Fabric Test Report
Fabric Test Report
Date: Dec 15 2014
Objective
To provide evidence of the washable, stain-free properties of our range of liquid bloods and wound
filler gels.
To prove that they can be completely removed from a wide range of commonly used fabrics, in an
array of colours and textures, within 24hours, which we have set as a reasonable period of time for
removing highly concentrated red dye pigments from fabrics.
To provide step by step photographs of the application of bloods and results of the washing process
to provide clients with the reassurance and tested methodology for removing our products from
costumes and fabric on set.
To identify if there are any exceptions to the rule and if any special treatments are required to
remove product in that circumstance. We aim to identify if any fabrics ‘grab’ the pigments and cause
a stain and if that occurs, test stain removal processes to be able to advise customers with effective
proven measures.
Methodology
4 step process:
1) To apply each of our blood products to an extensive range of named fabric swatches and leave to soak in
for 24 hours
2) After 24 hours, soak the fabric swatches for up to an hour in cold water only, chaning the water as
required – no detergents- to see if this alone will remove the bloods.
3) If any blood residue remains, apply stain remover
4) Should any residual staining remain, put the fabric through a standard machine wash with detergents.
Document results with photographs and identify what detergents were used in washing the
swatches.
Finally summarise with detailed conclusion.

Results
Step 1.
We saturated each fabric swatch with the following bloodymarvellous blood products using a
consistent grid format as pictured, and allowed to soak in for 24 hours.
Step 2.
After 24 hours, we immersed the fabrics in cold water to loosen the dyes and then allowed to soak in
the buckets for 10minutes – as pictured below.
We then changed the water to allow the swatches to continue to soak for another 30mins. This is
cold water only- no detergents or warm water used.
The result of this first stage of cleaning confirmed that all residue of blood dyes vanished from 23 out
of 26 fabric swatches after simply soaking the swatches in cold water only.
A barely visible residue was seen on cord, denim and lycra only.
RESULT:
Step 3.
A slight pinkness was faintly evident on the cord, lycra and reverse of the denim, as pictured below:
So these three swatches only, had
ECOZONE stain remover applied as per
instructions: apply to dry fabric and apply
stain remover neat, fabric then agitated in
warm water).
RESULT: Residual stains were completely
removed with little effort- see image.
FINAL CONCLUSION:
BLOODYMARVELLOUS BLOOD PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO NOT STAIN AND EASILY
WASH FREE FROM A VAST MAJORITY OF BOTH NATURAL AND MANMADE FABRICS USING
JUST COLD WATER AFTER 24 HOURS.
WHERE SLIGHT RESIDUAL STAINING OCURRED IN 2 OF THE 26 FABRICS TESTED, A STANDARD
SUPERMARKET BOUGHT STAIN REMOVER COMPLETELY REMOVED ALL TRACES OF STAINING
AFTER JUST 10MINUTES.
WE THERFORE FEEL VERY CONFIDENT TO CONTINUE TO REASSURE OUR CUSTOMERS THAT OUR
PRODUCTS GENUINELY LIVE UP TO OUR CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE SAFE TO USE ON SKIN, FABRICS
AND SETS.
Given the endless array of materials that exist, we are committed to continuing to test the way our
blood products affect different fabrics and continue to advise customers to test for staining before
use if concerned and particularly if applying to fabrics not listed in our report.
Due to the high red dye content of any theatrical blood product, we feel that 24 hours is a reasonable
timeframe in which we advise all products to be cleaned from garments.
