Dear Parents,
After a somewhat difficult start to the term, its full
steam ahead with the ‘stuff’ that happens each day.
This term sees NAPLAN testing next week, school
reports and both athletics and cross-country
carnivals. As mentioned last week, students should
be wearing winter uniform for the next two terms.
Vale, Mrs Tsattalios
It was a fitting tribute to an outstanding teaching
career and acknowledgement of the high regard in
which she was held, that the funeral of Mrs
Tsattalios, held last Thursday, was packed with
teachers, parents, students and friends both former
and current. It meant a lot to her family to have such
support during such a time. May she rest in peace.
Term 2, Week 2
nd
2 May, 2016
NAPLAN provides parents, students and teachers
with valuable ‘point in time’ information on learning
and may influence the level of funding support the
school receives from the Australian government.
Cross Country
Our cross country will be held at Todd Park
tomorrow. Students in Year 3 – 6 should wear sports
uniform and appropriate shoes. Hats and a water
bottle should be used.
Kindergarten enrolments
It’s approaching that time of year – enrolling for
Kindergarten. If you or a neighbour have a child
turning 5 before the 31st July 2017, they are eligible
to enrol. Please contact the school office or website
for an enrolment form.
A belated Happy Easter
With everything that was happening last week, I
neglected to wish all our Orthodox Christian
community a very happy Easter, which was
celebrated over the weekend. I trust the time was
joyfully spent with family and friends
Congratulations to the following students who
received green Good Conduct awards recently:

Mila K, Ava P, Marina P, Angelina P, Kelera S, Abdul D,

Junior Soccer vs Brighton Le Sands
It was a fantastic start to the season for the Junior
Soccer Team and even though we came away with a
loss there was some great soccer played. A slight
misunderstanding meant that we were left with a few
too many players; however everyone happily waited
their turn and eventually got a run. As it was our first
game together, it was a great opportunity for
everyone to find their feet, learn about their team
mates and have a bit of fun. There was a massive
improvement throughout the game with a late
comeback in the second half and no goals conceded!
Well done to all the boys and girls. I cannot wait to
see how much we improve and grow this season.
Senior Soccer vs Brighton Le Sands
It was a very one sided match against a depleted
Brighton Le Sands team. The boys showed great team
work and sportsmanship throughout the whole
game. Alex had an easy time in goals this week with
the back line of Montell, Jordon, Harlym, Malek,
Matej and Ali letting through very few balls and the
ones that did slip through were cleared up without a
fuss. Christian and Christopher were scoring
machines and were well supported by Bailey, Jesse
and Jack who didn’t stop running for the whole
match. Tommy and Adrian played hard as strikers.
What a great start to the season! Keep up the good
work.

This little lizard was found at the southern end of the
school car park on a very warm April day. However
Bluey was very still and did not run for cover, sadly
this behaviour is often the demise of our Blue Tongue
Lizards.
The lizard has its head under the blue flower of
Commelina cyanea or Scurvy Weed as the leaves
were eaten by the first white settlers in Australia to
alleviate scurvy from lack of vitamin C.
The lizard was approximately 16cm long. It is good to
see that the Blue Tongue Lizards are breeding
somewhere nearby.
