The secure and flexible access control system
Bewator Entro - the secure and flexible access control system
Bewator Entro is a modern access control system developed with the focus on the user.
The first system was launched in 1997 and is today one of the most popular access control systems on the market.
An access control system is a sophisticated yet convenient
way to protect premises or buildings by restricting access to
non-authorised persons without the need for a key.
The user-friendly access control system
Bewator Entro is a PC-based access control system managed in a user-friendly Windows environment. By avoiding
the insecurity of keys which often get misplaced, Bewator
Entro instead enables authorised individuals to use a card
or a token to gain access into protected areas. Should a tag
or card be lost, it can easily and quickly be disabled by the
system, ensuring a high security level. In addition, Bewator Entro can also be used in conjunction with an intruder
alarm system, thus simplifying and streamlining ‘keyholder’ arming and disarming procedures.
The software also comes complete with different user levels allowing for example a receptionist only to activate new
cards, whereas an administrator would have permissions
allowing global system changes..
The installer’s choice
Bewator Entro has also been created with a focus on ease of
installation. Its Segment Controllers, Door Controllers and
Readers are easy to install and to run, allowing lower installation costs. Entro supports various ways in which the software can communicate with its system controllers, and can
even utilise an existing local area network without interfacing equipment. This makes the system more
flexible and facilitates installation.
Bewator Entro – a long-term investment
Bewator Entro is an investment for the future: a strong focus
on the development of all the components of the system ensure that performance and user friendliness are constantly
enhanced. All versions of the Entro system are backwardcompatible, leaving room for future systems expansion or
upgrades. Entro is therefore a cost
effective solution in the long run
with a large range of applications allowing users to gradually build up from a single door
lock to a system of up to 512
doors and 20 000 cards.
An extensive base of installed systems
Bewator Entro was an immediate success when it was
launched in 1997 and is today still one of the most popular
access control systems on the market. A total of more than
5 000 systems have been delivered, which together secure
more than 50 000 doors in the world. Bewator Entro’s performance and functionality have continuously progressed
to meet the market’s needs.

Bewator Entro - a system for all companies
Bewator Entro was developed for companies and organisations requiring a high level security, yet
easy-to-manage and user-friendly solution. The award winning access control system is suitable for
commercial and industrial premises, institutions such as hospitals, or indeed any establishment requiring an effective access control system.
For residential property
Bewator Entro is the choice
for real estate companies
who wish to improve security for the residents, whilst
improving the service level,
e.g. by facilitating access
for the postman, or allowing laundry room reservation through the internet
for student residences.
Bewator Entro is flexible enough to be used to secure all
doors in a residence, and can easily be administrated, for
example by the concierge or the building manager. Bewator also offers a large range of entry phone systems and
can therefore offer fully adapted solutions for residential
properties.
For manufacturing sites
Bewator Entro is an effective solution for all types of
manufacturing premises,
combining security functions like anti-pass back
with attendance monitoring functionalities. This ensures manufacturing managers know who should
be there, and who not. The system also supports a large
range of readers, and can therefore be used to secure the
whole premises, e.g. with hands-free readers for inside
doors, card and PIN readers for external doors, and
long-range readers for gates and stockroom
doors. The system even offers Automatic
Vehicle Identification (AVI) for gates and
barriers.The system’s intelligent alarm
functions also enable Entro 5 to control
and respond to external alarm systems,
providing an all-round security system.
Version 5 - 2005
For offices
Securing an office environment without impairing
the movement of people is
a challenge which Entro 5
tackles head on. The system allows for people to
be categorised following
the level of access needed,
e.g. employees, clients,
temporary staff, etc. These groups each require different
access rights and time limitations to various areas in the
office environment or alternatively they may require periods of open access, all are possible in Bewator Entro. As
a modern access control system Bewator Entro offers complete access protection for all office doors and even the
possibility to control an external alarm system that can be
switched on and off with a Reader. The system offers you
a complete range of reports, so it any time an administrator can check who is in the premises or who has entered a
particular room or area.
For leisure facilities
Bewator Entro also provides a cost-effective solution for leisure facilities
who wish to manage their
facilities with a minimal
number of personnel: its
booking functionality enables users to book facilities
like solariums or squash
courts directly over the internet. Entro 5 can also be interfaced with other systems like members’ registers, via
Bewator’s open interface BAPSI. Bewator Entro’s log system also allows a greater control over the use of facilities,
reducing the risk of wrongful access to training premises
or abuse of allocated times.
New smart design of segment controllers and door controllers,
in-built 2-port switch in segment controller SR34i, support of
DHCP and DNS, 100 Mbit TCP/IP communication, multiple user
databases for up to 16 administrators, improved event buffer,
possibility to connect a Wiegand Reader, automatic event
backup, improved database capacity, along with many other
exciting functions.

Bewator Entro – reliability and advanced technology
Bewator Entro 5 is the result of almost 10 years of development and technological advances by Bewator. The fundamental idea behind the version 5 is the same as when the first version was launched
in 1997, whilst continuous development to the hardware and software put the new version ahead of
the game.
The new segment controller (SR34i) is Entro 5’s
heart: it holds the system’s processor and stores
the whole database. Consequently, the system
can operate without being connected to a PC, making it less vulnerable and simplifying servicing
and extensions of the system.
The SR34i’s integrated display and
keyboard also make it possible to
view the system status and access the
configuration menus, again simplifying the day-to-day running of the system and its servicing procedures.
The built-in 2-port switch simplifies the
network installation and makes it possible to create a dedicated local network
for Bewator Entro, reducing the risk of
tampering by unauthorised personnel.
SR34i has also an integrated web server
and a flash memory port, which can be
used to store web portals giving access
to the online booking facility.
The DC12 door controller can control one door, be it
one Reader in, or two in and out Readers for systems
requiring anti-pass back. Besides Bewator’s own
card readers – using Cotag’s reading technologyDC12 supports any third party’s card reader through
a standard interface for both Wiegand and Clock &
Data reading technologies.
The more advanced version of the door controller (DC22) also enables
the control of an external alarm system with Alarm Status Feedback
(ASF). The DC22 also uses two electrical locks (Night & Day locks).
Moreover, the DC22 has two relay outputs for door warning, pre-warning alarms and alerts.
Both DC12 and DC22 door controllers were designed to be easy to
install and maintain. Both have an integrated status display, which
simplifies maintenance and fault finding. All segment and door controllers are also of course equipped with a tamper switch.

Card readers and accessories for all needs and environments
Bewator offers the broadest range of card readers, keypads, and cards on the market with the ability to
satisfy most needs and environments. They are robust and resistant and are suitable for all environments, either through flush or single-surface mounting.
Keypads, when a code is enough to secure access.
Magnetic stripe card readers are a widely used and tested solution.
Simply swipe the card through the slot in the reader to gain access. Models are available with or without a keypad.
Proximity readers can read cards from 5 to 30cm. Several models are available, for in- or outdoor use, and with or without a keypad. The “close”
proximity reader is the most common choice, with benefits such as simplicity, lower risk of manual interference and less wear-and-tear on the
cards when compared to magnetic stripe cards readers.
Hands-free readers, when used in conjunction with Bewator’s Cotag®
Active technology can read cards from a distance of up to 1 metre, even
if the card happens to be in your pocket or bag. The reader can also be
installed inside a wall or behind a glass partition, making it highly resistant to interference or vandalism. Cotag is a self-developed reading
technology with high security levels. Only cards and tags manufactured
by Bewator can be used with it. Hands-free is the ideal solution for hospitals, warehouses or clean rooms, where the personnel is often busy
carrying or pushing something.
HD500 – Proximity reader.
Vandal proof design, impact and fire
resistant. Up to 30 cm read range.
BC43 – Card and PIN reader.

Lift and machine control
With its central relay (IOR6) and its 6
programmable outputs, Bewator Entro can control which floors visitors
can access via a lift or determine
which machines or equipment can
be used (e.g. a UV machine in a solarium room whose access
is controlled via Entro booking functionality). The central relay
can also be used for many other functions such as the monitoring outputs for alarm events within the system or the emergency unlocking of all doors following a fire alarm.

Reservation through reservation
terminal or internet
Bewator Entro has a built-in reservation function, which facilitates the
booking management of facilities
like sports clubs, meeting rooms,
etc. Reservations can be made either through the InfoPoint
reservation terminal or over the internet. More information on
the reservation functions can be found in the brochure “Bewator Entro – For reserving access to premises”.
Simple and geographically independent administration
Bewator Entro’s software is installed
locally on a normal PC. It can be
connected directly to the system or
through the local network, internet
or modem, which means that it is possible to administrate
the system from anywhere in the country. When the system is
in operation, the PC only needs to be connected to the system
in order to add, delete or amend records, run reports or view
log files. This is because the segment controller SR34i is the
heart of the system and stores all the information.

The central units of Bewator Entro
can communicate in a number of
ways, including via the most commonly used RS485. The system can
also use an existing data network (TCP/IP), reducing cabling
and installation costs, and telephone modems or radio-LAN.
Different communication modes can also be combined within
or between several Bewator Entro systems. For maximum security, transmissions between the system software and the
controllers are encrypted (128 bits), regardless of chosen wiring protocol.

Bewator Entro has unique alarm bypass and control functions. Alarm
zones can be set up with the Entro
software, enabling all readers connected to the system to recognise if
the alarm has been turned on or off. This makes it possible
to turn on the alarm on one door and to turn it off on another door. Bewator Entro also has an intelligent Alarm Status
Feedback (ASF) which feeds information back on the alarm
system, and can also transmit information to readers as to
whether the alarm is on or off (this can be indicated with a red
light on the readers).
Roll call and anti-passback
Roll call and anti-passback are
functions that are used to control
who is present in a determined
area. This provides an overview of
who is on the premises and their
last known location, extremely useful for roll call and disaster management.
