s hospitality infrastructure holds close to 5,000 guest rooms, 320 meeting rooms and two convention centres, accommodating up to 2,000 guests for a reception. It is dispersed among renowned establishments in urban or resort surroundings, design or chain hotels, and in unique places such as vineyards, restaurants, museums or sugar shacks. COMPETITIVENESS The average rate of a guest room in Montérégie is 20% to 30% less expensive than in Montréal or Québec City. The fees related to hall rentals and food services are significantly lower than the rates charged in other large Québec centres. Parking and Internet are easily accessible and usually free. RICHELIEU PERSONALIZED SERVICE RIVER In Montérégie, the owners and managers of establishments, specialized in business tourism, work on the front line in direct contact with the business clientele. Their efforts are directed towards becoming your partner and they implement all necessities to ensure the success of your events. The Richelieu River area stretches from Champlain Lake in the south to the archipelago of the Sorel Islands in the north, passing by Saint-Jean-surRichelieu and Mont-Saint-Hilaire. The passage of the Richelieu River provides charm to the sector, renowned for its history, heritage, and the beauty of its landscapes. The distinguished hotel infrastructure is present in resort areas as well as urban centres. Montérégie-EAST 10 Montérégie-East is distinguished by the metropolitan area of Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec’s agricultural industry technopole, and boasting the most prominent regional convention and exhibition centre in Québec.
