Monday Mosaic Tile Zellige is terra cotta tilework covered with enamel in the form of chips set into plaster. It is one of the main characteristics of Moroccan architecture. Patrons of the art used zellige historically to decorate their homes as a statement of luxury and the sophistication of the inhabitants. Global Arts Camp Session 3: Morocco Week Nine: 8/24 – 8/28 Friday Hass Smoothies Chefchaouen Morocco Chefchaouen or Chaouen, as it is often called by Moroccans, is a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to Tangier and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The name refers to the shape of the mountain tops above the town that look like the two horns (chaoua) of a goat. "Chef Chaouen" derives from the Berber word for horns, Ichawen. One distinction possessed by Chefchaouen is its blue-rinsed houses and buildings. Please pack them as light as possible.
