OK HOG Rally May 2015 Newsletter
May 2015
Mountains, Vikings, Indians, Outlaws and Bigfoot
Do you need a better reason to attend the rally this year than the great riding?
The Talimena Scenic drive winds 54 miles along the crest of Mountains in the
Ouachita National Forest (pronounced Wash-i-tah). One of America's most beautiful and historic mountain ranges and an unforgettable motorcycle ride through
Oklahoma. Along the way you will crest the highest points between the Appalachians and the Rockies. A beautiful and mysterious region, the Ouachitas are rich
in history and scenic wonders.
How about an opportunity to explore ancient Viking carvings? Near Heavener it is believed early Viking explorers visited and carved symbols into a ten-foot
by twelve-foot high sandstone slab.
Spiro Mounds is the only prehistoric, Native American archaeological site in
Oklahoma. The mounds are one of the most important Native American sites in
the nation.
Explore Robbers Cave where tales of outlaws including the Daltons, Jesse
James, Belle Starr and others hid and roamed the area.
Many people near the Kiamichi Mountains in Oklahoma have had sightings
and experiences with something big and hairy. Beware of Bigfoot!
This year’s rally truly is all about the ride. We have 6 guided rides planned
and over a dozen self-guided rides planed so far. Visit our web site for descriptions so you can start planning which ones to go on.
If the riding isn’t a good enough reason to come we have great bands, and a
lot more fun planned for you.
