We will soon be kicking off our fall fundraiser, Boosterthon! We are excited to be joining with the Boosterthon team again this year. They will be on our campus during September, teaching our students about making
good choices as well as helping us raise funds for our school. We are going to continue to focus on raising funds this
year for additional technology such as ipads & Apple TVs in more classrooms, more playground equipment and a much
needed marquee. Thanks, in advance for supporting our school and helping make this fall fundraiser another success.
We hope you will be able to join us Friday, October 2nd from 6:00-8:00 for our Back to School Fall Family
Fun Night! This is a great evening outside with food trucks, a DJ, pieing teachers in the face and ends with an epic
Silly String War - Teachers/Staff vs. students. You won’t want to miss this fun block party! There will be some
fun food trucks here as well. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs!
Thank you for sharing your children with us! You and your children are a blessing to us! I can
assure you your children are being taught by a wonderful staff, truly dedicated to helping all students
be successful!

We are loving school! We are
learning rules, procedures and
names of our teachers and
friends. Our unit this month is
"This Way to Pre-K”! We will focus on learning the Falcon Four,
letters in our names, alphabet,
listening, and attributes. We are
learning respect and responsibil-
ity in our classroom and playground. Please remember to
put a change of clothes in your
child's backpack in case of a
spill or accident. Thank you for
entrusting your child to us. We
are excited about this year as
we grow as a class.
KINDERGARTEN
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
WOW!! What an amazing
start to the year! We are all
so thankful for every kiddo
that has walked through our
door! We have been busy
learning all about routines,
rules, and procedures. We
have also been busy learning about our names and
our classmates names. We
have read lots of stories
and we have also explored
different math manipulatives from our math center. September is right
around the corner! We
will focus on apples and
Fall. We will even get to
make applesauce! We are
excited to see what this
year brings!

communities, and are learning
how to work the first grade
way! This group is catching on
quickly and shows great potential for an amazing year!
We look forward to seeing you
all at back to school night on
September 3. At this time you
will learn about 1st grade curriculum, classroom expectations,
and procedures for things such
as: homework, snacks, behavior,
parties and much more! This is a
parents only evening so you can
plan ahead for childcare arrangements. Hope you can make it so
we can work together to make
this the best year possible!
We look forward to an amazing
year! Thank you for sharing your children with us
each day.

2nd Grade
Welcome to Second Grade! We are honored to have your children in our classes!
At the beginning of September we began
all of our regular curriculum, as well as
continuing to reinforce school and classroom procedures. In Language Arts this
month, we will be reading realistic fiction
and non-fiction stories, as well as a play.
We will be using Words Their Way for
Spelling. Each week we will have a different focus point for grammar and comprehension. Writing will be cross-curricular
and embedded in our Centers. For Math
this month, our overall focus will be Num-
bers and Routines. This includes
number sequences, coins, clocks,
and number grids. In Social Studies, we will be learning about Citizenship and Urban vs Rural Communities. Science will be very exciting for us this year, as our district has adopted a brand-new,
hands-on curriculum. We will be
creating a unique science experience that will be shared by all 2nd
graders together in our pod area.
Please make sure to look for our
weekly 2nd grade newsletters that
are sent home at the beginning
of each week, where you will
be able to see detailed focus
areas and skills for each subject area. Thank you for all
your support in your child's
education!
Falcons Fly! Mrs. Hays, Mrs.
Newberry, Ms. Rogers, Ms.
Ulrich, Mrs. Zygmontowicz
McKnight and Ms. Shipman!
Third graders will be working hard during the month
of September! In math we
will focus on number patterns, money, and multiplication facts. For reading and
language arts, we will be
working with biographies
and realistic fiction, and
we will devote much
attention to developing
our skills as writers.
We will also begin our
year long study of Oklahoma history in social
studies.

4th Grade
Hello 4th Grade Parents!
We have had a great beginning of
the school year! We have loved
getting to know your child over
the past few weeks. We are
starting to dig deeper into the
curriculum now that we have our
procedures down. In math, we
are focusing on geometry. In science, we are practicing scientific
processing skills. In social studies,
we are beginning the Native
American unit. Be looking for a
letter from your teacher informing you about the diorama
project that will conclude this
unit. In reading, we are working
on our comprehension skills.
Please remember to be reading
with your child 20 minutes every night.
Thank you so much to all of
those that came to back-toschool night. We look forward
to teaming with you for
the success of your child.
Please keep checking the
4th grade website for
updated information as
the year progresses.

Media
It’s been a great start to a new
school year at Frontier! We
are starting out the year learning procedures for the media
center. We will start checking
out books soon, and we hope
you will find something interesting to read!
We are continuing our Celebration Book Club this year.
This is a way for us to help fill
our library shelves with quality
library-bound books. Families
can donate money, we will buy
a book based on what the donor requests, and when it
comes in, the student will be
the first to check out the book.
Stop by the media center for
more information or email Mrs.
Garrett at jenna.garrett@ed-
mondschools.net
Finally, soon we will have our
Summer Reading Celebration
for those that did the summer reading program. Turn
your papers in to Mrs. Garrett by Friday, Sept 4th, if
you haven’t done so already!

Music
Welcome to another musically awesome year, Frontier Falcons!
It is so great to see old and new faces
this year as we begin Frontier’s third
school year! I continue to be amazed
by how quickly our students learn and
it is such an honor to be the music
teacher to all of our wonderful Falcons.
Just a friendly reminder, we have a new
choir that has started up! The Falcon
Fortes are a group of 4th and 5th grade
students who meet on Mondays from
3:40- 4:40 p.m., in the music room. We
started our first rehearsal on Monday,
August 31st, but if you have a 4th or 5th
grader interested they must join imme-
diately. Make sure all students and
parents look over the stipulations
as students can only miss two rehearsals a semester. We are preparing for performances so attendance is imperative! I know we will
have a very talented chorus this
year!
If you have a second grade Falcon,
then we will be starting to rehearse for their musical, “How
Does Your Garden Groove,” very
shortly! All musical rehearsals take
place during music classes and the
2nd grade performances will be
Thursday, November 19th, 2015.
We will have a school performance at
2:30p.m. and an evening performance at
7:00 p.m. Parents of a second grade
student, please make sure you do not
schedule any doctor’s appointments or
appointments of any kind on the performance date. All student participation
is mandatory.
Again, I am looking forward to teaching
all kindergarten through fifth graders
music this year! Remember, life is one
grand sweet song! Falcons Fly!
Musically,
Mrs. Graham

PARENT PORTAL INFORMATION
This year, a NEW student information system, Infinite Campus, will replace PIV. It will provide parents, guardians and students with realtime access to course schedules, assignments, grades, attendance and report cards for grades 6-12.
If you have established a portal account, go to:
https://edmondschools.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/edmond.jsp
Setting up a Parent Portal account:
To set up a new account, parents/guardians will need to show up in person (with a photo ID) at the Frontier office. Parents/
guardians will then receive an email that will contain a link with instructions on how to set up a new portal account.
Once the account is set up, it will allow parents/guardians to utilize one login to see information on one or multiple children. Also new with this
product is the ability for parents/guardians to update their home phone number and email address as well as add non-household contacts. So it
is very important, once you set up your account, please verify and add to your student’s non-household contacts. This will advise the office on
who may pick up your student.
Mobile
App Set Up
After you have created a parent portal account, you will be able to install the mobile app to get information when you want it, anytime, anywhere from your IOS or Android Device.
Step-parents
Step parents who are not court guardians with documentation on file at the school site, will not be able to access their step children’s information. Accounts can only be set up for natural parents or legal guardians. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes your family and
deeply appreciate your understanding as we strive to protect the privacy of all students.
PTO
PTO would like to welcome everyone back to school, it will be an amazing school year!
We have a few events happening soon.
First, Boosterthon will begin on September 15th and last until September 24th. The Fun Run is
September 24th from 9 - noon. More information will be sent home with your student. Boosterthon
helps to raise money for technology and for playground equipment!
Second is Family Fun Night, which is October 2nd from 6-8 pm. It will be a lot of fun! Students
can pie their teachers, we will also have music, silly string and food trucks!
Our first PTO meeting will be September 9th at 4:00 in the Media Center, we would love to see
you there!
Don’t forget your Spirit Wear t-shirt order form and money is by due Friday, September 4th!
This year we are excited to be partnering with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo!
Schools nationwide are already earning hundreds and even thousands every year through Shoparoo and it’s
a great opportunity for us to really make a difference this year!
Shoparoo is school fundraising made easy: the free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts
into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. No more cutting labels,
selling door to door, or time-consuming coordinating. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap
pictures of your receipts with the app, and voila Just shop, snap, earn!
Get started today:
1. Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
2. Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts - shop anywhere, buy anything!
3. Earn even more Roo Points, or cash donations, by inviting others to join using your personal referral
code
4. You can even select a grade to support and have fun with grade competitions!
There’s no limit to how much money we can raise with Shoparoo - the more supporters, the more we will
raise for our school. Schools with just 40 supporters are earning an average of $1,000 every year. That’s
free, easy money that we could be fundraising too. Check out shoparoo.com to learn more about this
awesome app!
Thank you for your support!
Clinic News
Medication is not allowed on a student’s person. This includes cough drops, aspirin, and other over the counter items that may seem harmless. All medication needs to be kept in the office. You will need a signed
“Authorization for the Administration of Medication” form with the student’s name, medication name, and
dosage/frequency in order for us to dispense any medication to your child. School nurses are on call. We do
not have a nurse on duty. If they are running a fever or throwing up, you must come and get your child.
DONATIONS NEEDED!! If you’re child has grown out of their shorts/pants/under garments and you would like to donate
them to the clinic, we would greatly appreciate it! We are in desperate need of small sizes in both boys and girls.
