90 mins Pif, the stage-name of Pierfrancesco Diliberto, is famous
in Italy as a TV personality (a sort of a cross between Kerry
O’Brien and Shaun Micaleff). His first film, set in Palermo, where
Pif himself was born, it is a powerful attack on the villainous Mafia
and its political allies and at the same time a funny and heartwarming romantic comedy. Nominated by one of our members as
“the best film ever made about the Mafia”
Evenings 4.30pm & 7.30pm
Her (M) 2013
dir. Spike Jonez: starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Scarlett
Johansson
126 mins
Do you have an iPhone? Do you talk to Siri? Set in a very
recognisable near-future, HER shows us where the world is going maybe. But is this a film about technology? Or is it a film about the
nature of love? Or is it even a film about the essential nature of
humanity? or is it all of these things. Here is an experiment for you
(if you are an iPhone user). Say to Siri, “I love you Siri” You’ll be
surprised by what Siri replies.
