The Secret World of Arrietty

Arrietty, a 14-year old girl, lives with her parents under human dwellings. Arrietty is part of a
little-known race of tiny people about two hairpins tall, called “Borrowers”. They borrow the
necessities they need under cover of night, living in fear that they'll be discovered and have to
move. But, when 12-year old Shawn - a human boy who comes to stay at home - discovers his
mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms. If discovered, their
relationship could drive Arrietty's family from the home and straight into danger.
The film has received the award of the Japanese Academy for Best Animation film in 2011,
and the Best Animation trailer at the Golden Trailer Awards in 2012. It was also nominated
for the Best Animation film at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards in 2012. The film
screenplay is written by Hayao Miyazaki.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days

The film opens with an alternate ending to World War II, when the islands of Japan are
divided and occupied by two rival powers. Hokkaido has been annexed by the “UNION”
while Honshu and the other southern islands have come under U.S. occupation. Hiroki,
Takuya and Sayuri are two young boys and a girl living in Aomori, the closest province in
Honshu to Hokkaido. These three young classmates become fascinated by the gigantic yet
mysterious tower that they see across the Tsugaru Strait, promising that one day they will
build and fly an aircraft to the tower to unravel its mystery. However, their project is
abandoned after Sayuri's sudden disappearance. Three years later, Hiroki finds out that
Sayuri has been in a coma for the past three years, a state that is somehow linked to the
secrets of the UNION tower.
The film has won the Best Animation award at Mainichi Film Concours in Japan, 2005.

Miyori in the Sacred Forest

After being deserted by her parents, 11-year old Miyori shuts her heart from the rest of the
world and denies any form of human relationships. She was entrusted with the care of her
grandmother who lives near a forest. While walking in the forest, she has a strong feeling
of loneliness. Miyori soon encounters unbelievable things and gradually realizes that the
forest is more than what it seems...
Based on a manga by Oda Hideji, this film tackles in a creative way the problems of
environmental destruction in Japan.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

A girl named Asuna is attacked by a strange beast on her way to the mountain, and she is
saved by a young man named Shun, who came from a faraway land called Agartha.
The two begin to open their hearts to each other, but Shun suddenly disappears. She
learns of the mythological underworld “Agartha” from her teacher, Mr. Morisaki. Asuna
meets a boy who looks just like Shun chased by a number of suspicious men, then she
found herself in a journey into a land of legends…
The film was nominated to the Best Animated Feature Film award at Asia Pacific Screen
Awards in 2011, and to the Golden Raven award at the Brussels International Festival of
Fantasy Film in 2012.

As the 21st century arrives, a new 20th-century museum has opened in town, for the adults
to relive their childhood. The owners of the museum seem to have other plans for it. The
adults start to behave strangely, people start driving vintage cars around the town of
Kasukabe, and one morning, they abandon their children for the 20th-century museum.
Shinnosuke, along with his friends, must now rescue his parents and stop the world from
returning to the 20th century before they get captured.
