Career and Technical Education Student of the Year
Congratulations to Sabrina Pohlig! She has been a very involved CTE student since her
freshmen year. She has completed several years of both the
Digital Design and the E-Business Entrepreneur program. For
the last two years, she has been an integral part of running and
improving the school store. She has trained other students in
designing, marketing, and distributing ‘Cobra Gear’.
January 20, 2016, Sabrina was recognized at the Palm
Beach County School District Meeting and given a plaque of
recognition. She also an outstanding athlete and on National
Recruiting day in February, she signed a letter of intent to
play lacrosse at Albertus Magnus College. We are proud of
you Sabrina!

CTE Students Participated at the First Annual Career
Fair and Job Shadowing
Several seniors in Academy classes were selected to go to the WPB Convention center to
meet with professionals in many industry clusters. The event was sponsored by the School
District and the Workforce Development Board. The students learned about what it takes to
get into fields such as Legal, Banking, Insurance, Aeronautical, Medical, and many others.
The workshops also focused on ‘soft skills’ which are so important in every profession.
Seniors in the Academies also had opportunity to participate in Annual Job Shadowing
Day. Students got a day away from campus to spend it with business professionals. We’ve
had students go to Sikorsky Aircraft, Modernize Medicine, and other places to experience
job shadowing and discover what it’s really like in ‘the real world’.

From The Desk Of Your Health Care
District School Nurse
Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. It is
important to take care of it right from the start. The American Dental
Association (ADA) recommends that children visit the dentist within six
months of their first tooth and before their first birthday for a “Well Baby
Check Up.” February is Dental Health Month.
Recommendations for good dental health include:
• Brushing your teeth for two minutes, twice a day with fluoride
toothpaste
• Flossing daily
• Avoiding sugary and starchy snacks
• Wearing a mouth guard when you’re active
• Not smoking
• Not piercing your lips or any part of your mouth
• Getting dental sealants
• Considering a fluoride program if your water is not fluoridated
• Visiting your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleaning
Children with good oral health have better attendance and fewer

Khan Academy
The College Board and the nonprofit
Khan Academy® have teamed up to
provide free, personalized SAT study
resources for all students. Starting
with the 2015-16 school year,
students who take the SAT, PSAT/
NMSQT, PSAT 10, or PSAT 8/9 have
access to personalized SAT study
resources. Khan Academy’s worldclass practice tools are free for all
students and include:
• Thousands of practice
questions, reviewed and
approved by the College Board
• Four official SAT Practice Tests
written by the College Board
• Personalized recommendations
for instruction and practice to
help students fill their knowledge
gaps

Financial Aid Applications
Bright Future Scholarship
Application
Attention seniors! If you have not yet
done so, please complete the Bright
Future Scholarship Application ASAP at
www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org.
File federal financial aid forms to determine eligibility for scholarships and
other college money as soon as possible. The 2015 forms are available
online from the Department of Education at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Data
compiled by Edvisors, a financial aid resource site, supports why this is
important. The FAFSA is the U.S. Department of Education document that
most public and private colleges and universities require to determine the
amount of financial aid students are eligible to receive from federal, state
and college sources. Edvisors found that students who filed the FASFA
during the 1st three months of the year on average receive more than twice
as much grant funding from federal, state and college sources, than those
who file the forms later in the year. Grants, which are based largely on
financial need, are most valuable because they don’t require repayment.
The average payout amounted to $6,730 in grants for early filers versus an
average of $3,318 for those who received grants from April on. To read the

Congratulations Girl’s Soccer!
CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS! DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! REGIONAL FINALISTS!
Congratulations to our Girl’s Soccer Team for a dynamic
season. They finished the regular season with a record
breaking 15 wins and 1 loss. In the District Tournament,
they won both the quarterfinal and semifinals games with
scores of 8-0. For the District Championship, they faced
Wellington, who was the state runner up last season. I’m
sure many of you have heard the expression “leave it all
on the field.” Well, we witnessed it first-hand in this game!
Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie. They played a 10 minute
overtime, which also ended in a tie. They played a second
10 minute overtime which again ended in a tie! Then they
went to the first round of penalty kicks and believe it or
not – it ended in a tie! The second round of penalty kicks The story continued as we next faced Boca in the Regional

News from ESE Cobra
Card Company
Students in the ESE Department have been busy making
and selling greeting cards. We have a variety of seasonal
and holiday cards, as well as birthday, get well, thank
you cards and more. We can also design a card based
on your needs. Your family and friends will love the cards
and our students appreciate your support. Students
and staff can find for us in the cafeteria or teacher’s

Rummage Sale The Key Club is sponsoring a Rummage Sale to be held
inside the Park Vista cafeteria on Saturday April 2nd.
Vendor applications are now available in the main office.
The cost to rent a table is $20 and you will keep all the
proceeds from your table sales. Vendor spots tend to fill
up quickly so purchase your table soon.
