Overview & Notice to User:
EnviroTankers Mobile Intermediate Bulk Container (Mobile IBC) is a United Nations/Transport Canada certified
aluminum tank for the purpose of transporting flammable liquids.
It is designed, built and certified under the following UN accepted Canadian General Standards Board code:
CAN/CGSB-43.146-2002
This Mobile IBC is certified to carry Flammable and Combustible liquids in Class 3 Packing Group II and III
such as aviation gas (AVGAS) and Jet Fuel, which can legally be transported over the road per Dangerous
Goods Regulations Part 5 (5.6 and 5.14).
Prior to Certification, it was rigorously tested by a non-related testing facility called Westest in Portage la Prairie
Manitoba. The test tanks underwent extreme pressure testing to 200 kPa (29 PSI), loaded roll-over and loaded
drop tests as well as extreme vibration and stacking tests while loaded.
Certification: 1000L (264 US Gal) FlyTank
This Intermediate Bulk Container bears the following certification data plate and markings:
Certification:

Design And Use:
This tank is a Double Walled Aluminum Mobile IBC container system. It is constructed of 5052 H32 tanker
grade aluminum, which is also approved for transporting and storing aviation related flammable and
combustible Class 3 products in Packing Group II and III per CSA B836 Storage Handling and Dispensing
Aviation Fuels at Aerodromes standards.
The tanks have a safety pressure and vacuum release mechanism incorporated into the tank main filler cap.
The filler caps must not be tampered with nor modified in any way or warranty will be void
***To OPEN the filler cap, you must push down in the center of the cap (to relieve inner tank pressure)
prior to releasing the locking latch***
The Girard main filler cap is designed to release internal pressure at: 35 kPa / 5 PSI.
The Girard main filler cap is designed to vacuum at 6.9 kPa (-1 PSI) to allow suction during the use of the main
delivery pump See page 11-12 for details on this main filler cap.
The hinged customer lid allows users to easily access the main filler cap, aviation approved Fuel Forwarding
Equipment (Pump/Filter/Nozzle) equipment and other ports such as the Fuel Gauge and Low Point
Water/Sample Drain. The customer lid is secured by a single latch near the front lifting handle.
These tanks are certified to be stacked two high with or with product. However, user is always responsible for
securing loads. See Below.
Stack Two High Maximum
P/N IBC-FT1000 – Version 1 9
The main outer lid is also easily removable for maintenance, cleaning and inspection.
The main outer lid is secured with latches located beside the lip and have safety pins to prevent inadvertent
openings.
****These mobile tanks may be transported with or without product in a vehicle or on a trailer. However, It is the
customers’ responsibility to ensure that they are properly secured and or mounted to meet local and federal
transport regulation. It is also the customers’ responsibility to ensure the vehicle or trailer Maximum Gross
Vehicle Weight (MGVW) is not exceed.****
****CAN/CGSB-43.146-2002 prohibits lifting Mobile IBC’s loaded with product. Please contact EnviroTankers
for information on obtaining a special Transportation of Dangerous Goods Equivalent Level of Safety permit for
operations under Part 12 (Air) of the TDG Regulations if you wish to lift this Mobile IBC with product.****
****Customers must ensure that the proper UN Dangerous Goods Placards are installed and visible on all four
sides of the Mobile IBC / Vehicle / Trailer while any product is contained.
****While the Mobile IBC is of double walled construction, it is the customers’ responsibility to adhere to all local
and federal environmental regulations.****
Maintenance:
CAN/CGSB-43.146 requires that any Mobile IBC over 450 Liters being used to transport flammable liquids
require a periodic leak test.
The leak test shall be performed by certified test facilities that hold a Certificate of Recognition. A list of
Certified test facilities in your area can be obtained from EnviroTankers.
The test shall be performed no more than 60 months from date of manufacture or from date of previous leak
test and inspection. Then, every 60 months or less thereafter.
Leak Test And Inspection Procedures:
The inside of the main inner product tank can be accessed for inspection and maintenance by removing the
Betts 16 inch round “Manhole” lid. In order to prevent leaks, it is recommended that only certified testing
facilities remove and replace this cover. See page 13-14 for details on this lid.
Leak tests shall be conducted on each inner container by applying compressed air at a gauge pressure of not
less than 20 kPa (3 PSI) NOT to exceed 30 kPA (5 PSI) and held for at least ten minutes.
Vented ports or caps or closures shall be disabled or replaced with non-venting closures. A leak detection
method such as soapy water (snoop method) shall be used on all welds, seams, fittings and ports. No
structural damage is allowed to occur during the pressure test. No leaks are permitted. If a leak does occur, it
must be repaired using proper standard welding practices or the closure must be repaired or replaced.
If the tank cannot be repaired it must be removed from Dangerous Goods service, The Certification Data
Placard must then be removed and the tank permanently marked with “NOT FOR USE WITH DANGEROUS
GOODS”.
P/N IBC-FT1000 – Version 1 10
Upon successful test and inspection, the Inspection Data Plate shall be permanently marked with the Month /
Year and Transport Canada Registration number of the test facility.
Records of the inspections must be kept by both the tank owner and the test facility for 60 Months or until the
next test is completed successfully. The record shall include the type of IBC, the owners name and address,
test date, serial number, test facility name and address and the Transport Canada Certificate of Registration
number.
