Dear Principal,
You’re never too young to learn about safety, or to remind the people you love why the most important
reason for being safe at work isn’t at work at all.
To bring these messages to classrooms and homes around Victoria, we’re inviting your school to
participate in an engaging class activity to celebrate WorkSafe Victoria’s Jobs at Home Day.
We all have important jobs at home. It’s the Dad known as the ‘World’s Best Storyteller’, or the ‘Chief
Dog Walker’ Mum. These unique jobs at home are the reasons we need to be safe at work.
Anyone in Victoria can participate in Jobs at Home Day by visiting jobsathomeday.com.au and ordering
personalised badges with their special and unique job at home title. They can also order one for
colleagues, friends or family.
Class activity
The Jobs at Home Day class activity is a heart-warming way for your students to show the special grownups in their lives why safety at work matters, by creating a unique paper badge for them! It’s the perfect
activity for your students in the lead up to Christmas, and we think parents/guardians will also like it!
We have made things as easy as possible for your teachers to do this class activity. We’ve developed an
activity toolkit and Jobs at Home badge template that are all ready for your students to decorate and give
to their parents/guardians.
On receiving the paper badge from their child, parents/guardians can visit jobsathomeday.com.au and
order real-life badges for themselves or others.
The badges will be mailed to recipients with an official letter of offer from WorkSafe, and each person
who orders or receives a badge will be in the running to win a $5,000 Flight Centre voucher!
Badges can be ordered at jobsathomeday.com.au until 4 December 2015; the official Jobs at Home
Day where we encourage participants to wear their badge with pride.
Thank you for supporting this worthy initiative and remembering the reasons for being safe at work. I’m
sure the paper badges that your students create for the special people in their lives will be very well
received.
Yours sincerely

Notes for Teachers
Fun and engaging classroom activity for your students!
Background
Friday 4 December is Jobs at Home Day, where we recognise the importance of workplace safety by celebrating the
jobs we do at home.
Whether it’s ‘Chief Dog Walker’ or ‘Head Chef’, we all have important jobs at home that no one else can do as well
as we can. Sadly, it’s these jobs that suffer the most when we get injured at work.
Anyone in Victoria can participate in Jobs at Home Day by visiting jobsathomeday.com.au and ordering
personalised badges with their special and unique job at home title. They can also order one for colleagues, friends
or family.

We’ve also given you an example badge!
How the class activity works




Print off (double sided) the attached badge template ‘Create a Jobs at Home Day Name Badge for Your
Parent/Family Member/ Congratulations, You Have Been Given a Job at Home Title’ and hand to each
student.
Ask your students to think about the good things that their parents/guardians do for them at home e.g. if they
say their dad is the best pancake maker, the child could give Dad the title of ‘Pancake Chief.’ Or if their mum
is a good back scratcher the job at home title could be ‘Best Back Scratcher.’
Students can write the ‘job’ they have nominated for their parent/guardian on the badge template and
decorate it accordingly.
Students can take the double sided paper badge home to give to their parent/guardian.
Giving the badge to mum/dad/guardian
On receiving the paper badge from their child, parents/guardians can visit jobsathomeday.com.au and order a
real-life badge.
The badge will be mailed to them with an official letter of offer from WorkSafe. Each person who orders or receives a
badge for Jobs at Home Day will be in the running to win a $5,000 Flight Centre voucher!
Badges can be ordered at jobsathomeday.com.au until 4 December 2015; the official Jobs at Home Day where we

Thank you
