11 March 2016 CHARTS – Childers Art Space 7am start A delightful
Feb- Mar 2016
Hi to all
The year has started off with some wonderful rain and our region is looking beautiful and green.
Hopefully you have enjoyed the rain and not too many have had damage from the storms.
What a great turn up we had to the Community Christmas Lunch - from memory we had about 116
attend the Isis Club for our annual Christmas Luncheon. The Isis Club did not disappoint with a
beautiful hot roast and lovely desserts. We have had loads of positive feedback about the day, service,
music, cent sale prizes and this is always nice to hear. We want everyone to enjoy the day, afterall it is
all about you. Some happy snaps are inside this edition.
We have our Neighbourhood Centre Services Survey out also and we would really appreciate your
feedback. It is through these surveys that we know how we are travelling and what you would like us to
do and plan for the next year. It also tells us what we need to improve on. I know it can be annoying
but if you could complete the survey and return, that would be great. We want to make sure we
are providing the best programs we can.
Cheers Kirstin

Community
Christmas
Luncheon
2015
Whether you are under or over 65 (50 if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander), there may be
some changes in the referral process to access funded programs through Isis Community Care but
the services we provide are basically the same. If you require assistance that will enable you to
remain living in your own home, need some social interaction or access to transport, please call in or
phone the Neighbourhood Centre on 4130 4690 for further information.
The Day Respite Group ended 2015 with an in-house Cruise. The room was transformed to create
the atmosphere of being on board a cruise ship. The photos below show tables decorated with palm
leaves and flowers, clients dressed in casual cruise wear, wore coloured leis and played games with
a boating theme. Drinks were ordered from a list of fruit mocktails and proved to be quite popular.
Lunch was buffet style with chicken, prawns, cold meats, salads and fruit platters on offer. And…. of
course we had the obligatory Christmas crackers with the usual lame jokes, party hats and trinkets.
We had a few disappointed clients who were not well enough to be there but those who did attend
had a very enjoyable day.

Welcome to 2016. We had such a busy end to 2015 it was so nice to have a little break over Christmas and New
Year. We hope everyone had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends and relax and enjoy this
beautiful country of ours. The Child and Family program was very fortunate to receive extra funds through
Innovation funding provided by the Department of Education and Early Childhood in 2015. There were so many
different activites, events, workshops and training available to families, I’m sure everyone enjoyed the range that
was offered. We have produced a 2015 Innovation Funding Wrap Up flyer which will be available at the
Neighbourhood Centre and the Child and Family Building if anyone would like a copy.
We are looking forward to some more new and exciting activities for families this year. Working in partnership
with the Family And Baby (FAB) network we are foucssing on a new community engagement project involving
the Mem Fox Book – Hattie and the Fox – stay tuned. We also have an exciting family day and parenting
courses coming up too.

The new year is here once again and we welcome you all to another term and to share
some of the happenings that have occurred throughout the last couple of months. To
our new families we welcome you and hope you will enjoy your time with us.
As we enter this year there will be some familiar faces of children and educators and
there will be unfamiliar faces taking leadership at Isis Outside School Hours Care. As
you may all know Kylie Stokes has left and moved interstate and Leonie McGuire is
now the new Co-ordinator with Kate Wells as the new relief educator. Both Leonie and
Kate have worked in the child care field and they bring their experiences to utilize in the
Outside School environment. They are both settling in and looking forward to meeting
and greeting you all as you join us throughout the year.
