This is an important event in that it's a double judged show! Two rail judges and two Ranch riding/Trail judges which means the opportunity to receive two sets of points in one show. Many of our year end High point awards and Championships are still undecided, which means this is a "can't miss show". It's also a great opportunity for exhibitors to start getting ready for the 2017 show season. Best of luck and see you October 2nd! T r o t o ver p o les 136 © 2016 AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE Dear Southern California ETI members: Your Board of Directors is seeking volunteers to run the ETI National Horse Show Circuit (NHSC), aka the ETI High Point Program for the 2017 show year. The High Point Program has been an ongoing feature of ETI National for many years, managed by a committee of ETI members under the direction of the Board. ETI members can earn points for year-end awards at horse shows by paying a fee to the program, and then competing at individual corral shows in NHSC recognized classes. Western, English flat, Hunters, Jumpers, Ranch Horse, Trail, Leadline, and In-Hand classes are all part of the program. The term of the current 7 member High Point Committee will end in early 2017 after it presents the year end banquet where the 2016 competitors receive their awards. Please consider volunteering to chair and/or serve on the high point committee for the 2017 horse show circuit year. Experience in running shows is helpful but not necessary; the committee serves more as a program coordinator than a show presenter. We will walk you through the process. The work is manageable if shared among the committee members. The High Point Program doesn’t run itself; it can continue to operate only if there are dedicated volunteers who step up to serve on the committee and do the necessary work to keep it going. Do not wait to volunteer. Much of the planning must occur before the start of the show season, to select the classes, obtain commitments from corrals to present shows, and advertise the program and its shows to potential competitors. Participating in and managing the program is very rewarding and interesting, and you will meet, appreciate and become friends with many other ETI members. Contact me for more information or to put your name in for consideration.-- Susan Pfann, High Point Committee Chair, 20152016 etihighpoint2015@gmail.com 626-221-0829 ETI Corral 20 TRAIL TRIALS & Poker Ride Saturday, October 15th, 2016 Halloween Costume Contest $5.00 Winners 50/50 RA NGER PA RK Lak e V i ew Ter r ace Prizes 1st-3rd OPEN, NOVICE, & JUNIOR Divisions Entry booth opens 8am *First rider out at 9am * Last rider out 11am $30.00 ETI Members * $35.00 Non-ETI Members please add $5.00 additional drug fee Poker hand $5.00 * Lunch available for purchase Stallions must be pre-approved, and riders must be over 18. GENERAL A. SVAC (Simi Valley Awards Circuit) follows ETI (Equestrian Trails, Inc.), USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) and AQHA guidelines. In the event of a rule conflict, SVAC rules prevail. B. All California drug laws apply. C. The decision of the judge is final. Exhibitors are prohibited from approaching the judge in the event of a protest. All protests must be made in writing and accompanied by $50.00 to the horse show committee within 24 hours of event. To lodge a complaint, exhibitor must send a concise report of the offense via e-mail to: Terry Simon [horseladyusa1@yahoo.com]. Exhibitor must provide proof of horse/exhibitor eligibility in the event of a protest. If an exhibitor is disqualified as a result of the protest, his or her points for the disputed class/event will be withdrawn. Points will be adjusted accordingly. D. A "Liability Waiver and Release" form must be signed at each event by every exhibitor and person handling horses. (This includes trainers, grooms, volunteers, etc.) A parent or legal guardian/representative must sign the waiver and release for exhibitors under 18 years of age. E. If any person is unable to handle a horse safely and responsibly, they will be excused from the show grounds for safety's sake. If any person is unable to control a horse in a class, arena or other area which creates a dangerous condition for self or others, the person will be asked to leave the arena or area. This authority vests with any officer of E.T.I. Corral 118, i.e., president, vice-president, secretary, etc. F. In the interest of safety, NO child, except an EXHIBITOR, may be inside any arena at any time. NO EXCEPTIONS! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times on the show grounds. Children may not play within six (6) feet of any arena rail, including the bleachers. Show management has the authority to enforce any and all safety rules. Failure to follow these safety rules may result in expulsion from the event and show grounds. G. ASTM/SEI safety-approved helmets must be worn by English exhibitors under the age of 18. Western riders under the age of 18 are strongly encouraged to wear riding helmets at all times when mounted, i.e., on the grounds or warm-up arenas H. All dogs must be on a leash and may not be within two feet of the arenas' rails for safety's sake. Dogs barking or causing a commotion close to the arenas will be requested to be moved away from the arena rails and office area. I. No alcoholic beverages are permitted on the show grounds. J. NO vehicles except trucks attached to trailers may park in the trailer parking area. There is a 15minute maximum "drop off" period allowed for vehicles to park in the trailer area to facilitate exhibitors dropping off personal items and tack. Vehicles not attached to trailers must park in the small lot or over-flow parking area. II. CLASS ENTRY FEES AND REQUIREMENTS A. If you pre-enter by the stated deadline, you will receive the pre-entry fee rate. If you add classes post entry rates will apply. All other fees remain as stated on the entry form. B. No refunds without reasonable proof stating reason from vet or medical doctor. Refunds will be mailed within 14 days of proof. C. If your check is returned as non-negotiable by our bank, you will be charged $25 and lose all points from the event that the check paid for. Points will not be reinstated. All future fees and costs must be made in cash. D. Class entries will be closed five minutes prior to the class. Scratched classes will be refunded one-half of the entry fee and must be made within two classes of the scratched class's commencement. NO EXCEPTIONS! E. Proper attire is required in all classes unless otherwise stated, i.e., no chaps or hunt coats in the event of extreme heat. Determination made by judge and/or show management. F. SVAC reserves the right to combine classes with fewer than three entries. Classes may be canceled at SVAC's discretion for lack of exhibitors. SVAC reserves the right to hold classes out of numerical order during the course of the show, i.e., classes canceled or combined will change the order. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to know when and where the classes are run. G. If there is only one exhibitor in the class, whether the class is combined with another class or the class is run with one exhibitor, the solo exhibitor will receive 5 points, a ribbon and prize. The points, ribbon and prize will not be awarded for schooling. If the exhibitor chooses not to show in the class, a refund will be issued at the post entry scratch rate. H. Schooling is permitted as long as the horse and rider are eligible for the class entered. Entrants must wear proper attire, wear exhibitor number upside down and ride non-disruptively. Humane equipment only may be used. Points are not awarded for schooling. I. Horse must show under the same name all year. J. You must notify the show office of a tack change at least one class prior to the needed change. Tack changes should occur close to the "in-gate" without causing disruption or blocking the gate. 2 III. HORSE AND EXHIBITOR A. In the event of death or loss of use of the horse for the remainder of the show year, exhibitor must present reasonable proof to the horse show committee in order to be allowed to substitute another horse for the show year. In the event the original horse may be shown at the next SVAC horse show, it may replace the substituted horse. This may only occur once, i.e., no switching horses back and forth. Only one substitution per exhibitor - no exceptions. B. Stallion handlers/riders must be 18 years or older. C. Mules and ponies may enter all "horse" classes with the same general restrictions to be applied. D. Exhibitor's age as of January 1st of current yearis the current year show age. Horse's age as of January 1st of current year is the current year show age. E. "ATS" and "ATR." An "amateur rider" is an exhibitor, unlike a "professional," who does not accept payment for any of the following: riding, training, showing in halter, schooling, conducting clinics, seminars or instruction. SVAC endorses USEF and ETI rules regarding amateur riders. F. "19 & Over ATR/ATS" (amateur to ride) are riders 19 years or older who do not receive payment as outlined in Rule E. G. "Lead Line" is open to children 9 years of age and younger who exhibit in either or both English and Western. Riders may not have shown in any performance class other than Lead Line prior to December 1st of the previous year. Lead shanks must be attached to a halter under the bridle. Lead Line Equitation will be held after the last halter class – see premium. H. "Showmanship" is judged on the handler. I. Trail classes are held simultaneously with rail classes after Halter and Showmanship. Exhibitors are to complete their trail classes in a timely fashion to facilitate computation of day-end awards. Lead Line trail riders are allowed to go ahead of those in line for trail classes. No refunds will be given for missed trail or warm-up trail classes. Trail classes will be closed at 2 p.m. J. "Warm up Trail" class allows the exhibitor ONE pattern to practice prior to showing in any trail class. The class is not judged. K. Western "walk/jog" (W/T), English "walk/trot" (W/T) and Trail “walk/trot” (W/T) classes are open to any exhibitor who does not show in the lope or canter in any discipline at any show during the current show year. Exhibitors showing in any flat Walk-Trot class (including Trail) may only show in Walk-Trot classes, Halter, Showmanship in Hand and Country Pleasure (Walk-Trot exhibitors may not lope/canter in the Country Pleasure classes). Horse/rider combination must maintain the same “walk/jog” or “walk/trot” status all year in that specific W/T division. 3 L. "Warm up Pleasure" class allows the exhibitor to warm up in the show arena without being judged. IV. POINTS AND AWARDS A. All Day-End points are calculated on a one-horse/one-rider combination. Exhibitor need not be a member of Corral 118 to qualify for Day-End awards. Exhibitor must show in at least 4 classes listed in the "End of Day High Point Awards" categories. Day-End points are calculated on placing in class as follows: 1st place=5 points; 2nd place=4 points; 3rd place=3 points; 4th place=2 points; 5th place=1 point. Ties for championship will be broken by number of 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd place ribbons. Further ties will be broken by a coin toss. Winner of the coin toss chooses either the Championship ribbon OR the Day-End award. The other tie winner receives the ribbon or the award not chosen by the coin toss. Reserve champion goes to the exhibitor who has the second highest number of Day-End points. Exhibitors not placing in a SVAC class will receive 1/2 point for participating in the class for Day-End awards. B. All "SVAC Year-End" points are calculated on a one-horse/one-rider combination. Exhibitor must be a current member of Corral 118. Points are based on placement. Example, in a class of 5 or more exhibitors, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th would equate to points 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, respectively. In a class of 3 entrants, placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the points would be 5, 4 and 3 respectively. Exhibitors not placing in a SVAC class will receive 1/2 point for participating in the class for Year-End awards. C. To qualify for "SVAC Year-End" division awards, the exhibitor (one-horse/one-rider combination) must compete in 4 of the 5 shows for that season and must compete in 4 of the 5 classes of that division. SVAC Year-End awards are given to all age breaks and open divisions. Highest number of accumulated division points wins. Placings to third. D. To qualify for "SVAC Year-End" class awards, the exhibitor (one-horse/one-rider combination) must compete in the same class in 4 of the 5 shows for that season. Highest number of accumulated class points wins. Placings to third. E."SVAC Year-End High Point" overall award. Points are calculated on a one-horse/one-rider combination. Exhibitor must be a current member of Corral 118. This top award will be presented to the one horse/rider who has earned the most points in a SVAC show season. The show season consist of five shows beginning in April and ending in October. To qualify for "SVAC Year-End High Point" award, the exhibitor must compete in the same class in 4 of the 5 shows for that season. All classes are eligible with the exception of the green class. All eligible classes must meet the 4 of the 5 requirement. Points are calculated on placing in class as follows: 1st place=5 points; 2nd place=4 points; 3rd place=3 points; 4th place=2 points; 5th place=1 point. Exhibitors not placing in a SVAC class will receive 1/2 point for participating in the class. Highest number of accumulated class points during the show season wins the SVAC Year-End High Point award. 4 F. Only Corral 118 members and associate members may compete and be awarded SVAC Year-End High Point Award, SVAC Year-End division and individual class awards. Points accrue from the membership date. Points are retroactive one month prior to membership if an exhibitor joins by the second show of any given show season. G. Ties for Year-End awards will be handled as follows: the horse/exhibitor with the most 1st place awards will move ahead in the standings (then calculated by the most seconds, thirds, etc.) until the tie is broken. H. Each exhibitor is responsible for keeping track of their points. Any questions or discrepancy must be addressed to the "Pointskeeper" and made within 30 days of the show date where the discrepancy appeared or the date of points publication. Points are posted on the Corral 118 web site shortly after the conclusion of each show. The web site is: www.eti118.org. After 30 days following publication, the points will stand as published. 5 2016 ADVERTISEMENT &SPONSORSHIP FORM E.T.I.
