Reflections
Capn’ Frank Director Frank Crawford
The nominations for 2016 NPR HOG Officers are in, and have been passed along to Big George. If you have applied for a position, thank you for stepping up. Remember that it is up to all members to support the club and help the new officers in every way
possible.
Plans for the party on 12/5/2015 are progressing, and it is shaping up to be a great time as always! We will celebrate at the Paradise American Legion, NPR.
The LOH has graciously agreed to handle the decorations and set up, and Elaine would welcome any ideas or help in making the
room bright and festive. Give her a call!

Food will be catered by John Flannigan, who did a wonderful job for us last year.
Tickets are $10 for members, and $15 for guests. Menu will be baked ham and turkey.
“Doc” Watson has a great DJ lined up, so there will be music to suit everyone’s musical tastes.
To reserve your spot and make payment, contact Peg Wells @ 727-519-4638 or wellsfamily@icloud.com .
Deadline for reservations will be @ the end of November, exact date TBA.
Please support the LOH and their endeavors, such as bake sales, food drives and pancake breakfasts. If you don’t belong to the
LOH, you can volunteer anyway. Donations of baked goods, pancake supplies and volunteering are a great way to give back to the
chapter!
Ride Your Own Ride………YOUR Safety is YOUR Personal Responsibility!
Cap’n Frank, Director
John Ott, Safety Officer
Just as we have gotten use to the barely bearable driving on the lessor congested
roads of Florida, we are into the season for the Snowbirds. These will double the vehicles on our
roads and cause many more accidents. One of the best ways to avoid becoming a statistic is to
practice defensive driving. To keep this short, since I am not a certified instructor for the course,
here are five keys things to remember:
1. Aim High in Steering Look 15 seconds into your future. (Don’t just look at the vehicle in front of
you)
2. Get the Big Picture Look for Hazards. (Other Motorists, Pedestrians, Vehicle doors opening)
3. Keep Your Eyes Moving Don’t stare. (Use your peripheral vision) (Stop the fixed habit stare)
4. Leave Yourself an Out Monitor the space cushion around you and your bike.
5. Make sure They See You Use your signals- (Directionals, Head Lights, Brake Lights, Horn, Hand
Signals) Make Eye Contact.
The next group riding class will be held in the conference room at Harley-Davidson of New Port
Richey at 10 am.
I will have a sign up sheet at the chapter meeting on October 12, for those attending.
Ride Safe and have Fun,
John

Could there possibly be signs of Autumn in the air? Cooler mornings and evenings, football games, leaves falling (I
know, not many in Florida), all clues that great riding day weather is finally coming back to our area of the country. I can't wait
to enjoy the wonder of backroads Florida in the beauty of Fall.
It's October and that means that the long awaited State Rally is finally here! The "Roar To The Shore" in Ft. Myers is on October 8-11. We have one scheduled group ride to Ft. Myers on Friday, Oct. 9th, captained by our fearless leader Frank. If you are
heading down on a different and want company, check with me, I have a list of all members who are attending and their proposed travel days.
Hope to see everyone down there and enjoying themselves! Let's represent our chapter in a good way with H.O.G. members
from all over the state! If you're not planning to go, remember that there's a pancake breakfast at the dealership that weekend
also. Drop by and help out or donate some supplies to this chapter event. Contact Elaine Plourde (LOH Director) if you wish to
donate materials or time. H.O.G. Motorcycle Shipping (Monthly H.O.G. Rewards Tip)Ship your motor cycle to other par ts of
the country or the world at members-only rates.

PAWSOME VILLAGE!
Pawesome Village Rescue is an all-volunteer, no kill rescue located in Pasco County. We use all foster homes to house the dogs
and cats which we save from shelters and individuals all over Florida. We are a 501C non-profit organization dedicated to saving
and improving the lives of dogs and cats that are no longer wanted. We believe that animals are not disposable and every one of
them deserves a chance at life.
All of our pets are altered and vaccinated prior to adoption since we do not want to contribute to the over population of pets and
for health reasons. We are funded solely on fundraisers, adoption fees and donations. We also try to help as many people as we
can keep their pets in their home by providing food and basic medical care.
You can see our pets online at www.adoptapet.com/
pawesomevillage or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/

It looks like Mother Nature is finally giving us a break from the rain so I can stop trying to convert the
bike into a jet ski. The number of rides that had to be canceled the last couple of months is amazing.
If you have a problem with some one’s riding on a ride, take it up with the R/C. If you are uncomfortable with that, then call me or the director. Do not have a confrontation with the person you have a problem
with. That just causes more problems.
I have mentioned this before but it seems I need to bring it up again. If you are attending a dinner or
lunch ride, it is important that the R/C have a correct head count before KSU. If you are either meeting the
ride at the destination, or at a ride-thru pickup, PLEASE call the R/C in advance, and let them know so they
have an accurate head count to call for reservations.
It doesn’t do much good to call ahead for a table for 10 and then 16 people show up.
As the communications officer, I want to remind everyone DO NOT reply to the chapter emails that
are sent out.
As Adam always says “See Ya Later Alligator”.

Ducky’s4 Joke of the 5month!
Ducky’s Joke of the Month
This biker lady has a heart attack and is taken to the
hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near death
experience. Seeing God, she asked, "Is my time up?" God
said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months, and 8 days to
live."
Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the
hospital and have a facelift, liposuction, and tummy tuck.
Since she had so much more time to live, new roads to ride,
she figured she might as well look even nicer.
After her last 0peration, she was released from
the hospital. While riding her motorcycle home, she was
run into by a delivery truck and killed. Arriving in front
of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another
40+ years? How come you didn't pull me out of the path of
that freakin' truck?"
God replied, "I didn't recognize
you."

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HELPING
A NEEDY CHILD ENJOY
THE HOLIDAYS?
Last year a number of us bought holiday gifts for children in the ad litem program. It’s a wonderful feeling to
be able to contribute to making to holidays special for a
needy child.
I will have holiday wish lists for children in the ad litem
program available for anyone who is interested. These
are children who have been placed in foster care due to
neglect or abuse and who need our help this holiday season. If you are interested please give me a call.
I will have the lists available by October 24 and will need
the gifts back by December 15.
Thanks for your help with this worthwhile cause,
