The SPA was founded in 1974 and is a members’ run organisation aiming to promote all aspects of ceramics (hand made pottery and ceramic sculpture) and is open to anyone with an interest in the subject. Linking Scotland’s geographically remote potters it offers an informal source of information and advice on everything connected to clay. It aims to raise the standards and awareness of the craft whenever possible. This map was compiled by asking all the members in early 2014 that have a workshop or shop open to the public in Scotland to give us their opening details. Please be aware that many potters work on their own and sometimes have to close their workshop at short notice, so it is always advisable to call ahead and check opening times. The SPA members enjoy a varied programme of activities including a residential weekend of demonstrations, workshops, newsletters and e-bulletins. The SPA’s website www.scottishpotters.org is the place for more information about the SPA and how to join. Fiona Duckett contact details number 49 on the map will happily answer any queries.
