 DAYLE’S DEPARTMENT STORE HOLDS ANNUAL LIGHT UP EVENT SHOWING SMALL TOWN CHRISTMAS SPIRIT! Amherst, NS, — December 3, 2013 Dayle’s Department Store of Amherst Nova Scotia recently held a very special “Dayles 6th Annual Light Up!” event. Dayle’s loyal relationship with Enesco Canada has spanned decades. Owned by Karen Cormier, it is also one of the last Department Stores in Atlantic Canada. “More than ever small town independent businesses are so important, not only for the economy, but for the spirit they bring to the town,” says Cathy Halfyard, Enesco Canada’s regional account executive, in attendance for this event. “Dayle’s store is a beautiful heritage building. Owner Karen Cormier and her staff spent many, many hours preparing and decorating for the event. Sixteen unique Christmas scenes, all telling a story, are built on elevated alcoves around the perimeter of the store. Large beautiful Christmas floor displays are situated in key areas. A stunning, winding banister wrapped with garland and sparkle lights, leads to the second floor, where timeless Christmas treasures can be found – a shopper’s delight!” At 7:45 pm, with over 500 people in attendance, all the lights in the store were turned off. In total darkness, with local talent playing music and singing the song "Light a Candle", each of the Christmas scenes were lit up one at a time. The crowd applauded and cheered. The local children’s church choir holding their lit LED candle performed their best Christmas Carols. An overwhelming feeling of Christmas community spirit emerged from this wonderful Holiday Celebration, a gift made possible by a very caring and giving small town business.
