From Tragedy to Triumph
L
ocated on historic Ford Island, the Pacific Aviation
Museum—Pearl Harbor occupies WWII-era hangars
that survived the Dec. 7, 1941 attack. Students of all ages
have a front row seat to the Pacific Theater.

This unique and interactive perspective of aviation
history spotlights the achievements of the pilots, crews and
behind-the-scenes heroes that make the history of aviation
come alive.
isit all four Pearl Harbor Historic Sites and travel from
the “Day of Infamy,” to “Peace Restored.”
Visit the USS Arizona Memorial in the early morning
light, tour the USS Bowfin, the “Pearl Harbor Avenger,”
before traveling over to Ford Island for lunch at the Pacific
Aviation Museum and spend the afternoon flying through
history. Finish the day and spend the night where WWII
ended aboard the battleship USS Missouri.
Eat, sleep and live a day in the life of a WWII sailor,
waking up to breakfast in sight of the Arizona Memorial.

The Pacific Aviation Museum’s education programs
are coordinated with the HCPS III Benchmarks in Math,
Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. Comprehensive
activities and supplements are provided to teachers to use
before and after their museum visit.
Group Guided Educational tours, Flight Lab Experience,
Special Scout programs and/or Aviation Activity Programs
available by reservation. Visit our website for additional

isit the site and honor the memory of the heroes that
brought the United States into World War II. Tickets
for the film are free and given out on a first come, first
serve basis. You may talk to a survivor or tour the grounds
and museum while waiting for your program.

ubmerge yourself in the history of submarines! Climb
aboard the USS Bowfin, the “Pearl Harbor Avenger,”
and understand just how confining and demanding life for
the undersea warrior was.
Self-guided tours of the Bowfin and our fully airconditioned submarine museum await you and your
students.
We are open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., except
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Please
allow 90 minutes for your visit.

The Arizona Memorial is operated by the National Park
Service and is opean daily from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.,
except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
For those classrooms or educational groups unable to
visit in person, an Arizona Memorial Museum Association
staff member can come to your venue and present a 30
minute “virtual experience” free of charge.
“Witness to History,” is our free video teleconferencing
program, that connects your classroom to the Arizona
Memorial and an attack survivor.
