Summer 2014
Summer is well underway here at Camp Nature Kids. The classes have made
huts, examined the differences in types of dirt, leaves and twigs, had fun in with
water, made bird feeders, experienced the many talents of Adam the Juggler…and
we are just getting started!
The school age campers have been to the Gwinnett Environmental Center,
Chattahoochee Nature Preserve, Fernbank Science Center and had a visit from Big
Thinkers Science to start off camp this year. They are looking forward to many
more exciting trips before school starts again in August.
We are running a special promotion this year for our Summer Campers. If
your child brings in a new friend for a week of camp, your family will receive 4
passes to Six Flags!

Pardon Our Dust while we upgrade our
playgrounds. We are creating a new trike path,
regrading and adding new sod, replacing the
sidewalk and creating another nature area for a
butterfly bush and *bird feeder.
All the work will be done and ready for the
children during the week of June 16.
*Our new bird feeder was donated to us by the
Wild Bird Center of Johns Creek.

Summer Corn and Tomato Pasta









Ingredients
Salt
1 pound bow-tie pasta
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1 pint cherry tomatoes
3 ears fresh corn, kernels cut off
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn into pieces
Directions
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente; drain. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat the olive oil over
medium heat. Add the garlic and tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the
corn, raise the heat slightly and cook until the corn is heated through and golden, about 5 minutes. Salt to taste; add the vegetables,
butter and basil to the pasta and toss. Prep time: 15 min. Cook time: 20 min. Serves 4
