September was a great month throughout the Bedouin Shrine. The weather has cooled and allowed us to enjoy some outdoor events with sun shine and blue skies. Congratulations to the Bedouin Clowns. The Clown Car Show at Honor Heights Park was a great success!! They had more cars and motorcycles on display than they have ever had. For the first time ever there was a Potentates Choice Trophy provided and even though there was a wide selection of truly beautiful cars my selection went to a 1955 Red Chevrolet Bell Air from Ft. Smith, Arkansas. I have to admit I was a bit prejudice, my first car was a guess what (55 Bell Air). Go figure ;-) Also in September we had a great week of Circuses. If you were not able to attend one of the circuses you missed a really fantastic show. My Fez is off to our Chief Rabban, Nobel Rory Robertson, his selection of circus acts was spot on from start to finish. The three outdoor shows had clear skies and cool temperatures and the McAlester and Muskogee shows brought in large crowds. Congratulations Rory and Lady Debbie for putting on a wonderful circus this year. Job well done! If you haven’t heard yet, Shrine Imperial voted to increase the per capita for next year dues by $15.00. This will result in an increase in temple dues for 2016 to go from $75 to $90. There was a special business meeting held on Friday 11, September and the nobles present voted to not add an additional increase above the $90 dollars to the temple dues. This month will bring us our Fall Ring Race, check to calendar for dates and places for the Ring Race events. With the ring race going on there will be no Dinner Club at the temple in October. October the 10th will be the drawing for the 75 guns Gun Raffle at the India Temple in Oklahoma City starting at Noon Saturday. We are trying to get hooked up to show the drawing live on the big screen here at the temple. If and I say “If” we can make it happen. Come join us here at the temple and we will at least be posting the winners as they are drawn and watching the OU/Texas foot ball game. We will be serving tail gate food, hot links and hot dogs and red beans and rice. So bring the family and join us at the temple for a fun evening. Pittsburg County Shrine Club will once again be hosting the Pittsburg County Haunted Forrest in McAlester on the 23rd and 24th of October they always put on a spooky show so come join them and bring the whole family. A scary time will be had by all. This is a family event and adult beverages are not allowed. Last but not least, November Dinner Club in Muskogee will be in Honor of our Veterans. If you have a picture of yourself in your military uniform please drop it off at the temple in October or give it to a Divan Member when we come to your dinner club. Please wear your military uniform to Dinner Club in November, if you can still get into it. If you are like me and can’t, please put your ribbons and pins on a dress jacket wear your military head gear instead of a Fez and come to Dinner with us on Wednesday night November the 4th. We are looking forward to seeing you there. Yours in the Faith, Jerry Davidson Potentate Chief Rabban Greetings Nobles and Lady’s. The circus has came and gone, wow! !! What a trip. This years Circus was a huge success, both show wise as well as financially rewarding. Lady Debbi and I can’t express our gratitude enough for a job well done by so many. As this year’s Circus chairman I can only hope that you the Nobility took as much pride in our success as I did working with you. With that being said I can’t hardly wait until the next time we gather as a whole Temple, with the hard working team we have, the sky is the limit. Once again thank you for all the hard work from so many Nobles and Lady’s. God bless each of you. Hello all you Clowns, Bedouin strong and Shriner proud. We proved it once again. September, just when I thought we could not get any busier. Clown Car Show, The Circus, Horse races fills our September Schedule up. The Car show once again with all your help was a great success. We had over a 90 cars and bikes, along with this most beautiful Weather we had all year for an event. Be sure and thank all our sponsors. Without you and them this could not have happen. Well done Bedouin. Two days later we kicked the Circus off. We traveled from Town to Town bringing smiles to kids and adults all. No rest for The funny. Thank you to all the clowns who came out. Now on to new business. The fall ring race kicks off. Let’s help out and find us some new potential clowns. Good food and fellowship is always a plus. Haskell’s 1st annual golf outing October 11 at 8:00AM at Coweta golf club. If your in need of a registration please contact Jim Sand trap, Michael T Harding, Or myself. McAlester will have their haunted forest on the 23rd & 24th. I know they need all the help they can get. So let’s put a scary clown face on And have some fun. Also on the 24 of October between 11:00 and 2:00. The Rib Crib has asked the internationally know Bedouin Shrine Clowns (I really like saying that) to come out and tie up some balloons. This will be a Blood drive for Christian Mocha a five year old boy who has been diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. So come on clowns let’s do what we do best bring smiles and to laughter to all. Till next time: LAUGH HARD, LAUGH LONG, AND LAUGH OFTEN. Keep on Smiling Yours in the Faith, Dennis Rebar Brown McIntosh Co. Shrine Club McIntosh County Shrine Club held our monthly meeting September 12th at Fountainhead State Park along with the 1st meeting of the Rollin’ Bedouin RV Club. It was an appreciation weekend for the Nobles and ladies that helped with onion sales and the golf tournament. The meal was catered by Jay Henry (Hank and Jayme Starkey). We set around the campfire, had great food and fellowship. We talked about next year’s plans. We were honored to have with us Chief Rabban, Rory Robertson and Lady Debbie, OG Rebar, his father, and son. Also, Chief aid and Lady Beverly were there. Next month our meeting meeting will be in Checotah at Sylvia’s Mexican Restaurant on October 14th. Yours in the Faith, Andy Killingsworth President Mounted Patrol Osiyo, To all Mounted Patrol members and Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, the Mounted Patrol will be having it’s annual Trail Ride October 31, 2015. The ride will start at 10:00am at Eugene Nottingham’s ranch. We will ride down mountains, along and across the Illinois River, and through some of the most beautiful country in Cherokee County. The cost of the trail ride is $10.00 for horse and river with a fish fry provided after the ride. Remember, we ride so kids may walk. Yours in the Faith, Teasie “Cowboy” McCrary Bedouin Bandits Pittsburg Co. I want to send out a big thanks to all the Bandits who helped out with the four wheeler races and most recently the Bedouin Circus! We had a great turnout and a lot of fun at the Henryetta Labor day parade as well. Christmas parades will be here before you know it so if you’re planning on building a vehicle, it is the time to start! Ring Race will be this month and we want to make a good showing so put it on your calendar and let me know if you want to bring in your ride for the orientation on Friday night. We will be putting on the murder mystery “Murder at Deadwood Saloon” in November so please try to make the October meeting on Monday night the 26th as we will be making the final adjustments. This year isn’t over yet so there is still plenty of fun to be had and when this year is over, there is still next year to have fun as well!! Pittsburg County Shrine Club Haunted forest will be October 23rd and 24th at Shorty McFarland’s place. Please come out and enjoy a good time and support a good cause. If you are interested in volunteering please contact noble Hank Starkey at 918-424-9902. Yours in the Faith, SafeCracker Prez Iron Horse Patrol From The IHP, Congratulations to Chief Rabban Rory Robertson on a Wonderful Circus. There were a lot of smiling faces across Green Country last month thanks to the Bedouin Shrine Circus. Thank you and your Lady for all you hard work and planning. The Christmas season is just around the corner. Its time to get our skills honed for the tight streets we’ll be parading on. I would like to have a parade skills practice day (say that 3 times fast) in late October and in November. This will be on a Sunday afternoon, over at the Civic Center. We will have a mock street and some safety cones set up to practice with. I would like to open this up to anybody in the Temple that would like to hone their skills on a safe, secure area. Any of our unit would be more than happy to share any of the skills we have to help make you a more safe and confident rider. I will do my best to get the times out, but feel free to contact me or one of the officers of the IHP. I borrowed this quote from my cousin. Race the rain, ride the wind & chase the sunset. Only a biker understands. Till next time… Camel Herders 1st thing I want to do is think everyone who helped with the great succesful circus. The meeting we had before the ring race was well attended. We didn’t burn to many hamburgers, hahah. We discused on having a great fun time during the race. There will be a imtiaron meeting after the ring race on Oct. 22 at 6:30 with pizza and beer for everyone. Come and have some great fun. Moore Welcome Our New Member James Mark Boling Tommy Jay Grider Charles Wesley Manning We last updated on the hospital system in June and here it is October, how time passes. Here are some quick points and comments on Shreveport hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children in general. • Shreveport continues to lead the system (#2) in referral of children into the system month over month. We have an over 210% increase from last year. This is a huge accomplishment. • Outpatient clinic visits up over 17% • Radiology procedures up over 23% • Surgical operations and procedures remain steady with a slight increase of approx. 2% YTD. • Bedouin remains in 7th out of 17+ plus Temples on the number of children applications. We are down about 12 from last year’s YTD totals. So if you know of a child we can help let’s get them into the system. Look for a EOY update in Jan or Feb. • Donor Relations giving continues to improve and Shreveport is ahead of last year’s dollars. We can always use more donations. The Shreveport Hospital relies heavily on donations each year to meet our capital needs of over $1M. • Your Board is working hard at this time to establish total 2016 budget needs in excess of $20M. • September 16th was the 93rd Anniversary of the 1st Shriners Hospital for Children – Shreveport. We celebrated with local dignitaries and representatives from Shriners International. • September Shreveport Shriners Hospital also unveiled the Tim Tebow Foundation playroom. Our hospital is the 2nd in the hospital system to get one. • Early October we had a special dedication program in memory of a Wahabi Shriner and van driver who lost his life while transporting a Shreveport Hospital patient family home to Mississippi last winter. • Shriners Hospital for Children as a system completed the world’s first double hand transplant on a child this summer. Something to be very proud of and groundbreaking. St. Louis also opened a new hospital this summer. • Congratulations to our Noble Jim Kinser for being named Shriner of the Month! Thanks for all you do for the children. • As you can see your Shreveport Shriners Hospital for Children continues to stay busy. As the year 2015 comes to an end, we are working to make sure the hospital continues to improve and remains in the top % of all of the Shriners Hospital for Children. We say a huge heartfelt THANK YOU for your continued support. Your Board of Governors continues to work for you and our kids. If you have any questions or comments don’t hesitate to contact me.
