February is Career & Technical Education Month
LAKE CAREER & TECHNICAL CENTER
As designated by Congress, February is Career and Technical Education Month in Missouri. Career education programs are an important
part of the comprehensive curriculum available to high school students,
as well as provide adults with many options for career and technology
education.
While nearly 20% of the jobs will
require at least a bachelor’s degree,
more than 80% will require some
education or training after high school – an associate
degree, technical school or on-the-job training. Career
education combines academics and occupational skill
training to prepare today’s students to develop the skills
and habits that will get them started on their career paths.
LCTC offers the following courses during the regular
school year: Agricultural Education, Computer Integration, Construction, Culinary, Graphics Technology,
Health Sciences, Metal Fabrication, Pre-Teacher Education and Transportation (including but not limited to
Automotive Technology, Collision Repair, Marine Power
& Extreme Sports Technology).
