Each blockfile has four drawers and will accommodate 400 card mounts or up to 200 glass mounted slides (depending on the thickness). Each drawer has slots in the front to accommodate an index card identifying the general contents, and the inside of each drawer is divided with three adjustable plastic index spacers on which group titles can be written in ink or pencil. Extra spacers for closer indexing can be obtained if required. Group filing in the Paterson Blockfile provides an ideal method of filing for the amateur who does not want the labour involved in filing and indexing each slide separately in the ordinary grooved type of box, or for the professional who wants to be able to file a large number of slides in the smallest possible space and yet to be able to locate any slide readily when required. Each Blockfile is a c o m p l e t e u n i t in itself, or a number of Blockfiles may be stacked together to form a complete storage-index system for any number of transparencies. It is dust-proof and the compact size—no larger in height or depth than a book—enables individual units to be stored on an ordinary bookshelf where their fine finish and appearance make them a handsome addition to any home library Price: Extra index spacers, per (packet of 8). AVAILABLE JUNE/JULY, 1959 P A T E R S O N N E W T Y P E 35mm. TRANSPARENCY FRAMES Packed in boxes of 20, Paterson new type Frames incorporate entirely new features, giving complete protection to the transparency from dust or damage. N e w one-piece construction. The entire frame is in one piece, consisting of an envelope with a hinged side portion. In use the glasses are removed from the envelope by opening the hinged portion, and the transparency inserted between them. It is then only necessary to re-insert the glasses in the frame and snap shut the hinged portion. The transparency is automatically centred in the frame. The former difficulties of holding the glasses and film in alignment and awkward fitting together of separate frame parts is entirely eliminated. N e w Spring-Back. This important new advance in frame design holds the transparency and glasses pressed together flat and dust-free at all times. No other frame possesses this feature, which automatically compensates for variations in film thickness and greatly reduces the incidence of Newton's Rings. The accurate register of the film and glasses against one side of the frame makes them specially suitable for use in automatic projectors, when re-focusing during projection is to be avoided. Built-in Spotting Feature. A new idea for instant correct spotting of the slide during mounting. Construction in heat resistant cream plastic with liberal size title panel. Price per box of 20, complete with glasses: Box of 20 spare glasses, per box 1/3 P A T E R S O N SEALMASKS For minimising Newton's Rings and " gasket seal " protection from dust and dirt, use Paterson Sealmasks. MODEL II DEVELOPING TANK A l l Paterson tanks are finished in mirror-surface polystyrene for utmost resistance to solutions. A l l Paterson Tanks nave transparent spirals for colour processing For film sizes 120/620, 127 (V.P.), 20 exposures 35 mm. (or Kodak Bantam). Ever since their first appearance Paterson Tanks have led the field in the introduction of new features for improving the ease and efficiency of processing. The Major II model gives the greatest economy of solution for processing the popular roll-film sizes or a 20-exposure length 35 mm. film. Adjustable Self-Loading Spiral, Inversion Agitation and Central Rapid Pouring are all incorporated. Solution required: 120 or 620 film— 10½ozs - 3 0 0 c c , 127 (V.P.) film 8ozs - 2 3 0 c c , 20 exposures 35 mm. (or Bantam) film 6½ ozs - 185cc PATERSON DOUBLE AND TRIPLE MAJOR II TANKS These models have extra long tank bodies which accommodate two or three spirals respectively. One or two spirals can be used in the Double tank, while in the Triple tank, one, t w o or three spirals may be used The arrangement of the spirals one above the other makes the tanks very economical. For example, one 120/620 size film requires I0½ OZS.-300 c.c. solution, two films require 21 ozs.-600 c.c., three films require 30½ ozs.-865 c.c. DOUBLE MAJOR II complete with two spirals: £2-7-6 TRIPLE MAJOR II complete with three spirals: Designed exclusively for the 35 mm. worker, it is the only tank which completely eliminates difficulties in loading a full 35 mm. film length. Simply insert the end of the film into the spiral entrance, then oscillate the two halves of the spiral. Patented ratchet teeth, engaging in the film perforations, draw the whole length of film into the spiral without difficulty or jamming. This tank is specially recommended for use with cameras such as the Leica, as it loads without difficulty films which have been straightened by being wound on the camera take-up spool in the reverse direction to their normal curl. Solution required for full length film is only 8½ozs — 2 4 5 c c PATERSON 35mm. MODEL II TRIPLE TANK Holds up to three spirals for simultaneous processing of one to three films. Spirals are loaded in the usual way, and then locked together to form a column by simply pushing the top of one spiral into the bottom of the next. Ordinary or inversion agitation may be used, as on the standard model. Solutions required: 1 film 8½ozs — 2 4 5 c c , 2 films 18ozs — 5 1 0 c c , 3 films 26ozs — 7 4 0 c c TRIPLE " 3 5 " MODEL II complete with three spirals: £3-0-0 PATERSON ENLARGING LARGE FOCUS SCREEN PATERSON FORCE FILM WASHER FINDER For use with any vertical enlarger. Placed upon the baseboard it greatly facilitates focusing and enables dead sharp enlargements to be made with certainty, The fine quality 2¼ in. sq. ground glass screen, large enough to be scrutinised in comfort, reflects the image with great brilliance and clarity. Moulded to precision standards in high grade plastic and attractively finished. PATERSON MAGNIFIER A high-class magnifier for general use. Can also be clipped on to the front of the Paterson Large Screen Enlarging focus finder Hinged construction enables lens to be swung up out of position for preliminary viewing. It can then be swung down for final critical examination. Large diameter optically worked lens enables both eyes to view image in comfort. A new accessory which is suitable for use with all Paterson model II tanks, i.e. Paterson 35 II, Major II, Universal II and the Double and Triple model tanks. The accessory consists of a length of rubber hose with a special tap adaptor and a rigid end portion which fits into the position of the agitator rod in the tank. In use the agitator rod of the tank is removed and the rigid end portion pushed into the tank to grip the bottom of the spiral in the same way as the agitator rod. This forms a definite seal at the base of the tank so that the washing water is forced under positive pressure into the bottom of the tank and circulates upwards. Washing can be carried out either with the lid of the tank in position or with the lid removed. A special tap adaptor fits the usual size of domestic tap and grips the tap firmly without blowing off even when under pressure. PATERSON UNIVERSAL DEVELOPING TANK II For all sizes of film from full length 35 mm. to 116 roll film. By reason of its universal adaptability to all film sizes this model is popular favourite in the famous Paterson range. The exclusive Paterson features of Self-loading Spiral, Inversion Agitation and Central Rapid Pouring are all incorporated. A new type stainless steel clip instantly adjusts the spiral to any size of film. The transparent spiral enables colour film to be re-exposed during processing without removal, thus eliminating the difficulties of reloading wet film. Wide thermometer entry permits easy temperature readings during development. The amounts of solution required for the various film sizes are as follows: 35 mm. (or Bantam) 11ozs — 3 1 0 c c , 127 (V.P.) 14ozs — 4 0 0 c c , 120 or 620 17½ozs — 5 0 0 c c , 116 or 616 I9½ozs — 5 5 0 c c SOLUTION ECONOMISERS made exclusively for the Paterson Universal Tank Solution economisers consist of a cylinder with a hollow core which slips over the central column of the spiral and takes up the space which would normally be filled by unused solution. Made in two sizes, for use with 127 (V.P.) film or 120-620 films, each size effects a saving of 3½ozs — 100cc solution on each film processed. Each PATERSON SAFELICHT LAMP Interchangeable Safelight, either colour. Complete safelight, orange. with red one or Universal adaptability is one of the special features of the Paterson Lamp. The illustrations below show how (I) it stands on the workbench, (2) it hangs on the wall, (3) it hangs from the ceiling. Unlike other darkroom lamps, which are designed only as covers for an existing pendant lamp, the Paterson Safelight Lamp is complete in itself with its own lampholder, flex and coloured screw-on cover which forms the safelight. Safelights are available in Orange or Red, and are interchangeable. The O r a n g e safelight is suitable for all papers, contact (gaslight), bromide or chlorobromide, and is recommended for printing or enlarging as it gives the brightest illumination. The Red safelight is suitable for handling Orthochromatic films. It is also suitable for all papers, though the illumination is not so bright as with the Orange safelight. A light-trapped ventilation system in the base allows circulation of air to prevent overheating of the lamp when in use. A standard 15-watt bulb (obtainable from any electrical dealer) is used with the safelight. The Paterson Safelight Lamp is modern in design and is beautifully finished in durable highest grade plastic
