Larry
Few is a consistent worker in
the church and a fire professional
with an extensive background that
spans over thirty years of experience
in the fire service industry and public
safety. As a Senior Fire Executive
and Public Safety Officer, his experience includes a thorough knowledge
of the Office of the Fire Chief, Fire &
Emergency Medical Service Operations, Special Operations, Fire Administration and Support Services. Chief Few has served successfully as a
Chief Officer in all areas of fire management prior to his
appointment to Fire Chief of the Fulton County Fire Rescue Department in August of 2006.
His present responsibilities as Fire Chief include preparation and administration of the Fulton County Fire Rescue
Department’s multimillion dollar budget and providing
oversight of the Fire and Emergency Services Operation,
as well as, Fire Prevention Services. He is recognized
for his ability as an Executive Manager that promotes
team-work with the ability to effectively plan, organize
and implement activities in order to establish a cooperative and results oriented work environment. Recently,
Chief Few was elected to the Executive Board of the
Metropolitan Association of Fire Chiefs. Chief Few is
presently the President of United Methodist Men of the
East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church.
He is married to Mazie Jackson Few of East Point. They
have two sons: Nicholas and Bryan Few. Nicholas is a
graduate of Banneker High School, of Clark Atlanta University with a Masters in Education and Leadership, as
well as a graduate of Brown University with a Masters in
Acting and Directing. He is employed as an Actor and
currently resides in Los Angeles. Bryan is a graduate of
Banneker High School and Tennessee State University
He is employed as a Firefighter with DeKalb County Fire
Department.
Chief Few has a combined membership of over 40 years
at both Mallalieu United Methodist Church and East Point
First Mallalieu United Methodist Church. As president of
the United Methodist Men, he supports the mission of the
United Methodist Men which states, “The United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship who
seeks to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to
seek daily his will.” Chief Few is also a member of the
Men’s Choir and enjoys singing each 3rd Sunday.
The EPFM United Methodist Men strive to have a successful 2016 which includes Men's Day, supporting the
pastor, members, and officers of the
church and mission work. The United Methodist Men's Day Weekend
will feature a Fish Fry on June 18th
and a Men's Day program on June
19, 2016. Please attend and enjoy
the festivities.

Father’s Day Prayer
God our Father, in your wisdom and
love you made all things.
Bless those fathers, who have taken upon themselves
the responsibility of parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death or divorce who
are parenting their children alone.
Strengthen them by your love that they may become
the loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

the time when Jehovah made earth and heaven,
no trees or plants grew on the earth, for Jehovah had
not yet sent the rain; and there was no man to till the
soil; but a mist rose from the earth and watered the

Then Jehovah made man out of dust taken from the
ground and breathed into him the breath of life; and
man became a living being. And Jehovah planted a
garden in Eden, far in the East; and out of the ground
he made grow all kinds of trees that were pleasant to
look at and good for food, also the tree of life and the
tree that gives the knowledge of good and evil.
Then Jehovah took the man and put him in the garden
of Eden to till it and to care for it. And Jehovah gave
the man this command: "You may eat all you wish
from every tree of the garden, except from the tree that
gives the knowledge of good and evil; from this you
shall not eat, for if you eat from it you shall surely die."
Then Jehovah said, "It is not good for the man to be
alone; I will make a companion for him." So out of the
ground Jehovah made all the wild beasts and birds,
and brought them to the man to see what he would
name them; and whatever he called each living thing
that became its name. But for the man himself there
was found no companion suited to him.

We take a special offering each month
trustees are working to keep our church safe
and comfortable for our church family and guests. Here
are a few updates on current projects:

the community with their urgent needs.
Through this offering, we strive to help
with the most urgent needs.
1. All floors on the lower level have been repaired.
2. A Renovation Team has been assigned for the lower level. Team Lead is Lydia Miller.
3. We are taking bids for painting of the library.
4. Winston Jones is the assigned Trustee for the renovations.
5. Flyers/applications for the Brick project will be in the
bulletin Sunday, June 5, 2016.
Trustees on duty for June are G.W. Banfield, Rayburn
McGuire and Wendell Smith.
We provide assistance with critical utility, rent, car repairs, and other urgent living expenses. All requests are
considered on an individual basis and are based on eligibility requirements. Applications for assistance may
be picked up from the Church Office.
Applicants are invited to Sunday worship services and
bible studies to further their opportunity to receive encouragement through the Word of God from our community of faith and friendship.
United Methodist Women
The monthly meeting of the United Methodist Women will be Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship
Hall. Please bring a covered dish. The program will be led by the New Beginning Circle and Carlene McMichael Circle will be serves as hostess.


Men’s Day
The United Methodist
Men (UMM)

celebrate the work of the men in the
church and in the community at the Annual EPFM Men’s
Day Celebration on June 19th at the 11:00 a.m. worship
service.
Our theme this year is “Men Standing Courageously.”
Our speaker will be John H. Eaves, Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
The UMM are asking all “Men” of the church to support
the Men’s Day Program by contributing $100.00 and all
“Women” of the church are asked to contribute $50.00.
The UMM have also developed a patron list where each
member of the church may solicit the support of friends,
family and businesses by becoming a patron sponsor:

Eddie McMichael Scholarship Fund
On Sunday, September 18th during the morning worship service, we’ll celebrate our 5th Eddie
“Bright” McMichael, Jr. Annual Usher Board Anniversary. We’re asking all members and friends
of the church to donate to the Eddie “Bright” McMichael, Jr. Usher Board Scholarship Fund during its six (6) month campaign which culminates September 18th. Your donation helps aid our
Junior Ushers who are graduating from High School.

June is Black Music
Month
Black Music Month began in 1979 when Kenny Gamble, Ed Wright and Dyana Williams developed the idea
to set aside a month dedicated to celebrating the impact of black music. Created by music business insiders, the group successfully lobbied President Jimmy
Carter to host a reception on June 7th, 1979 to formally recognize the cultural and financial contributions of
black music. Since 1979, Black Music Month has
grown from a commemoration to national proportions
with extravaganza across the country.
In 2000, US-Representative Chaka Fattah
sponsored House Resolution 509, which
formally recognized the importance of
Black music on culture and the economy
during President Bill Clinton’s administration. In 2009, President Barack Obama
further defined June as African American
Music Appreciation Month who declared
the start of summer as a celebration for all the black
“musicians, composers, singers, and songwriters
[who] have made enormous contributions to our culture.”

condition of our people and reflected the diversity of
our Union. African-American musicians, composers,
