DEAR READER
WELCOME TO
CUE BITS AUTUMN EDITION
The world is changing rapidly, war in Ukraine,
means war in Europe, sanctions imposed on
Russia. In West Africa the Ebola decease is
spreading very fast and thousands of people
are infected. In Syria and Iraq we see civil
war and increased number of refugees. Libya
same thing, civil war, the airport closed and
increased difficulties to do business.

CUE DEE CUSTOMER MAGAZINE
MONSTER MAST
CUE DEE has delivered what will be the highest wind measurement mast ever in Sweden. Initially the new mast at Markbygden
wind energy park in northern Sweden is
“only” 136 m high.
NEW US DISTRIBUTOR
Hagemeyer North America, a member of the
Sonepar Group, is the new CUE DEE distributor in the USA.
In the Wind area it seems that the need for
masts up to 200 meter has come to stay, we
did one mast in Germany some years ago but
now we have interest from several customers
that want to acquire masts for this height.
This is of course exciting for us as it is a challenge to work with masts so high and offer our
technicians the possibility to test their ability.
NEW EMPLOYE
Martin Lycksell, 38 years, is a new Senior Designer at CUE DEE. He will be responsible for
the technical development and customization
of monopoles, RDU sites and Swesites.
As for brackets we now see Micro sites coming strong with smaller and lighter equipment which means smaller brackets, and also
increasing demand for “nice looking brackets”
that can melt in with the surroundings.
CUE DEE GOLF CHALLENGE
Team Elektroskandia was the winner of
the CUE DEE Golf Challenge, an event
including a golf competition and a future oriented workshop.
As we can all see there are new challenges in
a fast changing world, at Cue Dee we like this
and as you can see if you read this edition we
have strengthened our organization and added more distributors to our network in order
to meet these challenges.

IS AN ICONIC CUE DEE PRODUCT THAT HAS PAVED THE WAY FOR CUE DEE'S OVERALL SUCCESS
OCTOBER 2014
When reading this autumn edition of Cue Bits
I realized two trends in our product portfolio.
Wind Masts are getting higher and higher and
for Telecom brackets we see the demand for
smaller and smaller applications.
Lars Olofsson, President
THE ANTENNA SUPPORT
THE ANTENNA SUPPORT is an iconic product
that has paved the way for CUE DEE’s overall
success. Since its introduction it has remained a
true best-seller all over the world, being probably
the most effective and practical antenna support
available on the market.
Even if these horrors might seem far away
they are affecting us all and even more directly an international company like Cue Dee
of course. The only thing we can do is to adapt
to the reality and do our best in adjusting our
business to the new circumstances.

NEW DELIVERY OF
MONSTER MAST
IN 2015 IT WILL BE SWEDEN’S HIGHEST WIND MEASUREMENT MAST
CUE DEE HAS DELIVERED WHAT WILL BE THE HIGHEST wind measurement mast ever in Sweden. Initially the new mast at Markbygden wind
energy park in northern Sweden is “only” 136 m high. Next year it will
be extended to an impressive 200 m.
This is the second wind measurement mast of this height delivered by
CUE DEE. The first one was delivered to Fraunhofer IWF, in the Kassel
region in Germany, in 2011-12 and is so far the highest wind measurement mast in Europe.
JUST LIKE THE MAST DELIVERED to Germany this new mast is built by
K-1050 mast sections, which is the widest and most durable in the CUE
DEE range. Currently the top of the mast is built by K-600 sections, but
these will be demounted next year when the mast is extended to its final
height of 200 m. CUE DEE’s new Key Account Manager Wind Urban Wikman, followed the installation of the new mast on site made by Telecon
in early September.
TEAM-WORK ON SITE
“It was very useful for me to see how the installation of the mast was
done and to realize that true team-work was needed to effectively install
such a high mast. Everyone had to rely on one another to get the job
done safely, especially when the helicopter pilot flew in new sections.
IN ONLY THREE DAYS the work was done and the instruments where
mounted the following week.
For some months they will collect wind data at the hub height of around
136 meters and next year the data will be collected at 200 meters, at the
upper tip of the wind mill wing.
HIGHER AND HIGHER…
But will the 200 m wind measurement mast really cope with the sometimes very difficult weather conditions at Markbygden?
“Having previous experience from the site in Germany that also is in a location with hard weather makes us quite confident,” says Mats Lindberg,
Senior Designer Wind at CUE DEE.
“The trend is that the masts are getting higher and higher and we have
to adapt our product to that”, Mats continues.
THE WIND MEASUREMENT MARKET has been a bit slow in recent years
but now it seems to be picking up.
“We are working on several new quotations from customers in Sweden
and Norway, as well as central Europe”, says Urban Wikman.
FACTS MARKBYGDEN
PROJECT:
Markbygden Phase 2 (approved in May 2014)
MAXIMUM WIND MILL HEIGHT:
Max 200 m
LOCATION:
Skogsberget, Piteå municipality, North of Sweden
ENERGY PRODUCTION:
2.3-7.5 MW per wind mill, total installed around 1300 MW, total est. production
around 3.5-4 TWh annually – to be compared to the total hydro power production
in the region that amounts to 14 TWh annually.
AREA:
160 km2
NO. OF WIND MILLS:
Up to 440, the largest wind mill farm in Sweden
OTHER:
Special consideration will be taken to protected animal species, outdoor recreation purposes and the reindeer herding in the area.
SODA – IN THIS CASE NOT A beverage but an abbreviation for South
of Dalälven (southern half of Sweden) is a project in its final phase. This
Telia project consists of a two year capacity enhancement of the 3G/4G
rollout.
“We have supplied hardware, mainly antenna supports, to around 15002000 sites with a total value of around 6 million SEK”, says Bahram
Larsson, Sales Manager Telecom at CUE DEE.
THE COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN delivered to the different local installers by CUE DEE’s partner Elektroskandia via their central warehouse in
Örebro.
“This is a project that has gone very smoothly and my impression is that
it has also been very well planned by Telia”, says Bahram.
“We hope to be a leading supplier in the
projects that are about to start”
DEMAND FOR CAPACITY
The overall objective has been to improve the mobile net coverage and
capacity in major cities (SODA City) and in more rural locations. There is
big demand for increased capacity since much of the wireless traffic is
rapidly increasing in Sweden – as well as in many other countries with a
long “telecom history”. The end of the SODA project is certainly not the
end of the telecom expansion in Sweden.
“Right now we anticipate the start of new telecom expansion projects
that mostly mean that existing telecom sites will be densified with new
equipment. In these cases the CUE DEE compact solutions are of course
very suitable”, says Bahram Larsson.
TELECOM OUTLOOK IN OTHER SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRIES:
NORWAY
Two big projects is about to start: one by Telia (that has acquired Tele2 in
Norway) and one by Icenet.
FINLAND
A lot going on, including plans for 20 000 new 4G sites within the next
three years by the three actors DNA, Sonera and Elisa.
“We hope to be a leading supplier in the projects that are about to start,
apart from this we are also looking into the market in the Baltic countries”, says Bahram Larsson.
MARKET DEPARTMENT TO NEW OFFICES
THE PREVIOUS YEARS HAVE BEEN very successful for CUE DEE with turnovers all-timehigh and introductions of both new products
and new markets. “We have now outgrown our
office space and a new office is being built in
a newly rented part of the same building”, says
Sales & Marketing Manager Melker Persson.
THE NEW OFFICE WILL BE OCCUPIED by the
market department. In this way we will be able
to work more closely together and hopefully be
even more effective. The contact with the rest
of the CUE DEE team will still be close, since
they are only a few steps away, Melker continues.

CUE DEE CUSTOMER MAGAZINE - OCT.2014
What kind of CUE DEE products will be
the most interesting/fastest to the market
initially?
Our customers today have a strong demand
for CUE DEE brackets. Initially these are the
type of products HNA will bring to the market.
How will the sales activities be organized?
Today the sales activities will start with our
key accounts visions to grow beyond just
key accounts to support multiple customers.
We see this happening as word grows in the
telecom industry that HNA has a partnership
with CUE DEE and is capable of meeting their
demands with CUE DEE products.
What is your impression of the CUE DEE
products?
CUE DEE has a wonderful product portfolio and
brings quality tested materials to the market
that the customer can count on. It does what it
says it will do. HNA is very happy to sell their
material and have received no complaints
from any of our key customers.
What is your experience within the telecom
industry?
HNA is able to supply products across all
industries. Our leading edge for telecom is reduced lead-times, local warehousing, kitting,
and VMI capabilities.
Will you set up a stock of CUE DEE products?
HNA will keep key products in stock to support
our initial customer base. As this grows so will
the number of products HNA keep in central
storage.
And the company overall?
The experience HNA has had with the owner,
sales, inside support, etc at CUE DEE has been
nothing but outstanding. They have a great
team and culture very similar to HNA which
makes our partnership exceptional. We really
enjoy working with these guys.
Is the CUE DEE-Hagemeyer cooperation
communicated with any of your telecom
customers?
Currently we are in the process of communicating the relationship/partnership with CUE
DEE to our customers. The reaction has been
positive and our customers are excited about
being able to purchase CUE DEE products
from us.
There are several ongoing projects with our
key accounts where CUE DEE products will
be supported by HNA. A key customer that
is taking advantage of our solutions today is
Ericsson.
What does your logistic chain look like?
Through the partnerships with our forwarders
HNA has an established global supply chain
channel through which we are able to move
product fast and reliable to meet the demanding deadlines of our customers.
HERE ARE THE VIEWS OF RICHIE SOUTHER:
“WE HAVE AN EXCEPTIONAL PARTNERSHIP”
How did you get in touch with CUE DEE?
HNA was introduced to CUE DEE through our
parent company Sonepar as an organization
doing great things within the telecom industry.
We were encouraged to start a relationship as
the belief was CUE DEE would be an asset to
work with in the North American market.
In what way can the new cooperation boost
Hagemeyer-CUE DEE businesses?
The partnership can boost HNA-CUE DEE
business through opportunities uncovered
by both companies in the North American
market. As word spreads through the Telecom
industry we should be able to capitalize on the
need and demand of CUE DEE products. With
our partnership we are supplying CUE DEE
products into the customers’ portfolio cutting
down on lead-times and providing localized
warehousing.
FACTS OF HNA
Hagemeyer North America has a strategically located logistic hub and offices in Lewisville, Texas.
HNA, a member of the Sonepar Group, is the new CUE DEE distributor in the USA.
“This is a natural step for us since we work closely together with Sonepar companies
in other parts of the world and we are really looking forward to a prosperous cooperation with HNA”, says Melker Persson, Sales & Marketing Manager at CUE DEE.
RICHIE SOUTHER, Q.S.S.P.
“CUE DEE has wonderful products and we really enjoy working with the guys”, says
Richie Souther, account representative at Hagemeyer North America (HNA) who is
enthusiastic about the new cooperation with CUE DEE.

TEAM ELEKTROSKANDIA was the winner
of the CUE DEE Golf Challenge, an event
including a golf competition and a future

BAHRAM LARSSON WAS representing
CUE DEE AB at Elektroskandia’s yearly
Telecom Golf event at Bålsta GK golf
club. Around 30 golfers, clients in the
telecom business, had at the 3rd of
September gathered for the telecom
golf competition.
AT EACH HOLE, different telecom suppliers had the opportunity to inform and
present their products. Bahram Larsson
represented CUE DEE at hole seven.
One of the participants ready for tee shot.
IT WAS A SUCCESSFUL DAY with fantastic late-summer weather and the
event was very appreciated, both from
the clients as well as the suppliers.
The golf competition was held at Robertsfors Golf Course, close to the CUE DEE
head office in Sikeå. The day was rounded
off with some R&R, dinner and price ceremony at a nearby hotel.
One of the installed sites in Spain.
THE SPANISH INTERNET PROVIDER Altanetica has started a cooperation with CUE DEE.
The first ballast box rooftop system has been
installed.
“Hopefully this is the start of something bigger
in Spain – a market where we haven’t been so
active so far”, says Attila Fabian, Business Development & Key Account Manager at CUE DEE.
A GOOD START
“This is a good start and we were able to suggest a standardized product with some minor
customizing alterations. The customer seems
very satisfied with the products so I hope we
will get new enquiries for similar equipment
and also for other products, e.g. antenna
mounting solutions”, says Attila.
THE COMPETITION FROM LOCAL telecom
hardware companies is fierce in both Spain
and Portugal, making it very difficult to compete. However in this case Altanetica appreciated both the flexibility and the product quality
offered by CUE DEE.
“AS SPAIN IS A VERY LARGE COUNTRY geographically and the number of inhabitants that
need good internet solutions are around 47
million, this is the first important step into a
huge potential market”, Attila continues.
ABOUT ALTANETICA
• An Internet operator providing constant and dynamic development.
• Active in Spain and Belarus.
• Currently the only internet operator in the
Costa Brava region offering fiber optics connection.
In February 2012 Altanetica won the contest
of the Municipal Administration Sant Antoni
