I am pleased to bring you another issue of our Rangers Alumni Connections newsletter. I hope you’ve enjoyed
this past season as we continued to build our team to compete for the Stanley Cup and celebrated our heritage
with 85th Anniversary events. It was great to see so many of you back for the jersey unveiling and other events
that commemorated another memorable year in Rangers history.
Our organization is very thankful to have alumni who are so active in
Madison Square Garden and Rangers business as well as the Alumni
Association. It is your involvement that helps make these programs
successful as we continue to grow the game of hockey and build the Rangers
brand by creating new fans every day.

was broadcasted live in the NHL Store, the first location where fans could purchase the jersey. During the
remaining days of Heritage Week, Rangers alumni visited local rinks and made appearances at the Hockey
Hall of Fame exhibit in the Madison Square Garden mall to greet fans and give away the new jersey. This

captains on behalf of the Rangers organization and the Alumni Association.

After the success of last year’s Skate to the Garden, a hockey tournament for adult amateur hockey players, the
Rangers alumni team returned to the ice for a second time on March 24 to take on the 2011 Skate
to the Garden champions. This year’s tournament included 16 teams, with 8 teams competing
in New Jersey and 8 teams in Connecticut. After pool play, the top four teams advanced to the
Training Center for the semifinals and finals. The Royal Bank of Canada Lions would emerge
from the rest of the competition as the tournament champions who would take on the alumni
team at Madison Square Garden.

On Thursday, March 24th, there was a buzz in The Garden hours before the face-off for that
night’s Rangers Senators game. Following introductions and John Amirante’s rendition of the

National Anthem, the Rangers alumni team led by Adam Graves, Brian Leetch, Bryan Berard,
Dan Blackburn, Ron Duguay, Chris Ferraro, Peter Ferraro, Stephane Matteau, Brian Mullen,
and Jay Wells took on the RBC Lions. Despite falling behind 2-0 early on, the alumni team
rebounded and the RBC Lions, despite a stellar performance in net, were no match for the
Blueshirts. Head Coach Rod Gilbert and Assistant Coach Nick Fotiu never doubted the alumni’s
chances in the game. The mix of savvy coaching, stellar goaltending, and offensive trickery by
Graves and Leetch were too much for the Lions to handle.
Boomer & Carton Shootout for Garden of D reams
During the Skate to the Garden preliminary rounds, Boomer Esiason, honorary member of
the Rangers alumni team, challenged his radio co-host, Craig Carton, to a shootout contest to
see if the alumni could score more goals on Carton than he could save. Carton accepted the
challenge and the shootout would take place during intermission at the Skate to the Garden
finals. Throughout the month of March, Boomer and Carton took donations on the Garden
of Dreams website from fans that supported their respective side in the shootout. The shootout
would go on to raise over $5,000 for Garden of Dreams and Team Boomer was victorious in
the contest.

The Hockey Development team elevated the Rangers Youth Hockey camp to new levels last year expanding beyond its three weeks at the

training center (2 skaters/1 goalie) to include a satellite camp in Bridgeport, CT for the Rangers fans that live furthest from The Garden.
The satellite camp was a great success and will continue in summer 2011 with two satellite camps (New Jersey & Connecticut). The Learn
to Skate Sessions and Power Clinic Series continued to be a success with assistance from alumni and current players. The clinics and
camps have been a great way to increase the Rangers presence in local rinks and grow the rink partnership program.
New in the 2010-11 season were the inaugural Family Weekend and Floor Hockey Clinics. The Family Weekend, a program for youth
hockey parents and their children was designed to not only challenge them on the ice but off the ice as well. The weekend was a great
time for the kids and dads to bond and spend time together. The Floor Hockey Clinics were launched in city schools and activity centers
as a part of an initiative with Coke Zero. The program began in December and was kicked off with a clinic featuring Michael Del Zotto
and Brian Mullen and culminated with a series of alumni-led clinics at the Intrepid in May.
Although the season ended in April, the Fan Development programs continue with the Road Tour out in the community daily and the
beginning of camps only a few weeks away.

In partnership with the Garden of Dreams Foundation, the Rangers have continued our efforts in the community “to make dreams come true for children facing obstacles”.

Throughout the 2010-11 season, the Rangers have raised over $300,000 for Garden of Dreams, collected over 1,000 toys and 2,000 winter coats,
and made many memorable experiences for children in the Tri-State area. Alumni involvement continues to grow with participation at events and
assisting with our online Retirement Night jersey auction.
The Rangers kicked off the season with the Launch Party with Ron Duguay and Nick Fotiu bringing Blueshirt pride to WHEDCo and filling their
gymnasium with interactive games, air hockey, slapshot booth and stickhandling stations. The next night the 250 children went to the Garden for
the Rangers preseason game against the Ottawa Senators. The efforts continued throughout the year with alumni visiting our partner hospitals,
stopping by to visit Garden of Dreams children during their Dream Suite nights, bringing holiday cheer at the Adopt-A-Family party, and leading a
series of floor hockey clinics at our community-based partner locations.

The NYRAA once again held its general members meeting at the Rangers Golf Classic. At the meeting,
President Gilbert provided an update on all current business, including the activation of a travel
allowance for all working alumni, and members expressed their constant concerns over the best
ways to help assist alumni in need. President Gilbert also shared with the group the first Rangers
Alumni Handbook, an all-inclusive informational guide of Rangers and Madison Square Garden
policies and directories, as well as places and points of interest in New York to assist the alumni
when they are in New York on Rangers business. The meeting closed with special guest Zach Minor
who led a workshop on harassment and coached alumni on ways to avoid these situations in their
everyday life.

with Confidence workshop and had this to say: “When I spoke at functions, I was never as organized in speaking as I am now after taking
this course.”

Bulldogs in Brewster, NY. Caroline, the first woman to win the
award, was named the 2010-11 Emile Francis Award winner in a
special intermission ceremony during the Rangers’ Feb. 17th game.
A resident of Mount Kisco, N.Y., Loeb was nominated for the
award by Steve Santini, owner of the Lady Bulldogs’ home rink,
the Brewster Ice Arena. Santini administers all of the youth hockey
programs hosted by the arena and works closely with Loeb in her
role as the Lady Bulldogs’ coach. He wrote, “She has passed her
love for the game on to many children throughout the Tri-State
Area, most notably in Hudson Valley by volunteering her time and
introducing hundreds of girls to the sport.”

Prior to joining the Lady Bulldogs program at its inception in 2002,
Loeb had been coaching the Bedford Rippowam-Cisqua Girls
Middle School team -- a position she still holds. A former college
hockey player at St. Lawrence University, she also continues to play
29th Annual Rangers Golf Classic
September 7th
in adult women’s leagues. A select group of Loeb’s players were
on hand February 17th to share in their coach’s special moment
as Nick Fotiu and Brian Mullen presented their coach the Emile
Francis Award.
