PSAT Score Report
•  Most important are Scaled Scores (320-1520 total)
•  Next, check percentile (50th is average)
PSAT Score Report
•  Test Scores are not very insightful
•  Cross-Test Scores – based mostly on ‘Analysis’ type
questions throughout the sections. This can help you
determine if quantitative and data analysis is an area of
weakness.
PSAT Score Report
•  Subscores help to analyze performance within particular
reporting categories
•  Helps to highlight specific areas of weakness
•  Tailor your focus when preparing to maximize score gains
PSAT Score Report
•  National Merit is only for 95%+ scoring students
•  Next Steps are very general and automatically generated
based on your scoring range. Test scores (8-38) in the
middle of the page are also not very helpful.
PSAT Score Report
•  Question-level feedback allows for detailed analysis
•  Compare to Subscores to further highlight areas of
weakness
•  Review level of difficulty
Translating PSAT Scores to SAT
•  First year of data so subject to change
•  Easier scoring scale on PSAT because SAT is longer and slightly
harder. Scores are designed to represent current SAT
performance.
Historical SAT Percentile Ranges
•  25%: 420 – 430
•  50%: 480 – 510
•  75%: 580 – 600
•  90%: 650 – 680
