Winter 2015 newsletter
Winter 2015 Have a Fantastic End to 2015... But only if The Price is Right! Come and help us bring an end to 2015 the best possible way and you could be one of the lucky contestants with a chance to win some pretty cool prizes at Youth Go on Wednesday, December 30. We’ll be playing The Price is Right at 7pm. You’ll be sure to see a few of your favorite games from years past, (like Cliff Hangers and Plinko) some new ones you probably haven’t seen in the previous six years, plus a few more surprises as well. So come on down and have some fun at the best place in Neenah… 213 Nicolet Blvd! What a truly amazing year we had. We celebrated the 30 th anniversary of Youth Go’s Haunted House and focused on all the thing that make the project so incredible; providing fun and safe Halloween events for the community, allowing area youth to come together to express their creativity and raising funds for Youth Go’s programming! Thank you to our many sponsors and donors! Your generosity helps us to focus on the details, to be able to cover the overhead costs of the project and allows more of the money raised to directly impact our youth! Event Sponsors... Young Adults Group "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step," Martin Luther King, Jr. For youth transitioning to adulthood, taking the first step can be scary and unnerving, especially for those who do not have or know where to turn for support and guidance. In 2010, Youth Go started our Young Adults Group with the goal of helping our young adults make their first steps with confidence by providing a safe, supportive, and alcohol free environment where they can come for both peer and older adult support, a sense of community, and guidance. This group meets on the second Sunday of each month for socialization and recreation, dinner, and a life skill presentation. The program provides young adults a means of receiving guidance and support as they work to transition to whatever is next for them after high school, during a time where things are changing fast, new responsibilities are continuously appearing, and becoming lost and confused is easy; all of which can lead to a loss of self-confidence and the ability to reach their dreams. All young adults who are no longer in high school and are between the ages 18 and 25 are welcome to join us for Young Adults Group. Our next gathering will be on Sunday, December 13 th from 5pm-8pm. Call Youth Go at 722-1435 for more information or to RSVP! Thanks to a grant from the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region, this program is going strong and will be supported through May of 2016! Winter Rides Home For the past two winters we have offered rides home to youth attending our High School Programming. Starting on Monday, November 30th, we will offer rides home from Youth Go at 9pm to any youth living in the City of Neenah or the City of Menasha. Youth who are in need of a ride will be asked to sign up for one each day when they arrive at the center. Roundy’s Foundation supports Healthy Meals Program On October 5th Youth Go was the recipient of a $4000 grant during the Roundy’s Foundation Focused on Feeding Families Tour. We are grateful for the continued support of the Roundy’s Foundation which allows us to purchase food to use for our Healthy Meals Program. Dinner is served for our youth during our High School Program, Monday through Thursday at 7pm. Swim Lessons The Neenah Menasha Y is once again giving us the opportunity to offer free swimming lessons to our youth. They are hoping to provide swim lessons to young people who have never had lessons or have had limited access to lessons. The goal would be to offer transportation from Youth Go to the Y and back to Youth Go once a week for the eight week class. If you are interested in getting your child(ren) involved, please contact Angie at 722-1435 or angie@youthgo.org. Youth Go 213 Nicolet Blvd Neenah, WI 54956 NON PROFIT ORG.
