If you think Louisville is a sleepy little town, you’re
in for a surprise. Louisville has steadily gained
recognition over the last few years as having one
of the country’s most exciting and innovative
restaurant scenes.
The travel media consistently names Louisville as
one of the country’s top dining cities. Bon Appetit
magazine named it as an “America’s Foodiest
Towns” finalist, and several of its restaurants have
won numerous awards of their own.

Even without an ocean view, Louisville has no problem serving up fresh
seafood thanks to having the largest UPS hub in North America, which
allows area restaurants to get overnight shipments and serve “fresh from
the net” seafood.

These establishments vary from historic hotel
properties that once served Kentucky Whiskey
to the likes of Al Capone and F. Scott Fitzgerald to cosmopolitan
“scenes” where urban trend-setters are making retro drinks such as the
Old-Fashioned and Manhattan in vogue again. There are 14 in total,
but only these eight offer delicious bourbon-inspired dining.
