CHILDHOOD DIARIES – PRE PRIMARY ANNUAL DAY
'CHILDHOOD DIARIES' was this
year's theme for the Annual Day
organized by the Pre – Primary.
Presided over by our Chairman,
D r. M o h a n M a n g h n a n i a n d
graced by the
chief guest,
Mrs Rashmi Misra, Founder and
Chairperson, 'VIDYA', it was a
spectacular evening. The event
began with the customary lighting
of the lamp which was followed by
a breathtaking invocation dance,
performed by a group of UKG
girls. Mrs Sandhya Raman,
impressed one and all with her
welcome note. The speech given
by Mrs Rashmi Misra was very
inspiring.
The children of Nursery were
remarkable, as they danced to
popular old hindi numbers such as
'Lakdi Ki Kathi, Nani Teri Morni,
Akkad Bakkad Bombey Bo, Chanda
Hain Tu and Nanna Munna Rahi
Hoon'.
Various aspects of being a child
were highlighted which led to
moments of introspection. The
mischief of young Dennis and his
equation with Mrs Wilson, the
yearning of Dre Parker (The Karate
Kid), the composed nature of
young Stanley (Stanley ka Dadda)
and the adventurous nature of
Jeremy and Jemima (Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang) were showcased.
The grand finale “Aashayain”
highlighted feelings of hope, belief
and opportunity for children.
It was an evening that made us
nostalgic. We walked down memory
lane with a sense of utter bliss and
accomplishment. Each child was a
'ROCKSTAR' and captivated the

their
stellar
performance.
ALUMNI MEET

WONDERLA
It was that time of the year again, the time to make new memories, in a
place that was already filled with so many.
To celebrate Children's Day, we were taken to WonderLa, the girls on
the third of November and the boys on the 4th. For the 6th standards,
this was the first year they would be going to Wonder La from school and
for the 10ths, the last. We definitely did not want to miss it.
Then the clock struck four and it was time to return. We trudged to the
changing rooms, put on our school uniforms and from the boisterous and
naughty kids, we became the quiet and dignified school children. But there
was more to do. Everyone was busy collecting souvenirs, buying chaats,
pizzas and donuts and getting some tattoos done. Then, the teachers took
a headcount and we walked towards our buses, our pockets full of little
trinkets and goodies.
Full of energy, we boarded the bus. We were hardly able to contain our
excitement. Cracking jokes with classmates and humming along to our

DREAM OF REALITY
It's been a while since I fell asleep;
I see a land of paradise.
Swift rivulets, deep gorges and
gentle mountains which fall and rise.
Clouds float past like blimps of
cotton;
Jagged rocks lie on the earth,
uncaring and forgotten.
My spirit rises like how a peacock
waves it feathery tail
A tiger roars turning the strongest
frail.
The mighty ocean beats the shores
in agony;
Faces of nature large or small show
Soil has been turned to dust,
determination to brave it all
Crocodiles to leather bags,
And so do we, the human lot.
Nature has no one but us to thank.
A horse is spurred; an elephant is
brought down,
I wake up with a jerk, I rub my eyes,
A man kicking a poor dog is seen.
An eagle shot down and on the shore
a whale found.
We pray that every nuisance dies.
We human have changed the face of
the earth, the earth needs a veil.

HEARTLESS CRIMINAL
“Why me?” I asked.
“You are small. Nobody will suspect you”, he replied.
“What do we get? Out of all this? More deaths?” I sobbed.
After hearing that, he hit me so hard that I crashed against the wall.
“Have you forgotten our cause, girl?”, he hit me one more time. I kept quiet.
He locked me in that room and walked off after hitting me twice.
I continued sobbing. This was not one of the nights when I would dry my
tears and continue to live, hoping and praying for a better tomorrow. This
was not one of the nights, I would ask God why he had not taken me along
with my mother in that explosion. It was that night when I asked God why
I was rescued from the explosion by a terrorist organization? Why John
was bent on transforming me into a ruthless terrorist like himself? It was
that night when I asked God why it was the last night of my life on earth.
Anyone who reads the news will know about the recent series of explosions
all across the city. John had asked me whether I had forgotten the cause of
this terrorist organization. The only cause, aim and goal is to spread fear in
the minds of people.
What does anybody gain out of terrorism? I opened a scrap book carefully.
In it, I had pasted pictures of the aftermath of all the terrorist activities led
by John. Tears rolled down my cheek when I saw a picture of a two year old
girl covered in blood. Her beautiful, gentle hair was matted with blood. Her
pink dress was shredded to bits. The joy of a house was taken away by God.
I turned the page. An old woman was lying on the ground. Her pale blue
saree was covered in red blood. The spot on the pavement where she lay
was a pool of blood. The next picture was of a widow and her son crying
next to a corpse wrapped in a white shroud. Four children who went on a
picnic did not return home. Their dead bodies did. By now, the book was
drenched with my tears. Terrorism has no cause, no code, no morals and no
reason. Emotions are universal. Grief and death affects everybody the same
way. People who have done nothing wrong lose their lives. Does everybody
not have a right to live peacefully? It is a violation of their rights. Innocent
children die. How would their parents feel? Above all relationships, there is
humanity. Terrorism cannot destroy that relationship of humanity, no matter
how hard it tries. You just cannot kill somebody's mother, somebody's son
and somebody's sister.
I didn't sleep a wink that night. The next day, I was made to wear a jacket
lined with bombs. I was placed in a park. I was a suicide bomber now. I
looked at all the children. They were laughing and playing innocently. They
were enjoying their childhood. I never had a chance to enjoy my childhood.
Without my knowledge, tears rolled down my cheeks.
“What is wrong dear?” an old man asked me. I was slipping into an emotional
trauma and I told that man everything. To my surprise, the man smiled, took
out his phone said something which I wasn't able to comprehend. Within
seconds, the park was cordoned off and the bomb detection squad took care
of my jacket. That man was an intelligence officer. I was questioned by the
officers. John and his team were caught. I was sent to various psychologists
who helped me out of the trauma. I recovered slowly. Last night, before
sleeping, I smiled and thanked God for answering my prayers and giving me
a new life.

My name is Nyx – at least that is what I call myself, and let the world call me.
Nyx means night. I have forgotten my real name along with my past,
though I do get sleepless nights at times, when I sit up thinking about what
made me the man I have become today. I am wanted by the Interpol, but
they will never be able to find me. I am so skillful in my job, you see. Nobody,
except my partner in crime – Athena, knows what I look like.
Today, Athena and I are going to rob the Paradise National Bank. All the
planning is done. She would enter in her classic black costume, and I,
would be dressed casually. So no one would suspect me. They would catch
Athena. I do not care about what happens to her. Nyx does not believe in
friends. He loves himself and himself only. So off we went to the bank and
went through the usual rituals - “Drop your phones, fall to the ground, do
not even think about pressing the alarm.” Everything was going on
smoothly until I heard a dreaded sound. The sound of police cars.
Someone must have called the police. I needed to think quickly if I wanted
to save myself. I had a plan. I dropped my gun and knelt down along with
the hostages. Due to my normal clothes, the police would not catch me at
the first instance. By the time Athena opened her mouth, I would have
disappeared.
“What are you doing?” Athena shouted. I acted as if I was scared and
pretended that I did not know her. My plan worked. Everybody was confused.
Athena, shocked, did not know what to do.
Then everything happened in a frenzy. The police arrived and took
Athena away despite her arguing that I was involved too. Nyx? What
did he do? He smiled at Athena and chuckled to himself. Silly girl, did she
think I was going to save her? No. Nyx does not believe in friends. He
has a heart which does what it is asked to do: keep him alive and not
get into unnecessary things like feelings. He does what a 'heartless criminal'
does: he loves himself and himself only.

EXPLORING 'NAMMA METRO'
On the 17th of November,
2015 the Department of
Economics organised a
field trip to the 'Namma
Metro', for the First Year
PUC Commerce students.
The purpose behind this
educational field trip was
to evoke curiosity and
awareness among the
pupils. The students
became aware of the
significance of Metro
manoeuvres.
Around 170 students were taken on a ride from the first stretch between
Baiyyappanahalli and Mahatma Gandhi station.
The Metro executives showed a documentary which in turn helped the
students to understand the history, functioning and future expansion of the
'Bangalore Metro'. The officials also highlighted how the Metro helps provide
an eminent public transportation to the residents of a major city like
Bangalore, thereby simplifying the traffic congestion on the streets.

The walls that rung with laughter, now echo with screams of pain. The blood
that gushes through the veins was all that remained. Tears were dripping
from the eyes. You had pretended you were invincible until today but we
were always meant to be vulnerable, never invincible. The anguish and the
tears of sorrow can still be felt with every pulsated breath.
For a mother to watch her child die, or for a father to lose his only wealth, is
the worst thing ever. May be it was way too big a dream to hope for the
return of what was taken away from a broken – hearted mother or from a
disparaged father. That was when the blow had come, and all that was left
was the heart, now a cracked and stained glass. Their world had ended, their
entire universe swallowed up in this unfortunate incident.
The culprits can plod on steadily, pretending indifference, but surely they
would feel something for the tragedy of life which is not death but what we
let die inside us while we are still alive.
The smallest coffins are the heaviest but one day we will see you in the clouds as
“In every shadow there is light
In every tear, a smile
In death I know there still is life
That lingers on for a while”

The students were fascinated and astounded by the promptness and hygiene
maintained by the metro.
Overall, the students felt that the experience was not only educational but
they also had a lot of fun. According to them 'Namma Metro' ranks first at
