Columbia Artists Management Inc. has announced the addition of Sarah Ioannides to its roster of artists under the personal direction of Vice President, Mark Z. Alpert. Contract extended through 2012 The Spartanburg Philharmonic announced that Sarah Ioannides has renewed her contract as Music Director through the 2011 -2012 season after which the contract becomes evergreen, automatically renewing each season by Southern Living Texas May 2009 mutual agreement. Board President Pat Tatham stated, "We are indeed fortunate to have Maestra Ioannides extend her contrat once again. She brings tremendous talent and grace to the concert stage. Maestra Ioannides has been wonderful to work wih during these critical financial times. She has managed to continue to present quality programming on a shoestring. Next season's programming is a fine example of her commitment to the Spartanburg Philharmonic and to music in Spartanburg. We hope to have her remain in Spartanburg for many years to come. Link to articles. Concert News Sold Out Performances in Lyon Ioannides' debut with the Orchestre Nationale de Lyon featured two sold out performances at the Auditorium de Lyon. The music of Django Rheinhart exploded with excitement in a performance with jazz virtuosos Biréli Rehearsal with Zuill Bailey Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra Lagrène, Florin Niculescu and Richard Galliano. Entitled Symphonic Django, the program celebrated the music of the prominent European jazz musician. Les Temps, a family program of music and theater included selections from Prokofiev's Cinderella, Bernstein's On the Town, Aubert's Confidence and the Shostakovich Suite on Finnish Themes. Spirited finales conclude Concert Seasons Cellist, Zuill Bailey concluded the Spartanburg Philharmonic season to a sold out hall at historic Twichell Auditorium. Ioannides’ led the orchestra in the Elgar Cello Concerto, Finlandia and Dvorak's 8th Symphony. Multimedia technology enthralled the audience with projected imagery capturing dramatic visual elements rarely seen during performances. Americana, the Year of the Organ featured the world premiere of a new arrangement of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue reconstructed for organ and orchestra with Douglas Major, former organist of National Cathedral and The El Paso Symphony Orchestra.
