Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV (W&Z) wishes to capitalise on this important asset in the best possible way. Our vision is clear: to achieve dynamic management of our waterways and the land that borders them. W&Z promotes the use of these waterways and land in line with the interests of all stakeholders and with an emphasis on sustainable growth, flood protection and integrated water management. W&Z fulfils this vision with a range of activities. W&Z considers its mission to be an important social project and pursues a modern, innovative and future-oriented policy aimed at a Flanders that is prosperous, mobile, safe and green. W&Z translates its mission into three key interrelated tasks: 1.Promotion of water transport Inland navigation and short sea ship ping are firstly sources of prosperity. They also offer a remedy for the adverse effects of the constantly increasing transport traffic on our roads. For these reasons, W&Z is making every possible effort to encourage transport by water.
