Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT)
Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) Transportable communications for remote locations. The Rockwell Collins STT is a combatproven, transportable earth terminal designed to establish secure voice, video and data communications virtually anywhere. Designed to withstand challenging conditions and demanding operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. Army deployed hundreds of STTs for the Joint Network Node (JNN) program. These rugged, trailer-based earth terminals deliver up to 56 Mbps throughput – and they can be towed anywhere a HMMWV can go, or lifted virtually anywhere by a helicopter. Rockwell Collins has built more than 800 STT units since the JNN program’s inception in 2004. Continually enhanced using feedback and lessons learned from the frontlines, STTs are designed for sustained and reliable operation. They are supported by Rockwell Collins’ end-to-end support services and powerful MaxView® software for network automation and control. The result is superior performance – anytime, anywhere. The Rockwell Collins Difference >> Meets JNN specifications, while fully operational, for Munson Road, Perryman and rail impact tests >> Meets the JNN weight limitation while fully equipped and operational >> Features readily acquired components that meet current Army requirements – such as an ECU that complies with ozone-depleting substance regulations >> Supported by teams of field service representatives that include many former military signal personnel – among the most experienced combat engineers in the world >> Incorporates dozens of warfighterinspired recommendations from the battlefield – the most important testing and proving ground for any type of military equipment KEY BENEFITS >> Rugged, trailer-based and transportable earth terminal >> Munson Road tested >> HMMWV-towable and helicoptertransportable >> Automatic satellite acquisition >> Generator and ECU on board >> Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) Ka band certified >> Less than 20 minutes to set up >> MaxView software provides network management, control STT SPECIFICATIONS General Configuration Trailer-mounted portable terminal Antenna size 2.4 M Antenna control Automatic deploy, acquire and track Modem configuration FDMA/TDMA modems Data-rate per carrier Shipped with up to 20 Mbps (FDMA), (typical) optional upgrade to 52 Mbps, Up to 4 Mbps (TDMA) Amplifier configuration Single thread Upconverter configuration Single thread Downconverter configurationSingle thread IF frequency L band Applications Voice, video, data Modulation BPSK/QPSK/8PSK Compliance/certifications Intelsat, Eutelsat and FCC compliant; Munson Road tested Standard baseband IFL 100 M/TFOCA-II fiber Available RU 12 RU for customer equipment Management system DataPath software, MaxView, for network management and control RF Parameters Rx (GHz) Tx (GHz) Number of feed ports Polarization Ku Band 10.95-12.75 14.00-14.50 2 Linear Ka Band 20.2-21.2 30.0-31.0 3 Circular 120 VAC/50-60 Hz 1+ on-board generator 5 KVA 15 mins > 16 hrs Mechanical Parameters Installation time Military transport Commercial transport System weight Vehicle size < 20 mins HMMWV, Milair CH-47, C-130 Land, air and sea Approx. 4,000 lbs 193” x 87” x 95” (L x W x H) Environmental Parameters Humidity Temperature (operational) Temperature (storage) Winds (operational) Altitude (operational) < 20 mins -10 to 50°C -20 to 60°C 30 MPH/45 MPH (gust) 5,000 ft (max) 147-1086-000-GS 09/09 BUS © Copyright 2009, Rockwell Collins, Inc.
