COAL CHAMBER broke out of the Los Angeles alterna[ve metal scene in 1997 with a sound o`en compared to that of KORN. Both bands formed around the same and are known for their heavy de-‐tuned guitars reminiscent of WHITE ZOMBIE and TOOL, with roots from BLACK SABBATH. COAL CHAMBER was formed in 1994 by vocalist B. Dez Farara and guitarist Migel Rascon, who met by way of a classified ad. They added drummer Mike Cox and bassist Rayna Foss. Rayna heard about band audi[ons from her roomate who later became Farara’s wife. A huge local buzz following performances at the Roxy and Whiskey-‐a-‐Go-‐Go, along with a demo tape, got the band a record deal with roadrunner Records in late 1994, but Farara suddendly quit due to disbutes with his wife over the band. By the spring of 1995 Farara returned to the band without his wife! They regained their record deal and released the first CD in 1997. PRKNBNZ =8-‐) Reference material from en.wikipedia.org BASS

It was a minor success but their mixture of goth rock imagery and nu metal made for an uneven album. COAL CHAMBER toured heavily to promote the album but by the [me came for a new one Rayna le` the band to raise her new born daughter. Nadja took Foss’ place during her pregnancy and accepted the call to become full[me bassist. Nadja never recorded an album with COAL CHAMBER, only performing with them on tour. The band lajer dissolved but Nadja and Mike Cox have gojen back together to do some fes[val performances but have said that a COAL CHAMBER reunion would not happen. BUT IT DID!! Coal Chamber reformed in 2011 with Chela Harper on bass. You can find Nadja on facebook at h"ps://www.facebook.com/

Maybe now she will get the chance to record with the band! COAL CHAMBER, which reunited in 2011, made the announcement on their website………… “SomeAmes change is good. Especially when that change reunites a person with someone from the past who they love and had missed. We are thrilled to let you all know that Nadja has officially returned to the Coal Chamber family on bass.” PRKNBNZ Reference material from notreble.com, en.wikipedia.org, officialcoalchamber.com BASS
COME AND FEEL MY BOTTOM PAGE FIVE THE BOTTOM LINE JANUARY 2014 SO YOUR BAND MEMBER HAS LEFT, WHAT DO YOU DO NOW? So you’ve just completed produc[on of your debut album and your founding rhythm guitarist, who laid the groundwork for most of your original songs, has just le` the band. Where do you go from here? Replace the guitarist, or try it as a power trio? (This scenario can work for any “founding bassist, vocalist, guitarist or drummer who contributed to wriAng original material.) The first thing to worry about is legal ownership of your original material. If the now former member came up with the majority of the musical material for the band, or even parts of various songs, you will want to get their permission to con[nue playing those songs. This is especially true if you are recording them. You’ll need to decide what to do un[l you have enough newer material to phase those songs out, or you may want to simply start working hard on brand new material. The ques[on of whether to find another guitarist or do a power trio is one you will have to answer for yourself. Personally, I love the power trio format. It allows for more interac[on on stage and o`en also allows for a wider dynamic range. Reference material from notreble.com, bassplayer.com and bassmagazine.com =8-‐) PRKNBNZ BASS
COME AND FEEL MY BOTTOM PAGE SIX THE BOTTOM LINE JANUARY 2014 SO YOUR BAND MEMBER HAS LEFT, WHAT DO YOU DO NOW? Cont’d Addi[onally, it is certainly cheaper to work as a trio. More money per musician, less gear to haul, fewer hotel rooms, and you can likely tour in a minivan instead of pulling a huge trailer, which saves on gas and ease of travel. But you will have to determine for yourself whether or not the trio is strong enough to pull it off. The biggest ques[on is that of legal song ownership. If they formed the band, they very well may not like you con[nuing under the same band name, or to play and record their tunes. If they are a member of ASCAP or BMI, they may be willing to con[nue owning a percentage of the songs, and be given credit on the album, but you’ll need to work that out with them. If there is a hint of success for your band, plan on legal fees, unfortunately. It’s all really a majer of scale and size of egos. If this is more fun than a career, it likely won’t be much of an issue. But if you are going to start touring, and then do even a lijle well, they very well may decide that they deserves a slice of your pie. Cont’d If you are all serious about the project, I would suggest choosing a lineup which best supports the band and then begin on determining who owns what musically. You’ll likely want to develop more tunes and phase out the old stuff as soon as possible. If there is success or money involved, you would probably best be served by paying a lawyer to answer some of those ques[ons, and draw up a contract soon! female tribute band The Iron Maidens (billed as the "World's Only Female Tribute to Iron Maiden"). Reference material from en.wikipedia.org, facebook.com/pages/Wanda-‐Or[z/ =8-‐) Wanda first learned to play the bass at the age of nine, when the elementary school she ajended had a music program that enabled students to sign up and choose an instrument. When she arrived late on "instrument day" of that class, she wound up with a junior-‐sized double bass. While she took lessons on playing her first musical instrument, she taught herself to play electric bass at the age of 11 when her school had a jazz band. She con[nued playing bass throughout her school years, eventually earning a B.Mus degree from the University of California, Irvine. Before joining The Iron Maidens, Or[z was the bassist of the band Rojen Rod & The Warheads from 1997 to 2002 and Heartache City from 1999 to 2001. In 1998 and 2004, Or[z won the Best Female Bassist award at the Rock City News Awards. In 2003, she won the best bassist award at The All Access Music Magazine Awards. PRKNBNZ BASS

As a member of The Iron Maidens, Or[z's stage name is "Steph Harris," a “SMOKIN’ HOT!” female version of Iron Maiden bassist/
founder Steve Harris. In addi[on to The Iron Maidens, Or[z works as a freelance musician in various groups and orchestras in the Southern California area, including The South Coast Symphony Orchestra as principal bassist since 1996. She was also the bassist of an original rock/blues band called Field of Vision in 2004. Aside from Steve Harris, Or[z cites Geddy Lee, Chris Squire (and PRKNBNZ) among her influences.
