We welcome all to come together and give praise and thanks to God. Through the celebration of the Eucharist and the other sacraments and devotions of the Church, we reach out to others in mercy and compassion and seek to share the joy of the Gospel throughout our large community. Here, with the support, strength, and inspiration we receive from one another, we are nourished daily on our journey of faith. (Didn’t we just take down our Christmas decorations?) I pray this Lent is a time of renewal for you and your family. In this Year of Mercy I especially pray you use this Lenten Season to experience the great Mercy of God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Besides our Saturday afternoon regular Confession schedule at St. Mary’s and St. Teresa’s we will also offer Confessions every Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Our Parish Penance Service will be at St. Mary’s Church on March 21st at 7:00 p.m. In addition, we have two special Year of Mercy events at Holy Cross this year. On March 4th into March 5th, St. Teresa’s Church will host “24 Hours with the Lord.” Confession, devotions, and private adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be available for 24 hours. On Thursday March 17th, a special Stations of Mercy day with devotions and prayers will be held at Immaculate Conception Church beginning after the 8:00 a.m. Mass and lasting until 7:00 p.m. I hope you can take advantage of the Lenten services and devotions that we have at the parish. Get Lent off to a good start by joining us on Ash Wednesday at one of our many Masses or Communion Services. Further, renew your devotion to the Holy Cross by attending Stations of the Cross at one of our Churches. Lent has arrived. Receive the Mercy of Christ during this Holy Season and live mercy as you practice acts of love and kindness at home and in the community. I pray you have a Blessed and Holy Lent. God Bless you and your family, Fr. Vince A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE (Mark 1:29-39) In today’s gospel Jesus went to the “house of Andrew and Simon” to relax but discovered that “Simon’s mother-in-law was very ill. Like Jesus we come home to relax but are confronted with problems. Take a tip from Andrew and Simon who “told Jesus about it at once.” STEWARDSHIP MEANS ‘SEND ME’ “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said, ‘send me!’” (ISAIAH 6:8) Every day – in little ways and in big ways – God asks, “Whom shall I send?” Whether it is someone to take on a new ministry or just someone to open a door for a stranger, God constantly provides doors of Stewardship opportunity. The next time you hear God calling, have the courage to walk through the door and say “Here I am, Lord.” OFFERING COLLECTION TOTALS: January, 31st: $16,106.00 Thank you for your generosity! ADMINISTRADORES DICEN “MANDAME A MI” 5to. Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario "Y oí la voz del Señor que decía: «¿A quién enviaré? ¿Quién irá por nosotros?' 'Y respondí: ¡Aquí me tienes, mándame a mí!'" (Isaías 6:8) Cada día- en maneras pequeñas y grandes - Dios nos pregunta, ¿"A quién debo enviar?". Puede ser a alguien para que tome un nuevo ministerio o simplemente abrir una puerta a un extraño, Dios constantemente nos provee de puertas de oportunidad. La próxima vez que escuches la llamada de Dios, ten el coraje de caminar a través de la puerta y decirle "Señor aquí estoy". The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death. C40281 (JA) - Holy Cross, Bridgeton AVAILABLE NOW!
