Christmas Cracker
With great excitement the Sharks
traveled with almost 40 swimmers,
rumors are; this was the largest team the
Sharks have been at a swim meet. That
support was evident as the Team was
able to win the annual cheer off.
Day 1 started with some immediate
excitement as Grace Revenberg and
Tasmin Willms started the charge in the
200 free dropping a combined
50seconds and winning their heats in the
process. That same excitement carried
over to the 10&under girls medley relay
smashing the club record, unfortunately
the excitement was too much as one
swimmer left a hair too early. While
Gabby Wolfe did not need to worry about
her reaction time off the blocks for the
1500m Free, she was able to swim to
best times throughout the race in the
400, 800 and finishing the 1500 in a
best time.
Saturday morning the team moved the
dive tank and continued the aggressive
racing with heat wins in the 400 free
from Emma Neufeld, Brooke Lamoureux
and Amelia Elder. Several Sharks were
able to achieve a top 8 finish allowing for
more excitement during the finals
session highlighted by Jared Theriault’s
200 fly best time and new club record.
The final session finished with highlights
in the 400im from Matthew Strilets,
Shayna Jewitt and Tasmin Willms
achieving “big” personal bests.
Congratulations to everyone on achieving
and developing in to a stronger more
competitive team of athletes.

The Comox Valley Aquatic Club attended their first international Junior
Championship held in Portland Oregon. The Sharks in attendance were Jordyn
Ryan, Juliana Bartemucci, Ben Neufeld, Jordyn Ryan and Cole Young, Brooke
Lamoureux as seen the photo.
The International competition is known to attract top Canadian and international
athletes. The fast paced competition ensured athletes were on their best form
during the preliminary session to qualify top 16 to compete in Finals session.
Day 1 saw Jordyn Ryan narrowly miss the top 16 in the 200 breaststroke although
in the process smashed the current SHARKS club record while teammates Brooke
Lamoureux in the 400 Free and Ben Neufeld in the 50 Backstroke both qualified in
the A final with new club records.
Day 2 started with Jordyn Ryan improving her own club record to qualify 10 th and
then smashing her record by almost 5 seconds in the 400 individual medley
followed by Juliana Bartemucci posting a personal best in the 200 Free.
Day 3 posted one of the most exciting days of racing with Cole Young tying a
competitor which led to a swim-off during the Finals followed by Jordyn Ryan and
Brooke Lamoureux qualifying top 8 in the 200 butterfly, both breaking the club
record and then tying in the final. The highlight of the night goes to Brooke
Lamoureux finishing 5th overall in the 800 Freestyle and qualifying for Canadian
Trials which is the highest level of Competition.
The Sharks would like to thank Bayview Chiropractic with their on-going support
and sponsorship.
All 8 Girls combined to create 2 - 10 &
under record breaking relay teams.
