The Weather was Great, our day started at 6:30 for the setup. Scott, myself (Cindy), my grandson Mikie, Rodger and Pappy started getting things together. Setting up the Dunk Tank was interesting. The Black Sheep were there with the morning Coffee (Thank You all Soooo Much, we really needed that Coffee) and the Breakfast Burritos. This Group, of which many of them are also San Bernardino HOG members, are such a BIG help, They run the Traffic Control and the Bike Games, and just help where ever needed. There were more Black Sheep helping with this event than there were SB HOG members…. Think about it guys. Anyway… Here are the Black Sheep who were here (sorry if I missed anyone) Editor: (see pictures in the open article section). Pappy’s Bike was all decked out for the event… He was manning the Third Poker Stop at the Vets Hospital… Thanks So much Pappy, he poured his heart and soul into this event. We had some real dedicated HOG members working the event also… I want to give a Big THANK YOU to…. Donny & Margie, and Sandy & Ruben and Patty and Rodger and Scott and Darrell & Colleen and Bob and Lynn… without all of you fine, dedicated members, we could not put these type of fun events on…we also had the Poker Run, with Bob B. and Tim C. working the First Stop, while Bully and Mickey were at the Second stop and Pappy at the third. The Ride Pin was Really a Big Hit… (we still have some Pins for sale,,,get them before they are all gone) If fact the night before the Vet Run, Scott, Rodger and I rode down to Biggs Chapter meeting (that’s right it is on a Friday night,,, and it was fun) anyway we were invited to take Pre Registrations there because they all wanted this Really Cool Ride Pin….. BIGGS HD from San Marcos came up to our event and they rolled in like Thunder… It was breath taking. I took a bunch of pictures of their group riding out. I will try to put them on the web. But you should have seen them, a well oiled riding machine. Of Course they took the Chapter Challenge and the $100 dollars that went with it. Here they are…. Editor: (see pictures in the open article section). HI MEMBERS, I WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE THAT HELPED WITH THE VET RUN. I THINK FOR OUR FIRST VET POKER RUN, IT TURNED OUT GOOD . AFTER THE MEETING WE WENT FOR THE BURGER RIDE TO THE COTTAGE RIM FOREST. ONCE OUT OF THE FOG WEATHER. IT WAS SUNSHINE UP THE MOUNTIAN. THE FOOD WAS GOOD. THE DAM RIDE IS A COUPLE WEEKS DOWN THE ROAD NOVEMBER 13 TH .AND NOVEMBER 21 AFTER THE MEETING MAKE SURE AND REMEMBERTO BRING TOYS AND CAN GOODS AND LETS US, ALL THE MEMBERS AFTER THE MEETING RIDE TO LADYS OF HOPE AND SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR THEM OPEN YOUR HEARTS. ALSO DONT FORGET DANS OLD GUYS RIDE EVERY WEDNESDAY . Well moving on…. we had a REALLY COOL Dunk Tank. For some reason everyone loved throwing those balls and trying to dunk people in the water…. Maybe it was the dunkees, I don’t know. But my grandson Mikie, sure got a work out chasing all those balls. The First Victim, I mean Volunteer…. was Brandon Quaid, wish I could show all the pictures but here is Brandon… Editor: (see pictures in the open article section). His Employees really showed up to Dunk the Boss…. I mean Show their Support… Ha Ha Ha !!!! Our own Scott was next in the Tank,,,,, and Donny seamed to have a personal vendetta of some sort going on there. Arnold of the Black Sheep was a big hit….Don the Director of BIGG’s was in this Group… the BIGG’s chapter sure were happy to be throwing those balls at that guy….??? Then there was Pappy, who was the last to take the plunge. Rodger and I were so Busy taking money and handing out Balls that the time just seamed to fly.. Before we knew it, it was time to hand out the trophies and prizes for High and Low hand poker hand. And we don’t want to forget to Thank Paul and his wife Janet; who did a great job as always, playing that Good Ol’Rock n Roll.. And making all the announcements. And the Quaid Loma Linda Family for taking such good care of us and allowing and paying for most of these type of Fun Events. ACTIVITIES CHAIRMAN. PAPPY. We are looking forward to an even Bigger and Better Event next Year… so Don’t Miss it !! FLHRLB@YAHOO.COM Well it is getting that time of year again, we need to ask our members to step up and help out. This is our Club and we together can make it what we want. We have seen some real good examples of what a riding club should be… like the Black Sheep, BIGG’s HD and the CREW, all are great groups, and we can be also!!! I know that we all want to Ride and have Fun and belong to a group that we are Proud to claim to be a member of… So Come on it takes you and me and everyone to put this all together. The more helping hands the less work and more fun for everyone. That being said.. We need Volunteers. See me at the start of this next meeting to let me know that you are willing to participate. For this next year we need an Editor, Activities & Asst. Activities, LOH & Asst. LOH, Photo Officer, Road Captain & Lots of Asst. Road Captains. This years Transition dinner is not going to plan itself… so I need lots of helping hands. Please sign up to asst….. It is fun. So far I have a couple of volunteers, but need lots more Volunteers so far are, Steve and Pam, Patty, and a new member Tamra. See you all on the 21st, Cindy Gano Friends in Passing It is with great sorrow, I have been asked by family to inform you of the passing of one of our most memorable brothers in the wind, Glen D. Baker, aka “Snoopy” to many of us. Glen passed unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday 02-Oct-10 while visiting family back on the East Coast. While I have only few details, it seems there were no known health issues that came to bear. He was 68. Many of us remember Snoopy with his leather headgear and goggles on the V-Rod that unfortunately took a bad dump down in avocado country on a sharp turn a few years back when he recalled hitting a Botts Dot. It took him a long time to heal from that incident but he climbed back into the saddle and he rode. He rode. Many would have called it quits. He rode. I understand he “grew up” on an old Sportster, graduated to the V-Rod, and “matured” on the late model white Ultra (with air-brushed flames, of course!). “Snoopy” was a tried and true character by any definition of the term. I came to know him and his sweet wife, Julie, over recent years being a neighbor about a mile away as the crow flies. I live in Oak Glen, while Julie and Glen are on the other side of the Yucaipa Ridge (aka Oak Glen Divide / aka Wilshire Peak) over there in Forest Falls. I can truly say that man was a jack of all trades with his knowledge of construction, software, networking, FEMA, motorcycles, gourmet food, and a dry martini. Over the years, we hiked a bit up there in the mountains where he did quite a bit of backpacking and running his ole dog, Sam, like up by the Bridal Veil Falls. Glen and I seemed to strike a cord as he was originally from Washington, DC. I am a transplant myself coming from Maryland. It seems we had quite a bit to share with much of it based on our passion for motorcycling. But that is history, Glen has scootered into a new dimension while we are still here and destined to ride without him. There is no question that his riding style was aggressive. Many times, I found myself miles behind him while he maxed the throttle. One of my most memorable runs with Snoopy was doing the twisties up in Bristlecone Pine on the East Sierra on a spring run to Bishop. It was cold. It was snowing. He was running his Ultra. I was on my low-tech 97 Heritage Sof-tail. He was blasting BOSTON playing the Star Spangled Banner so loud that even the Bristlecones were shaking. But that was Snoopy. The world will not be the same without him. May God bless him. Ride safe, brother.
