General Description The “Boss Beaver” has many upgraded and current production features that vastly improve its performance, speed and reliability over a Factory MK III Turbo Beaver. The gross weight has been increased to a massive 6100 LB, this exceeds even the expensive high gross kit on the MK III which has only a 6000 LB Gross Weight. Due to the large tail and longer cabin of the MK III it is considerably heavier than a comparably equipped Boss Beaver. The “Boss” sports a 650HP PT6A-‐28 engine with a 102 Inch 3-‐Blade Paddle Prop and a “Paint Pealing” 203 MPH cruise speed at 10,000 Ft. At this altitude the range is 767 Statute Miles. The fuel has been moved from the belly and is now all stored in the redesigned and reinforced wings, 205 US Gallons useable fuel, which is a vast Improvement over the MK III even with Tip-‐Tanks, installed. The wings have thicker skins, a reinforced spar, 4 fuel caps and flow generators to improve aileron authority at low speeds. Gone is the failure prone mechanical fuel pumps still used on the MK III, the “Boss” utilizes current production motive flow pumps. The fuel levers are very simple “Caravan” style “On & Off” compared to the confusing cluster of Fuel Valves on the MK III. Additionally, the“Boss” has a conventional master Caution/Warning panel which allows the pilot to conduct a much more intuitive scan. If you are looking for performance the “Boss Beaver” is the clear choice! This Amphibious Aircraft will break the water and take off in 965 Ft at 6100 Lbs Gross Weight and on land at 750 Ft. The rate of climb at max Gross is 1110 FPM. If you are searching for the “Ferrari” of float planes, the “Boss Beaver” is the answer! The aircraft underwent importation into Canada from US registration in the Fall of 2012. All Canadian Airworthiness Directives were verified for compliance. In addition to an annual inspection and associated routine maintenance, various additional maintenance items and modifications were accomplished. • Installation of fresh air vent blower system (optional equipment for ‘BOSS’ Beaver STC) • New “birdcage” per DHC S/B 2/49 (Kenmore STC item with thicker-‐wall tubing) • Hydraulic fitting “bash guards” at forward float compartment locations • New elevator and rudder trim cables • Utility grade cabin floor covering • Compressor wash ring installed • Engine borescope inspection accomplished (with digital photo documentation) • New life vests for all seats • Propeller newly overhauled • Aircraft weighed ( xx basic empty weight / yy useful load) • New battery • New ELT • Concurrent with the Canadian import process, all maintenance records were re-‐organized into a separate binder system. Various installed equipment items were certified for conformity for Canadian certification requirements. The maintenance records for this aircraft are exceptionally well organized and comprehensive.
