It is the world's tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping. The umbrella, synonymous with the tropics, is featured conspicuously, the main roof is reminiscent of an open umbrella,theminaret'scapafoldedone.Thefoldedplatesoftheconcretemain roof are a creative solution to achieving the larger spans required in the main gatheringhall.Reflectingpoolsandfountainsspreadthroughoutthecompound. 3 MerdekaSquare Merdeka Square(orDataran Merdeka,Jawi:)مرديکداترنislocatedinKuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It washeretheUnionFlagwasloweredandtheMalayanflaghoistedforthefirst time at midnight (time: 12:00 AM) on 31 August 1957. Since then, Merdeka SquarehasbeentheusualvenuefortheannualMerdekaParade(NationalDay Parade). 4 SultanAbdulSamadBuilding The Sultan Abdul Samad Building (Malay: Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad; Jawi: )عبدالصمد سلطان باڠوننis located in front of the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) and the Royal Selangor Club, by Jalan Raja in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The structure takes its name from Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began. The building housestheofficesoftheMinistryofInformation,CommunicationsandCultureof Malaysia (Malay: Kementerian Penerangan, Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan Malaysia). It formerly housed the superior courts of the country: the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Court of Appeals and the High Court of Malaya. The Federal Court and the Court of Appeals had shifted to the Palace of Justice in Putrajayaduringtheearly2000s,whiletheHighCourtofMalayashiftedtothe KualaLumpurCourtsComplexin2007. 5 PetronasTwinTower The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers (Malay: Menara Petronas, or Menara Berkembar Petronas), aretwin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat(CTBUH)'sofficialdefinitionandranking,theywerethetallestbuildings intheworldfrom1998to2004andremainthetallesttwintowersintheworld.
