Festival schedule:
Presented by Writers In Treatment, this multi-day event
celebrates film and creativity. The event showcases filmmakers who
make honest films about addiction, alcoholism, behavioral disorders, treatment
and recovery.
The festival will be hosted in Delray Beach, FL, at the Movies of Delray on
November 7 - 9. Other editions include Los Angeles, New York City and
Vancouver, British Columbia. New to the festival this year will be a series of
workshops hosted by The Florida Association of Recovery Residences that are
geared to help individuals with substance use disorders achieve long-term
recovery.
A Royal Hangover - 101 min.
(2014) UNITED KINGDOM. A relevant portrait
of a nation and its love of the drink, this film
serves up a documentary fireball, in equal
parts shocking, hilarious, sympathetic and
thought provoking; a film we can all toast to.

American Addict 1 - 89 min.
(2012) America has gone from the land of
the free to the land of the addicted. America
represents 5% of the world’s population
but consumes 50% of the world’s prescription pills. This film reveals the relationships
between the FDA, big pharma, physicians
and the media.
Blackout - 15 min.
(2014) Taylor, a 27-yr old alcoholic musician
falls into a momentous downward spiral by
getting arrested, being forced to attend AA
with her now sober mother and is forced to
choose a life of self-destruction or taking a
step towards recovery.
How to Touch a Hot Stove - 23 min.
(2014) Featuring narration by actor John
Turturro and exclusive interview with Nobel
Prize laureate Eric Kandel, Oliver Sachs and
others. This film points to complex variations
in human experiences and differences in
thinking, feeling, and perception.
Maybe Me- 13 min.
(2014) Bobby wakes up from a dream in
Washington Square Park haunted by the loss
of his friends and heroes, and encounters his
own near death experience and subsequent
challenges of survival. Inspired by iconic
artists and addicts who died way too young.
