Progress (1)
•  On 18th of December 2012 the City council of
Maastricht approved the tram project
(‘projectbesluit’), including:
–  track design (existing cargo track and city track)
–  Index linked budget (VAT, 66 mio. in Euros of 2012)
–  Cost estimation
–  Cost benefit analysis
–  Risk including risk management
–  Mandate to sign Long term agreement with De Lijn

Progress (2)
•  Detailed track design (January – June
2013):
–  With extra focus some hot spots (esthetical aspects,
traffic safety (bicyclist), combining tramway on the bus
station, tram stop Belvédère.
–  Traffic management and phasing during construction
within city centre.
Progress (3)
•  Safety Case (January – Ongoing)
–  Changes in Dutch legislation and regulation introduced
uncertainty about the admittance of tram-trains on
mainline cargo track.
–  Possible fall-back: change of status from mainline to
regional line. This transition eliminates many
restrictions but has possibly impact on the project
planning

•  Tendering fase (January – Ongoing):
–  Tendering strategy > DB&M(?)
–  Tender external engineers (selection this summer) >
tender specification
–  Contractor (2nd half of 2014)
•  Zoning plan (January – December):
–  Environmental impact study (MER).
