X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE 9 million visits to Québec’s four casinos every year In addition to being the source of major dividends paid to the Government of Québec, the casinos generate significant economic spinoffs for the province. Through diversification into complementary hotel and entertainment services, the casinos help stimulate tourism. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE $960 million in prizes awarded to lottery and bingo winners Loto-Québec awarded close to $960 million in lottery prizes from April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2016. Of that amount, more than $25 million was won by bingo and Kinzo players. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE $42 million in special contributions to governments In 2015-2016, Loto-Québec paid out $42 million in special contributions to the Québec and federal governments. Special contributions include compensation paid to the Government of Canada for its withdrawal from the lottery field ($16.8 million) and amounts paid to various specific-use Government of Québec accounts ($25 million). These specific-use accounts include, for example, payments to various government ministries. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE 8,500 lottery retailers Loto Québec’s distribution network is one of the biggest in Québec, encompassing more than 8,500 retailers, each equipped with a game terminal. Retailers received $125 million in commission during the fiscal year. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE $1.202 billion in dividends paid to the Government of Québec Between April 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016, Loto-Québec paid $1.202B in dividends to the Ministère des Finances. This contribution helped fund major health, education and infrastructure government programs, as well as paying down the provincial debt. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE $262 million in purchases from companies conducting business in Québec In 2015-2016, Loto-Québec purchased in excess of $262 million in goods and services from more than 3,200 suppliers conducting business in Québec. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE 12,000 video lottery terminals Loto-Québec’s video lottery terminal network is comprised of some 12,000 terminals installed in approximately 2,000 businesses. The per-capita ratio of terminals and businesses is the lowest in Canada. Video lotteries account for half of Loto-Québec’s net earnings, which came to $574 million dollars in 2015-2016. X LOTO-QUÉBEC: AN ECONOMIC FORCE 5,800 employees Loto-Québec and its subsidiaries employ some 5,800 people, of which nearly 4,500 work in the Québec casinos. The Corporation offers its employees a range of benefits (retirement plan, group RRSP, group insurance, health programs, etc.) and good salary advancement. X
