eah! It is unbelievable, but this is the 3rd issue of Sea
Settings Magazine! This is a very exciting time for Sea
Settings as it started as a bi-weekly newsletter and is now
on its way to become a national destination publication. To date, we
have expanded our reach to the Virginia area and are expecting to
enter the Alabama market within the next 4 to 6 months.
In this issue, we are introducing our Honeymoon section.
This section will be quite unique as it will feature only the most

One of the biggest
savings you can find
today is on the
wedding gown.
O
nline retailers are offering 30- 40%
off of new gowns, and even more
on stock samples and discontinued
items. Check their references, return policy and
business rating. Though there is a definite savings
involved, take into consideration that you probably
will incur considerable alteration costs.
Local stores may have sales, discontinued
gowns and more. Our best advice is shop around,
do not let a pushy sales person talk you in to a
gown out of your price range or tell you the price
is only good today to get your sale. Try on different
styles to find what best fits your shape. Also watch
your newspaper classifieds or local resale shops
because you really never know what gems you
could find!

Once you’ve determined the “style” of your wedding (yes, even
beach weddings can be formal affairs), your choices for color and
available flowers will be more focused.
Fabrics are a little heavier as the weather cools down, so
your wedding gown might feature a longer sleeve length, richer
laces and ribboning, as well as embroidered designs with rich
embellishments. You may want to add a touch of color here, too, as
wedding gown manufacturers have become more savvy to seasonal
trends. You’ll want to look into some sort of shoulder wrap, as well,
should the weather (or wind) become a little cooler as evening
draws closer.
Décor becomes ever important at your Fall wedding, and color
choices are rich in golds, oranges, rusts, and all shades of green.
Your flowers, both for your bouquet and table accents bring the
season to your event in warm, earth tones. Of course, you can still
utilize sea and island accents, including shells, sand, and candle
décor, but you’ll want to enhance these to bring in the season. Try
a color range of raffia ribbon or bamboo, as well as a wide variety
of fresh fall flower accents. Combining colors, especially in the fall,
makes for a wonderful visual, and your photographs will reflect the
warmth and magnificence of Mother Nature. Your bridesmaid’s
dresses and groomsmen attire can reflect your autumn wedding
colors, as well.
Your choice of refreshment can be Fall-focused, too. Ciders,
wines, champagnes and other liqueurs reflect the autumn harvests.
If you plan to serve a meal, you might consider fall foods, too,
in addition to traditional bridal fare. Autumn foods include an

You are responsible for selecting your tuxedo along with your
groomsmen. Work with your fiancée to determine the color
scheme, then check online or in your local tuxedo shops to
make your final selection. When doing so, keep in mind the
location of your groomsmen and schedules. You should make

W
ith the growing trend of destination weddings,

Crab Cakes with
Mixed Greens Salad
2 lbs jumbo lump crabmeat
2 eggs
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
6 tbsp cracker meal or seasoned breading
2-3 cups vegetable oil
Mix together eggs, mayonnaise, salt, pepper
and Old Bay seasoning. Add crab, breading,
then shape into 2”-3” cakes. Cover and
refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes. Pour oil into a
large skillet. Heat to medium heat. Fry cakes
until golden brown. Turning only once to
minimize breakage of the cakes.
Salad
1 10oz bag of mixed greens
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp black pepper
Mixed salad with spicy dijon dressing or dressing
of your choice. Serve with crab cakes on top of
salad.

Shrimp Burgers
2 lbs medium shrimp, shelled, deveined,
and chopped
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. grated vidalia or other sweet onion
1 tsp worchestershire sauce
Pinch cayenne
salt and freshly ground black pepper
peanut oil
1 cup dry bread crumbs
6 iceberg lettuce leaves
2 tomatoes, sliced
6 hamburger buns
3/4 cup tartar sauce
Put shrimp, mayonnaise, onions,
worchestershire, cayenne, salt, pepper to taste
into a medium bowl. Mix well. Shape shrimp
mixture into six wide, flat patties. Place patties
side by side on a baking sheet. Cover with
plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Pour oil into a meduim pot at Medium-high
heat. Put bread crumbs into a dish and
carefully avoid crowding the pot. Fry patties,
turning once until deep golden and crisp. 3-5
minutes. Transfer patties with a slotted spatula
to paper towels to drain.
Serve shrimp burgers with lettuce and
tomoatoes on tartar sauce slathered buns.
