The Town of Vermilion is situated on the edge of the
picturesque Vermilion River Valley at the crossroads of the
Yellowhead Highway (#16) and Hwy #41 and is a muststop for travelers!
Agriculture is the primary regional industry including
cultivation of grains, oilseeds, beef cattle, hogs and dairy
products. Vermilion is a strong and effective service centre
for the agricultural industry in the region.
Heavy crude oil exploration development has found
Vermilion to be strategically located. The oil fields in the
Lloydminster, Wainwright Cold Lake and Elk Point areas are
easily accessible from Vermilion along Highway #16 or
Highway #41.
The moderate land prices and new residential developments
encourage easy and affordable relocation or start up for
businesses of any size.
Discover the town’s fascinating history and architecture by
visiting the Heritage Museum and taking a walking tour
through the downtown area. Stroll past tree-lined streets
and lovingly restored buildings, each with its own unique
history, now housing an array of shops and services. Visit
Lakeland College and their Emergency Training Centre –
one of the country’s premiere fire training schools.
Enjoy the serene and beautiful natural surroundings that are
ideal for golfing, bird-watching, picnicing, hiking and
fishing. In winter, cross country ski on the 15 kilometer
long track of groomed trails that Canadian Olympian and
Vermilion local, Beckie Scott, trained on.
Participate in many entertaining events that are always in
season, including professional rodeos, chuck wagon races, a
music festival and agricultural fair just to name a few.
The Vermilion Regional Centre is a 600 guest capacity
ballroom, fully equipped kitchen for professional caterers,
an indoor playground and several multipurpose meeting
rooms, it’s the perfect place to host your next function.
Vermilion is a worth exploring!
