Think green, think better!
Think green, think better! Think green, think better! Humankind has been dealing with the question of light for at least 3000 years. If there were no light on Earth, there would be no life either. The globe would cool down, the water would freeze, the vegetation and animal life would start to decline. Light allows us to use one of our senses: sight. During the day, it is the sunlight that enables us to see. What about during the night? Because our ancestors felt a lot more comfortable embraced by light, they started dealing with the question of how to ensure light in the night and in the caves thousands of years ago. At first they believed that light comes from a human eye. Only a 1000 years ago, an Arab scientist, Alhazen, explained that light does not come from the eyes. We can see an object if it reflects light. Light is not important only for orienting in a space and for detecting our surroundings, it also affects regulatory organs of the vegetative nervous system, which regulates most of our bodily functions. That is why light affects our mood, raises our working enthusiasm, increases our ability to concentrate and reduces fatigue at work. 3 INTRODUCTION The company LUMENIA d.o.o. is a young, promising and innovative company which is well known for its environmental care as well as for its vast experience in the field of industrial, street and road lighting. We entered the market in 2010; however, our tradition is long-lasting. How is this possible? It’s simple – our parent company STRIP’s d.o.o. has been engaged in the development and the manufacturing of electro technology and electronics since 1995. What is more, many years it has paid extra attention to LED technology as well. It was among the first companies that introduced a series of LED lights for indoor and outdoor lighting to the market with positive customer response. Outdoor lights showed great potential; therefore in 2010 the company LUMENIA was established. It started to independently develop 4 industrial, street and road lighting and continued with the production in this field. With its 19-year long tradition in Slovenia and the European region the parent company STRIP’s d.o.o. remains our indispensable manufacturing partner. Our vision is to achieve a long-term and stable growth in the area of effective energy use and environmental protection. Our aim is to become a company which is globally known for: • the use of the latest modern technologies; • the development of sustainable, highly reliable products which are cost-effective for mass production; • contemporary design. We strive for our products to be energy saving and innovative as well as environment friendly. We constantly try to improve our products and processes and to use high quality constituent parts. The product mix of Lumenia d.o.o. comprises of: LED lights, solar lights and various wireless systems for energy management and control. We are proud to say that we build long-term partnerships and collaboration with our partners. Our lights are available on the Slovenian market as well as on the Asian, African and European ones. Quality as one of our most important elements reflects in our products in the way that we pay extra attention to quality assurance as well as invest in the quality management system. Our manufacturing partner STRIP’s d.o.o. holds the certificates ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. Our virtues in the relationship towards our buyers are flexibility and high motivation for ensuring the best possible user experience. We do not expect that the users will adapt to our solutions, but try to adapt our solutions to the needs of each individual customer. We do not trade products; we offer our clients a solution. Decide to work with us. Surely you will not be disappointed. 5 ENVIRONMENT The use of LED lights has positive effects on the environment in different ways: LONG LIFETIME • In the production of LED diodes considerably less energy and material is used compared to the production of other light sources. • The extremely long lifetime of LED diodes (up to 4 times longer lifetime compared to other light sources) ensures us less frequent exchange of LED lights compared to other ones. • At the end of their lifetime LED lights are a considerably less environmentally harmful waste, since they do not contain heavy, environmentally dangerous metals that are present in other light sources. HIGH QUALITY OPTICS • The use of LED lights considerably reduces light pollution, because LED lights do not emit light into the sky, but other light sources do. • Thru high quality optics light is directed only to the places where it is needed. EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT • The use of LED lights helps to reduce the emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. • LED lights use 30–60% less energy as other light sources with the same luminance. ENERGY SAVING • The main advantage when using LED diodes is the regulation – at different times of the day LED lights can glow more or less strong, which contributes to energy saving. • The luminous intensity can be modified according to our wishes and the luminance levels can be pre-programmed. 6 Think green, think better! 200 2015 Throughout history, light sources varied considerably 150 Lighting Essentials: Solid State Lighting Light Source Efficiency vs. Time Light source effeciency 2013 White power LED Year of invention (Lumen/Watt) 100 Metal halide lamps Fluorescent 2009 1961 2008 50 1938 Mercury vapour lamps 1904 1981 CFL 2002 1959 1879 Incandescent 2005 Halogen 1996 1950 2000 7 ELUM | technical information Separated LED and powering part ASA plastic, UV-resistant Easy access for maintenance Valve against clouded glass and lenses Horizontal bottom surface against light pollution Coating against dazzling Scale for tilting angle adjustment Glass against dazzling Stainless steel screws Safe fixing to a pole with four screws Integrated foam seal Easily adjustable angle 0-90⁰ Powder coating Various optics Thermal conductive foil Self-cleaning profile Aerodynamic design Big surface for heat transfer 8 High-pressure injected AL ELUM 1, ELUM 2 Dimensions Lifetime ELUM 1 660 x 300 x 160 mm ELUM 2 970 x 400 x 252 mm ELUM 1 7 kg ELUM 2 15 kg L70B10 > 50.000 h Operating temperature -40° +55 °C Supply voltage 120 – 277 Vac 50 ÷ 60 Hz Electrical power Cos φ ELUM 1 from 15 to 60 W ELUM 2 from 40 to 190 W > 96 Efficacy 85 – 115 lm/W Temperature of light 3.800 – 4.500 K (6000 K or 3800 K upon request) Factor of color rendering (CRI): ≥ 70 Surge protection 4 kV (class II); 10 kV (class I) Max. area exposed to the wind Protection class ELUM 1 ELUM 2 IP66 Certificates IEC 60529:2001, EN 60598-1 :2008, cI.9.2.2 and 9.2.7; IEC 60598-2-3 (Third edition):2002 + A1:2011 used in conjunction with IEC 605981 (Seventh edition): 2008; IEC 60598-26:1994+A1:1996 used in conjunction with IEC 60598-1 :2008; EC 62031 :2008 (First edition); CE, ENEC pole Ф60 mm (possible adapter use for other dimensions) 0-90°, step ± 5° Weight Mounting Tilt Guarantee 0,165 m2 0,350 m2 Wireless control 10 years on mechanical and 5 years on electrical parts optional Installation height 3,5 to 15 meters 9 ELUM series The ELUM LED light is a high-tech light, which can be used for lighting of all kinds of streets, parking lots as well as other public and private outdoor areas. The modern, extremely thin aerodynamic design integrates very well into urban space. It is made of modern high-tech materials, which are tested in the automobile and medical industry. The modular concept enables a fast and efficient upgrade of the light with more efficient components as well as an ecological degradation after the end of its lifetime. The upper supporting part of the light and the rotor are made of a qualitative lightweight aluminum alloy. They are protected by a thin powder coating, which ensures the protection of metal against oxidation even in the harshest weather and climate conditions. The lower cover is made ELUM 1 10 of qualitative ASA plastic, which is known for its long lifetime in environments with fast, frequent and significant changes in temperature. The light is designed in such way that it ensures natural air circulation and therefore exceptional heat transfer, which is very important for a long lifetime. The surface that is big enough and is a result of the cooling fins on the upper part of the light enables an excellent heat transfer also at high ambient temperatures greater than 50 °C. With the help of the FIPFG (“formed-in-place”) technology that guarantees the formation of the seal on the sealing spot we have achieved a high permanent IP66 protection which does not yield, not even in case of possible upgrade work on the light. ELUM 2 11 ELUM 1: 8 or 12 LED LED The LED diodes and the printed circuit form a LED module which is fixed to the aluminium housing with a special thermoconductive layer. The LED module has from 8 to 96 LED diodes. The underlying element of the printed circuit is the material FR4 which is processed with modern techniques to enable direct heat transfer to the cooling body through thermal connections. We choose the components very carefully and therefore we use components of wellknown trademarks such as Cree and Philips with an efficacy that reaches up to 150 lm/W. The standard temperature of light is 4100 K. In case of different requirements light of other temperature ranges is also available. Hence, the factor of color rendering (CRI) reaches the value 70. In the past this was a critical component that determined the lifetime of the light. Now we have integrated it into a part that is completely separated from the LED module, reducing the temperature for more than 30 % and increasing the efficiency as well as the reliability and quality of functioning. The former most critical component now reaches a lifespan of up to 80.000 hours. Through the fitting of a modern driver we have set a new standard in the field of street lighting. With the programmable driver we have reached a unique level of adaptability and additional functions but have made no compromises regarding efficiency. While designing the light we have looked forward to the future and considered the fast development of LED chips. In case of a later replacement of the LED module with a new and more efficient one we only have to adapt the programmed functions for the driver exit to reach the optimal efficiency again. With a modular concept and a screwless connector system the upgrade with a new and more efficient LED module or driver is fast and simple. No light pollution The light is designed in such way that it does not cause light pollution. What is more, correct installation that includes horizontal positioning of the LED plate to the base prevents from dazzling. The LED module and the electronic plate can be easily replaced with the latest and updated version in an instant. An upgrade is possible for other individual elements as well. To ensure the minimum required light levels in an installation, most lighting designs are calculated based on the light level at end of the lamp’s useful life (normally the L70 point: 70% of the initial lumens). Thismeans that the system consumes more power than necessary, wasting as much as 15% of energy on average during its lifetime. The Constant Light Output (CLO) functionality compensates for this light loss, ensuring that both HID lamps and LEDs will always deliver the necessary light level. By taking into account the lumen depreciation, the driver can be programmed to start at a dimmed level for a new luminaire and gradually increase power over the life of the light source, saving energy and extending the lifetime of the system. Dynadimmer functionality provides multi-step dimming. The combination of five flexible dim periods and dim levels makes it easy to customize a virtually endless array of dimming profiles. Any level can be configured for any duration, making it possible to provide very low light levels in the middle of the night, high levels at peak times and anything in between during the transitional periods. All Dynadimmer schedules work based on the system’s on and off times. The configuration of the dimming schedule can be done before, during or even after the products have been installed. Module Temperature Protection manages excessive temperatures of the LED PCB board. High heat negatively impacts the useful life of the LEDs, and increases maintenance costs. MTP feature manages PCB temperature by regulating the output current of the driver. When the LED board temperature rises to a critical level, the MTP will first dim down and then completely turn off the light engine. The system will be turned back on when the LEDs cool down below the critical level. MTP protects LED life during occasional or temporary heat spikes, e.g. a sunny day with the installation not switched off. 1-10V Continuous dimming via analog control signal The 100% light level is determined by the output current level of the driver. 1-10V allows a minimum dim level of 10% subject to the absolute minimum current possible for each driver. When dimming via integrated Dynadimmer, 1-10 V can be used to override the Dynadimmer schedule whenever necessary (e.g. via central switch or presence detector; see Dynadimmer override application note). DALI is the acronym for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. DALI as a concept stands for an intelligent lighting management system that provides maximum control and flexibility in an completely open standard. DALI is not a single feature. It is a standard industry protocol which allows DALI-compliant components (ballasts, control systems, sensors, controllers, switches, etc.) from different manufacturers to be mixed and matched together seamlessly into complete systems. With DALI, design and user flexibility are dramatically improved vs. conventional, proprietary systems. 18 Optics Since we are aware of the fact that a safe and qualitative light distribution requires a secondary lens, we have paid special attention to this component. We enable a wide selection of specific optics to reach an optimal light distribution in each case. The lenses are made of PMMA, a material that is UV-resistant and does not turn yellow throughout its whole lifetime. A special glass neutralizes the dazzling effect and protects the lenses against harmful environmental impacts which can be the result of exhaust gases, sand storms in the desert, acid rain and vandalism. The inner part of the light is composed of color shades that guarantee the highest recuperation of light which reflects from the glass. With the condensation valve we ensure the air exchange, which is very important for preventing the dazzling effect without threatening the IP protection. 105º 105º 105º 105º 90º 90º 90º 90º 75º 75º 75º 75º 60º 60º 60º 60º 300 300 45º 45º 400 45º 45º 400 500 500 30º 0º 15º 600 15º 30º ƞ = 89% cd/klm C0 - C180 C90 - C270 0º 15º 30º ƞ = 95% cd/klm C0 - C180 Optics: 000 C90 - C270 Optics: 010 105º 105º 90º 90º 75º 75º 60º 60º 45º 15º 30º 45º 300 400 30º 30º 15º 0º ƞ = 94% cd/klm C0 - C180 15º C90 - C270 Optics: 001 19 LIGHT MANAGEMENT Intelligent Street Lighting It is possible to manage the whole lighting network with advanced electronics. The device is connected to internal or external network, which can monitor the status of the lighting system and, if necessary, to modify the parameters such as on/off data or light efficiency. This connection to the network can be used to set fixed programs for the management of the light flow based on road traffic parameters in order to attenuate the light flux at certain hours of the night. Moreover, thank to the use of several sensors, it is possible to know, in any moment, fundamental data for the efficiency and lifetime of the system as internal temperature of the devices or possible electronic anomalies. These applications allow to reduce the consumption for 20-30%. Constant luminous flux Usually when designer are designing new installation, they are using maintenance factor (MF=0.8) to ensure that the illuminance or luminance under the luminaire is constantly maintained over a period of time. For most light installation the end of service period is defined with 80% of luminous flux of a new luminaire. This means that the illuminance or luminance levels of a new installation are too high. With intelligent control the power of a new installation is reduced (80%) and is increased to 100% at the end of the service period. N eeded luminous flux When designing a new lighting installation, it might happen that the lighting level or distance between poles or any other reason leads to use the luminaire with power that does not exist. This is almost always the case if we are renewing an old installation. In both cases the installed power and also lighting levels are too high. With intelligent control the power of the installation is reduced to the desired lighting level. 20 Luminous flux in line with traffic density With the connection to the network we can use fixed programs-schedule for the management of the luminous flux based on road traffic parameters in order to attenuate the luminous flux at certain hours of the night. Software Interface c-LUM C-LUM is a modern HMI, a software application that enables wireless control and management of intelligent street lighting. With the C-LUM software it is possible to present information about the lighting system or information about a single luminaire. We can present the history of the consumption of a system or of a single luminaire with the History module. The Power Scheme module is the most important for us, since we can create schedules or daily power diagrams for the system or for the single luminaire. STREET LIGHT MANAGEMENT RF CONTROL In the midst of rising energy prices and new regulations operators of public lighting systems are driven to reduce operating costs and carbon emissions. These reductions can be achieved by deploying smart lighting and control management systems. C-LUM enables remote control and monitoring of lights to reduce energy and maintenance costs. C-LUM is an integrated solution-level wireless system that is easy to implement into ELUM lamps fitted with dimming control. A C-LUM RF module is fitted to each lamp and communicates via C-Net, a sub 1 GHz mesh network. The C-LUM enabled lamps connect to a Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) to support the twoway communication to lamps via the Lighting Server, controlled from WebView, a Graphical User Interface. Using WebView lamps can be controlled individually or in multiple networks. Each network consists of up to 250 lamps that are controlled by a DCU. To achieve power savings using C-LUM technology, dimming rules for certain times of the day can be configured and the system will automatically apply these rules to each network. In addition to saving power savings can also be made in maintenance. The GUI offers a function to measure the voltage, current and power taken from each lamp. These measurements are automatically checked against set points and can generate out of bounds warnings. This provides excellent reporting features and can be used to identify lamp failures and other potential issues that require onsite maintenance. OVERALL BENEFITS OF SMART LUMINAIRE USAGE: • Enables energy savings (lamp specific control and dimming). • Dimming parameters can be changed easily over a wireless connection. • Decreased maintenance costs, since maintenance personnel can remotely control lights by laptop or PC. • Effective lighting of small environments can be achieved, requiring frequent changes of lighting parameters. • Possible to expand the management of the entire lighting infrastructure by using the C-LUM central control system, which enables monitoring energy costs per luminaire or per group of luminaires, for example. 21 G-LUM The G-LUM linear LED luminaire allows for the replacement of existing harsh and hazardous industrial fluorescent fixtures and provides an energy-efficient light source.
